I made three observations earlier today...

1) Mii Fighters use many attacks that look like they were taken and modified from other fighters.

2) The Reggie Mii Brawler throws a cannonball as one of his special moves.

3) King K. Rool is pretty well known for his cannonballs.

Can any of you draw a conclusion from this?

I've drawn the conclusion that Mii Brawlers can throw cannonballs.

Sakurai was thinking of ideas for playable K. Rool but gave up later on. He had thought of one move that he really like, however, so he worked it into something else.

I'm starting to think about how K. Rool, realistically, would be portrayed in Smash and I can't help but think DK64 would make up most of his moveset. It seems to be Sakurai's favorite DK game, given the inclusion of the DK Rap in Melee and Diddy's portrayal in Smash.

He wouldn't be in boxing gear the whole time, but I can't help but think he would throw a few punches around or use the shockwave leap/other tools from it more than the other personas.

It could be. Or it could mean nothing. But I do agree, it does appear Mii specials are based on existing characters. If K. Rool is in, it wouldn't surprise me at all if K. Rool could throw cannonballs, but Mii's throwing cannonballs doesn't really mean anything for K. Rool at all.

This makes me sad. My dream K. Rool in Smash has his moveset mostly based in his appearances in DKC and DKC2, with the helicopter pack thing from DKC3 and the less possible stuff from DKC64... or nothing from that game, if possible. :p

But the thing that everyone seems to bring up from that game (the shock wave) is a butt-slam and I'll be DEAD before you take that away from me!!! >: (

I'd like references to all four of his boss battles. The butt slam shockwave I don't want except for his aerial down A because we have numerous characters that already have a "ground smash" special attack. I guess it could work, though. :p

So what's up with that new Thread Title?
People have spotted Chunky Kong in the Best Buy demo and we're trying to get proof that he's actually in the game. Once said enemy from K. ROOL's past is proven to appear we can change the title back. :D

Because he has the least potential to be a playable character out of the DK crew, so he's a safe bet for being an AT
Yeah, this exactly. Chunky Kong only appeared once in all the games, and he's not really all that notable. Hence why it makes him the perfect fit to be a Donkey Kong Assist Trophy.

The mostlikely choices for AT's would, in theory, be King K. Rool and Dixie Kong... if they weren't already planned to be playable, or at least considered. Funky and Tiny are also other possibilities, though its a bit hard to place them. There's nothing really special that Kiddy Kong can do, and Lanky Kong... well, he and some of the animal buddies do have potential for AT status, but Chunky fits in quite well at that.

Just wanted to stop by and say y'all have my support. Of the potential newcomers still left, K. Rool is one of the only ones I'd be genuinely ecstatic to see, if only because I played Donkey Kong games more than Mario games when I was little.

Same with me! Donkey Kong Country was always my favorite platforming games. Zelda was my favorite Nintendo franchise, but Donkey Kong Country was always my second.

Hey, @ BKupa666 BKupa666 ! You're famous!

http://www.dkvine.com/interactive/forums/index.php?showtopic=9339

Slush on DK Vine's made a dedicated thread for K. Rool support. Inspired by this very thread!
(Lurk there TODAY!)

I was asked to let you know we have their support (if there was any doubt about that fact)!
I just posted over there. Even though I'm not a highly frequent poster on DKVine, I still visit there most days. Brilliant site, heh.

@ Groose Groose I actually had a similar thought when I saw the shot-put (I'm always searching for connections to the King).

I think, perhaps the best part of Namco reaching into DK64 for content (Chunky, the green Kritters headbutting to attack as if to start up the Blast-o-Matic) is that, if/when K. Rool gets in, he'll have his glorious taunts from the game. "Yeeeah, thank you!!"

Oh yes, I forgot about that. I didn't care for DK64 as much as the original trilogy, but K. Rool having his taunts from DK64 would be amazing!

Yup. When I was little I didn't have a console of my own, so I only got to play Nintendo stuff at one of three places I went to: my cousins had Donkey Kong Country, my other cousin had nothing but Frogger and sports games, and my aunt had an NES with some horrible Bible game, a broken Michael Jordan vs. Larry Bird cartridge and Super Mario Bros. I much preferred DKC over the other choices. Didn't get into Mario until I owned Super Mario 64.

