Yeah, Rool is even more neglected than ridley these days. We've gotten Ridley's shadow, we've gotten bubkis from K rool.

His minions came back in Smash Run after a very long absence. Also, K.Rool's shadow wasn't shown with the text 'Other bosses may appear on other stages to' after seeing what exactly the role of the Yellow Devil was.

I still say we are at a big advantage.

Unless he ends up barely a trophy again. Ridley is either playable or a boss. K. Rool is either playable or a trophy. Sakurai has given his fanbase this hints (kremlings maaaaybe), not even a DK stage :/

I'm actually very sure that we'd be getting Gangplank Galleon as a stage if K. Rool is in the game.

Some people would like to all get around the camp fire and sing Kumbaya about DK having 4 reps. Hell yes DK deserves 4 reps, but it won't get them, especially in the apocalyptic times we now live in known as the Sal Romano era. I'm not going to be politically correct about it to appease the lot of closet Dixie fans in the thread, she's a threat. Yes, I will be disappointed if she gets in over him, as yes, he does deserve it far more than her. Apparently, I have anti Dixie "bias", when all of these people arguing for her don't have any. This has actually been one of the most highly contested slots (Even if not at the moment), and to not talk about it in the K. Rool thread is silly.

And yes, I don't know about all of these people here getting chicken feet. I will proudly main K. Rool, though if I happen to be better with my old Dedede main it can't be helped. I still used Ganon in Brawl as my second best too, so I will still use him heavily even if he's bottom. At that point, though, of course I have to pull out a competent character.

Regardless, I am fairly sure K. Rool would be among the best heavyweights anyway with his large ranged focus and speed, like Dedede (The first remotely playable villian in Brawl, given Bowser, Ganon, and Mewtwo are unplayable messes that do not resemble their characters in the least).

The Sal Romano era: the era that should've never been.

Dixie is automatically at one disadvantage already: there are no new DKC stages shown yet, and that alone is a far better reason to keep back K.Rool than it is for Dixie. Plus, she also didn't show up on the release of Tropical Freeze, neither did she get tagged with Diddy.

So I won't worry. I still see K.Rool being more likely than her. At this point, it seems to be either K.Rool on the innitial roster, or no DKC characters on the innitial roster, and have Dixie as DLC. Or, K.Rool on the roster, Dixie as DLC. I'm actually not that worried yet, let me first see that DKC stage! It could be revealed in a similar way to Ike's reveal coupled with the Fire Emblem Arena.

I'm not even worried yet. Show us Chunky Kong already!

We all have bias. I can not see how any one could say K Rool deserves it far more than Dixie. But I know I have Dixie bias. It is a shame that the two are essentially fighting for one spot. They both earned it and are both great characters. I shouldn't be rooting against K. Rool because I want Dixie so much since he is a great character.

With that being said, it is looking more likely for K. Rool right now. But there is a good chance neither of them will make it in at this point.

Wario may be a protagonist... but can you really call him a hero? He's more of a Villain Protagonist and only does heroic things for his self greed so I'd hardly call him heroic. Metaknight definitely isn't a villain, though, while Dedede is the main antagonist of the Kirby series, even if he's not as antagonistic nowadays.


K. Rool and Ridley are definitely Nintendo's next most prominent villains, though, and are more on the lines of villains like Ganondorf rather than Bowser (whom is still the villain more often than not, but just as many times is ousted as the main villain or even becomes an ally in many games).

I wouldn't, he's just as bad off as Chunky Kong. Neither one was liked very much hence why they never appeared again after their first game.

Is it bad that I would absolutely love to play as Kiddy Kong? Sure, I'd be bummed that Dixie or K. Rool weren't on. But the addition of Kiddy would... Kind of make up for it.

Nope, not bad at all! In fact, I like you for not liking what everyone else likes. I myself preferred Kiddy vastly over Dixie in my younger years of playing DKC3. Maybe it was my 'where the hell is Diddy'-phase, which was the first time I had to experience this feeling prior to Melee. Or maybe it's cause Kiddy actually plays a lot like Diddy, but heavy. If I where to rate my favorite DKC SNES characters as a youngster, I'd easily rank them Diddy >> Kiddy > Dixie = DK. In DKC1 and DKC2, I actually never used another Kong besides Diddy

Kiddy should really get a revival role soon. It's so sad that he's the most overlooked character in Nintendo history ever, basically. When Retro Studios announced that there'd be a 4th Kong, a lot of us started speculating about Kiddy! Yet, he wasn't chosen, Cranky was. And this will likely kill any chances for Kiddy to return, outside of a scenario where we'd get another DK Barrel Blast, or Diddy Kong Racing.

I'm really not a fan of Cranky. I've NEVER really liked him, he was OK in the role he had in the DKC trilogy, but I never had a desire to play as him in any game, ever.

I've always loved DK, Diddy, Dixie and Kiddy (I will say that Kiddy is my least favorite out of the 4, but it boads well that he can stand shoulder-shoulder with some of my favorite video game characters of all time). Funnily enough, I always played DKC3 the most out of all of them, because even though it didn't have Diddy, I loved the feel of the levels the most and I always liked Dixie and Kiddy so much.

I'm not keen on Tiny either, she shouldn't have ever existed, she should have been Dixie in DK64 (I always hated that Dixie wasn't in it).

Did you know that Kiddy was going to be in Donkey Kong Racing on the Gamecube? At least that's something. (Also a huge Lanky fan lol).

It feels very limited in comparison with the other two games. I loved carrying Dixie on my back with Kiddy.

Man I missed out so much Rare stuff when I was younger, it's such a shame! I never had money, and my parents already thought I spended too much time behind my N64, so I never got games I really wanted, as StarFox 64, Paper Mario, Conker 64 and Banjo-Tooie...

Yes. The N64 is IMO, the greatest console of all time. The amount of 10/10 games it had are ridiculous. DK 64, Goldeneye, Mario 64, Banjo Kazooie, Banjo Tooie, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Paper Mario, Star Fox, Mario Kart 64, Diddy Kong Racing, Mario Tennis, Mario Party 3, Perfect Dark, Pokemon Stadium, Super Smash Bros etc.

It had a ton of awesome 3rd Party games too (WWF No Mercy and WCW Revenge are still the best wrestling games ever).

Same for me lol! I finally had to stop looping my Kremling Kakophany playlist, but regardless, the song that stands out to me the most is Finest Hour because I can imagine him saying this when he comes back. :D

Staring at that awesome concept art sure did make me think up a few points.

Either way, I can only imagine an alternate dimension where Rareware stuck with Nintendo and our dimensional counterparts with evil goatees are enjoying Donkey Kong Racing while playing as K. Rool and Ridley in Melee (shakes fist in the air).

I actually think Melee was released before the rare buyout. Chris Seavor voices Peppy and Slippy in it, and Rare are mentioned in the credits. I have no idea why Banjo-Kazooie weren't included in that, but I'm sure that they'd have been in Brawl under different circumstances.
