K. Rool's Kremling Kutthroats: PM BKupa666 for an Invite to the New K. Rool Thread

Does anyone else see the glorious FUNKY KONG being playabe?

No. There's two perfectly valid, far more important characters to the franchise. King K. Rool (obviously) and Dixie Kong. Those two are the only valid contenders. K. Rool is the main antagonist, and Dixie Kong is the third-most recurring protagonist in the series. I don't see why some people keep bringing up anyone else. I mean, I like Funky Kong, but he's not important enough. He's never even been playable in any of the main DKC games, at least Cranky has that going for him (and that hardly amounts to anything either).

The Kremlings are NOT owned by Rare....are they? I am pretty sure Rare owns NOTHING in Smash Bros.

Sorry if I did not make it overt; I was referencing a common, fallacious argument against K. Rool on how he couldn't enter Smash Bros because he was owned by Rare (which is absolutely false, K. Rool was never owned by rare. Also note the quotation marks), and that if the Kremlings, who faced these similar fallacious, false arguments were able to make it into Smash Bros, then K. Rool can make it in as well.

So, of course K. Rool isn't owned by Rare

So, can someone update me on how K. Rool's chances are affected by this great reveal? I would think they've improved.

Objectively, I don't believe anything has changed for K. Rool. Even during the Gematsu Reign, most reasoned that the Gematsu Leak wasn't confirmed to be the entire roster, so it never effected K. Rool's chances.

Also, we still have no new DK stage which could possibly hint towards to K. Rool. We have no developer comments (that I am aware of) that also pertains either positively or negatively to K. Rool.

What we have now (which we had even before the Robin/Lucina reveal) is: the Kremlings in Smash Run, and the spottings of Chunky Kong (which have yet to be official confirmed).

Chunky Kong (assuming he was spotted), I believe, helps K. Rool but only slightly. It provides evidence, at the very least, that Sakurai and his team have no problem bringing back characters that many speculators deemed "irrelevant", especially since Chunky Kong is associated with the "Rare Saga". If K. Rool is "irrelevant" and "not recent enough", then Chunky Kong is even moreso, yet Sakurai still wanted him as an assist trophy.

Then there's the Kremlings in the Smash Run, which to me I think reflects positively on K. Rool slightly. For one thing, it's similar to Chunky Kong: the kremlings tear down many arguments that were used against K. Rool. there's nothign stopping K. Rool from appearing on the roster now besides Sakurai himself.

Some people do note that the Robin/Lucina/Falcon trailer opens the door to the possibility of multiple reveals (Like a Dixie/K. Rool reveal or a Ridley/k. Rool/Mewtwo reveal) but I don't honestly pertain to this logic since it can be applied for literally any possible newcomer and veteran, not necessarly just K. Rool or villains.

So overall, I think K. Rool is still up in the air, but at the same time I believe he has a little more going for him then against him. Also, I don't believe the recent trailer affected him at all.

Being the Donkey Kong zealots that we are, we really do believe that DK deserves at least three newcomers in this game (but we're willing to settle for two in order to save something for next time), and nobody deserves it more than K. Rool. It's gotten to the point where I believe that if the good Kaptain doesn't make it in, it's going to significantly damper my goodwill towards the game(s). It's a mantra we repeat often on DK Vine: We're the fourth bestselling Nintendo franchise and we outsold Zelda on the Wii. It's absolutely absurd that Fire Emblem (and Kirby in Brawl and most likely this game) has more characters than Donkey Kong . Having our series big bad standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the likes of Bowser and Ganondorf will go a long way towards soothing these wounds.

Incidentally, K. Rool was inducted this year in our Character Hall of Fame.