I'm still sad that I missed out on pretty much the entire SNES era until I got them via Homebrew on the Wii. My first times playing/beating Link to the Past, Super Mario World, Super Mario RPG, Earthbound and Super Metroid all happened after age 19. Donkey Kong and Sonic were all I got to play in my growing years!

Wolf is more anti-villain, but he's definitely the closest you can come to for a potential Smash Bros. villain from Star Fox. Wolf is far more villain than hero, but like a lot of villains he does work with the heroes from time to time. Andross really is the Star Fox main villain, and Wolf is a hired mercenary who will do anything for money, which could put him with or against the heroes.

Wolf is probably more villain than Dedede, but not more than Bowser. With K. Rool and Ridley we'd have two more fully-fledged villain characters.
Yeah, you're right. I would actually like to see Andross as a newcomer, full-body I mean. I know there's the Andross' AT, but that's just an holographic version of himself, so it wouldn't really stop him from appearing with his real body. His chances are low though, but with Star Fox U coming out next year and maybe with his return, I could totally see him as an increasingly demanded fighter for Smash 5, after K Rool (and the other fan favorites) get in, of course.

Oh, and no Chunky yet?

Bloody brilliant lads. I'm glad to see a second forum that has a dedication to DKVine's most requested lad for Smash, K Rool.

Now I reckon we ought to get some balaclava's, a pickle cutter and buy some tickets to japan. If I didn't make it clear, lets pay Sakurai a visit heh.

Problem is, Andross has never HAD a full body EVER. He's only ever been a head and hands. That's what makes Wolf the designated villain rep from Star Fox.

I don't think the roster will be somewhat in the 30s. No way! Only considering which veterans just HAVE to return gives us a roster around 42. 45 would be a good number for making 5 rows with 9 characters. 48 is also possible with 6 rows and 8 characters per row. Even 50 is possible.

So we may get 3-8 other newcomers. (I feel like 8 is a bit too much)
I think 6 newcomers would be fine to make most people happy:
- 1x retro rep: probably Takamaru
- 1x FE:Awakening newcomer: Chrom, Lucina or Robin
- 1x DK newcomer: King K.Rool, Dixie or Cranky
- 1x Metroid newcomer: Ridley
- 1x Monolith rep with Shulk(or a Xenoblade Chronicles rep, call it the way you like)
(- 1x Kirby newcomer: Bandana Dee) [in order to include all of the Kirby characters you can think of being playable]

This also to some extent would make sense because:
- in that case Sakurai first showed most low requested or not even requested newcomers with Greninja, Villager, Mii, Wii Fit Trainer and sometimes gave us a requested newcomer (E3 2013: Mega Man, February Nintendo Direct: Little Mac, E3 2014: Pac-Man)
- Palutena was in first place not that high requested but with the 3DS pictures leak the request was getting higher
- he would keep the more requested characters for the time until release + the release itself

By the way there is another point speaking for a DK character yet to come: We haven't seen a NEW DK stage, right? This can be for multiple reasons.
1) the stage would be a huge hint to which character Sakurai wants to put in (e.g.: a Tropical Freeze would clear the way for Dixie almost, while a DK64 themed stage would speak for King K.Rool and especially against Dixie)
-> however Metroid got a Pyrosphere stage already teasing Ridley multiple times too, so this isn't necessarily a point
2) there is no new DK stage
-> I highly doubt this one as we have two possibilities for most recent appeared DKC games: DKCR and DKC:TF as well as we got no DK64 stage in the Smash Bros history yet, right? So there are still enough possibilities for new DK stages.
3) Sakurai just will show us randomly at some point a DK stage without using it as a hint
-> possible.
4) Sakurai just will show us randomly at some point a DK stageby using it as a hint for a DK newcomer (see the examples of point 1)

After all I still believe in the King. Sakurai just needs to confirm Ridley and K.Rool right before the release of SSB3DS and you will see how the hype goes up!

