Fighting the same group of enemies as well as the same final boss gets boring. The Snowmads were handled fantastically in Tropical Freeze and as long as Retro keeps doing new groups of enemies in future DK games I don't think we need Kremlings.
First off coming into a K. Rool support thread and saying that Retro dosnt need to bring back the Kremlings so long as * insert whatever reason* just seems like a bad idea to me......
DKCR and DKCTF were great games and certainly stand well in the DK series. The Snowmads were great enemies especially because they were Vikings and who dosnt like Vikings. However were they as good as the Kremlings? No, not in my opinion.
Reasons for this.
A. Nostalgia, the Kremlings are the classic enemies of the Kongs and thus bring a feeling of nostalgia with them into the game.
B. Looks, while all the Snowmads were well done and once again looked like Vikings. The Kremlings are just more visually impressive and interesting as despite being "pirates" to a degree they often appear in a variety of outfits everything from combat fatigues to trench coats, flying jackets, ghosts, heck there was even a Viking Kremling in DK64 in Gloomy Galleon. It gives them more personality.
C. They're more imposing as enemies, while the Snowmads had some cool imposing animals like polar bears and walrus overall many of them were very "cutsie" penguins, rabbits, and owls aren't very imposing when in comparison to crocodiles. This makes the Kremlings just seem more threatening.
Lord Fredrik was cool no doubt but he just wasn't King K. Rool. K. Rool has WAY more personality and is just more imposing as a main antagonist than a big walrus.
Also when playing the DK games you don't feel like your playing the same boss since K. Rool always has a different alter ego.
At the end of the day the Snowmads were a great group of bad guys but they just can't beat the Kremlings. Of course everyone is entitled to their opinion.
