"Kickin' A** and Takin' Names"
>> A Sheik Reference Thread <<

Hey everyone. I thought I'd contribute a little to the Sheik forum by concentrating all the useful (but unfortunately scarce) Sheik informational threads into this one post. Hopefully this will breathe some life into this dying forum :) The name of the thread pretty much summarizes what Sheik does best:

Kick A$$ and Take Names

And nothing helps Sheik players more than knowing the sexiest ninja around like the back of your hand. This thread provides links to the treasure trove (or ninja stash) of Sheik information that'll add an extra f-tilt (or kick if you didn't get the Sheik humor) to your game. If its really useful, maybe it'll even get Stickied :D (hint hint)

This will be a continuous work in progress that I hope will have many future additions to it :)

This is still a work in progress and I'm still skimming through the Sheik boards to find more threads. I haven't even included a link to the Ninja's of the Shadow Sheik Clan thread, Choknater's videos, and your F-Tilt Set-up thread. Those'll be added soon :)

"^B Information" is the only one I see not making the cut but since that piece of information isn't listed anywhere else on this boards I wouldn't be too surprise if you added it as well.

Thanks for the links, I do remember reading these but I couldn't find them in the forum. I thought they dissapeared :O I wonder why there's a 3 page limit here, its not like the Sheik forums is cranking out new topics and threads every minute. lol.

I'll add these ASAP :) Lag-less vanish = sex.

It looks like the Reference Thread is making good strides :) Keep the guides and discussion rolling along. If there are any really useful threads that I've missed, let me know; sometimes its hard to dig through the forums.

Hopefully this'll get stickied :)

It should get sticky

My only regret is that I didn't mention the ^B returning animation can stop people momentum. The only reason I didn't even bring it up was because at the time when I did those studies a thread was already made recently asking about that so I thought it was common knowledge.

Now like three separate people have asked or pointed out the same thing and there's no research thread to point it out to them...

~Shrugs~

Maybe I should update one of them or something....Thinking of which I should get my lazy *** up and start doing some tilt set up percentages.

Added some more to the reference thread. I hope some of the older threads linked on this page will get updated/cleaned up in the future :D The one's I'd love to see in particular are the "Frame Data" and "F-Tilt Lock Follow Ups." Knowledge is power (and power = Sheik), 'nuff said :D

What was this doing on the 2nd page! and better yet how come this hasn't been stickyed?

Anyways I finish the Nair section of my "F-Tilt Set Ups" thread.

I'm think about making a new section within the thread detailing about the down smash percentages so stay tune

Nice work Tristan_Win :D

I hope this gets stickied soon too. Whose the mod for the Sheik Board btw? Is it Gimpy?
I'm hoping to do a little clean-up on these sections later. If I got time, I'm thinking about compiling all the talk about Vanish into a guide. Gotta study for a midterm tho :( Heh.

I'll be looking forward to the D-Smash guide. No one seems to talk about it too much considering its one of Sheik's best defensive moves, hits multiple times, and comes out in 4 frames.

The 4 frame part is what making this testing really easy.

No longer do I have to either buff the jump before the nair or hitting the buttons at the same time. It's just a simple flick of the C stick now.

Although...Back in the day I learned that you can change directions doing the downsmash and I've seen the back part of Sheik down smash hit muti times before...I wonder if it was just poor DI on their part . ~runs back to testing~

Meh, the two hitter look to only work in the super low percents like below 20%

Edit2: More like 10% T_T It's pretty useless and hard to space since you have to hit them what looks to me around the knee area of the first kick.

How much slower is the D-Smash when you are facing away from the enemy? Also, you can change your direction DURING the D-Smash?? Can't wait to see how this guide's gonna come out :)

If everyone reads all the threads and isn't convinced, I'd be surprised XD Haha. As for the D-Smash testing, looks like the two hitter won't be too useful then; but thats fine-- 4 frame smash = win :D

Random thought:
Ledgedrop needle cancel allows you to edgeguard with a fair straight from the ledge, which may help with certain heights that you can't accomplish easily from on-stage.

Also, bumping this thread because it has a lot of useful links.

Thanks for the bump, I'm hoping this will get stickied so it won't get lost in the Sheik boards :D

For the ledgedrop needle cancel, do you just let go and toss reverse-needles for it to cancel? I don't remember reading about this technique and imagining how it'd look boggles my mind. It'd be awesome if you could elaborate on it a little bit or refer me to a thread!

Perhaps I will record a video of it sometime tomorrow night, but I thought what I said was rather straightforward, ze..

Well, I suppose there are a bunch of things getting gathered that I need to actually make good on a Vol. 2....

saaaaa, so troublesome.

After reading it again for a few times, I think I understand what the ledgedropped needle cancel is (I hope). Haha. For Sheik Tricks Vol.2, I'd suggest you add:

-Variations of the Vanish Glide
-DACUS
-Chain Jacket
-Wall Stalls on FD and Pokemon Stadium 1
-Aerial Needle Cancel
-Needle Dashing (where you cancel you're dash with needles, cancel the needles, then perform your attack)
-That transformation trick mentioned in the tricks thread.
-Lag-less Vanish

Everyone simply LOVED Sheik Tricks, Vol.1 (even me, and I had seen them all before!). Can't wait for #2.

Also, out of curiosity, is it possible for Sheik to do that D-Air recovery that Toon Link can perform? Where you jump and D-Air at the same time to gain horizontal distance? Never could seem to get it to work, but the general consensus was that it worked with all characters with a Stall-then-Fall aerial.

*Edit* I also forgot to add that sick Sheik Footstool-to-Needle-Reset combo to the list. People go giddy for such an awesome combo :D

How is it that I never heard or thought about needle dashing before this moment? Brilliant!

I tried that ledge drop reverse needle charge cancel to fair at the edge thing a bunch of times against my friend's Sonic, Ankoku. It's difficult to time and it leaves you without a double jump if something goes wrong. I would just wait on the tip of the stage, dash and fast fall a fair off the edge at the right moment. It's roughly the same thing.

Needle dashing is useless. I proved a long time ago that it's about 10 frames slower than just flickering your shield to stop your dash, because it has a stupidly long "start charging" and "stop charging" animation.

I demand we get this stickied!

A thread this useful should not be all the way back on the third fricken page!

I haven't mention this to anyone but a few weeks ago I sent a message to a mod asking for this thread to be stickied and I've have yet to received a responds, perhaps if we send messages to the moderates as a group asking for a sticky some action will be taken.

Does anyone agree?