I personally see the chance of a Zelda newcomer far higher than a Kirby newcomer, and especialyl a Metroid newcomer. Ridley is out since the Direct people... I even doubt Takamaru at this point. DKC and Zelda are the biggest series yet, and with Mario and Pokémon getting new faces, so should they.

Anyway, I do think a Fire Emblem newcomer is very likely. And it'll likely be Chrom.

But yes, I'll be extremely looking out for the DKC stage to.

Bowling ball would make the most sense. Not that it should matter or anything. Cause we saw Sword Mii do a Marth / Ike Counter, and I doubt that anyone would not expect Chrom at this point.

The Mii Fighters just look like they took a lot of inspiration from a lot of characters. Brawler gave me Ganondorf / Captain Falcon / Little Mac vibes. Swordfighter gave Marth / Ike vibes. Gunner, Samus and MegaMan.

The conclusion I've drawn from this, after having made this observation numerous times in their trailer, is that like many other moves in the Mii repertoire, they borrow a lot of specials/normals from other Smashers.

K. Rool confirmed!

There were 2 rumors he was playable but seeing as it also had Tingle playable too, one was a bust while the other still stands. (Horribly gloom but stands.)

So I've been doing some thinking about a hypothetical K. Rool reveal trailer, and I've thought of something that I think could be fitting and funny at the same time. A grand entrance befitting the King.
*flash Smash logo*
*fwoooo~flames burning*
It starts with a full-screen recording of a basic four-person match in Smash 64. The fighters consist of Mario, Yoshi, DK, and Samus on Kongo Jungle. The match is shown for a good four or five seconds before it starts glitching up and changes to static. It then zooms out of full-screen and then changes to a match in Melee consisting of Donkey Kong, Bowser, Ganondorf, and Mewtwo on Jungle Japes, during which the camera zooms out revealing that the match is being displayed on a small TV. It zooms out further showing a single armrest of a metal seat. A hand, too dark to make out exactly whose it may be, is seen impatiently tapping its fingers in a wave-like rhythm. The screen then cuts to static again, and then fades into a Brawl match between Bowser, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, and King Dedede on Rumble Falls. The hand then slowly scrapes its fingers against the armrest, as if holding back incredible rage. The screen cuts to static again, and then shows a Smash4Wii-U match again between Bowser, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, and Dedede on Battlefield. The hand then clumps into a fists and violently pounds on the armrest. Another hand then pops up from off-screen, holding a letter. The hand on the armrest takes it and brings it closer to the camera, bringing the Smash logo into focus.
Cut to Bowser, DK, Diddy, and Dedede fighting on the "Final Destination" Battlefield. It shows them fighting for a good few seconds before the sound of many spinning helicopter blades fade in. After it gets noticeably loud, the four fighters cease fighting and look up to the sky.
The Flying Crock, high in the sky, gets closer and closer to the battlefield. It stops and then a giant platform begins descending from the underside of the Flying Crock. The platform stops lowering, and then an overhead view reveals it to be a huge symphony orchestra. A kritter in a tuxedo is the conductor, and various kinds of kremlings make up the players. The konductor taps on the sheet music holder a few times and begins conducting. Cue an orchestrated rendition of the King Krusha K. Rool introduction theme! The crocodile head front of the Flying Crock begins raising its upper "jaw." The fighters look dumbstruck. The jaw finishes raising and, from afar, a figure is seen standing one the edge of the lower "jaw." Cut to the top of a big golden crown. Cut again to a flowing, red cape. Cut one more time to the blunderbuss, held in one hand, is lowered into the other hand. And then zoom out revealing King K. Rool's whole torso and head.
"KING K. ROOL
Krashes the Battle!"
Cue montage with remix of your favorite K. Rool battle theme playing.

K. Rool would of course put in the effort to make a huge, dramatic entrance! :p

No, the Miis throw a shot put. Not a cannonball.

King K. Rool seems more likely if the Chunky Kong assist trophy thing is true. The Kritters already point towards him anyway.

I'm wary on the Chunky assist because we've seen absolutely no footage and a lot of people are using it as lame trolling attempts.