The view zooms ahead to show DK winding up a punch on a ship deck, before he unleashes it at a large silhouette only to miss and crack the boards. A booming laugh echoes out as the silhouette is finally revealed as -KING K. ROOL Blasts into battle!- he swings down his blunderbuss to fire at DK, only to be stopped by a charged blast. Out comes Samus to assist DK, the two fight off K. Rool as the camera changes back to show Link running, but he's again mostly off-screen. As Samus prepares another shot to fire at the King, a large shadow swoops down, grabs her and flies up, he brings her to his face and roars -RIDLEY Wasn't too big Crashes the fight!- before flying down and slamming Samus down and through the ship deck. The camera returns as K. Rool prepares to fire at DK again, only for Link to come down with a yell and knock the blunderbuss away with his sword. K. Rool jumps away as a dark chuckle is heard, Ganondorf steps out from the shadows and readies his blade as he charges down Link and the two become locked in a sword fight. -Gameplay footage of K. Rool fighting DK on a Gangplank Galleon stage; then switches to show Samus and Ridley fighting on Pyrosphere; and again switching to Link and a newly revamped Ganondorf fighting on returning Bridge of Eldin stage.


All I've got so far for a possible villain reveal, now if only this actually happens next month...

Oh, Cranky. Definitely Cranky. In fact, I think it's baffling he doesn't have more support. He's the original Donkey Kong and the amount of dream matches you could get with Cranky would be delightful: Mario, obviously, but also being able to face off against Pac-Man in the battle of '80s arcade supremacy?

That said, K. Rool is the ultimate priority for a Donkey Kong fan, as not only are there more dream matches to be had with him (and the most varied moveset), but it'd the key to reviving him and for him to finally get respect from Nintendo and every future development team who thinks they can get away with reinventing Donkey Kong's cast. Dixie and Cranky are here to stay, but K. Rool needs this boost.

I really want him in the game, the only thing better would be Banjo-Kazooie and that will probably never happen. I was very doubtful because he didn't make it in the new DK game. But those Kritter's in smash run give me hope and Fire Emblem getting 2 new characters increased that hope. But part of me still believes that if DK gets 2 more representatives it will be Dixie and Cranky, which I would be ok with but it wont be nearly as awesome without him.

People claim to have spotted Cranky's trophy during Smash Runs. Thus, he is most likely not going to be a playable character.

Today I got another (in my opinion) great idea for a reveal trailer. What if K.Rool were to fight Wario on his DK64 ship and sayin' somethin' like "There's always someone bigger than you!" and next Ridley joins the fight xD Would be epic to get the two most wanted newcomers and also get them in the same reveal trailer. Can't think of any bigger surprise ^^

This is my idea for a villains trailer:

Mario, Link, Kirby, Fox, Donkey Kong, and Samus are all standing outside Peach's castle. There they see Bowser approaching with an army of battleships cackling, before snapping his fingers. Out spring Wario and Wolf, who tackle Mario and Fox and they begin fighting. Link and Kirby are about to fight Bowser when they are suddenly attacked by Ganondorf, wielding a sword, who engages them. Despite their efforts, Ganondorf is about to overpower them before Meta Knight swoops in to assist the two. As they try to take on Ganondorf, gameplay of the revamped Ganondorf is shown. Amongst the commotion, no one notices a trio watching for the cliffs. Suddenly, Donkey Kong is smacked by a cannonball and flies into a castle wall, while a smoking blunderbuss is placed on the floor. The camera pans up to our king, who grins and begins charging up another shot "KING K. ROOL KRUSHES THE KOMPETITION". Some gameplay footage of our king is shown. Samus tries charging up a shot to assist DK, but she is suddenly tackled by Ridley, who roars in her face. "RIDLEY MAKES HIS BIG DEBUT". Ridley footage shown. Suddenly, a purple energy surrounds everyone and they are kept still. A low cackling is heard and the camera pans over to Mewtwo, who throws everyone into the distance. "MEWTWO STRIKES BACK". The trailer then ends with all the villains laughing as the heroes prepare to take them on once more.

Rool on the Town and City stage, and one of his moves was Krusha running towards the opponent and falling down on top of them, he was also about to use his blunderbuss, but the dream ended right when he took it out. There is a Black Shadow support thread. I'm REALLY thinking Black Shadow will get Ganondorf's old moveset now. I'm even thinking again that Sami might get in as a clone... but she'll be a clone of a cut character, so technically she won't be a clone at all. :D
