So interesting news everyone. I went through and deleted as many fraud votes as I could find. Most characters had a small amount of fraud votes (<10). Shantae had around 40, Snake had about 20, and (see above for Ashley :/).

Some news to report, the data that is current seems to be accurate and legit. Shantae is beating the Kroc by nearly 60 votes! Good on the Shantae community to pull together for this one. My goal is 15k, and we are already at 2k, so lets say we give the Kroc a hand!

Edit: decided to hand count EVERYSINGLE vote for Shantae, and found the fraud votes. What a chore. While yes Shantae is giving a large amount of legit support, she is getting spammed like crazy by the same person.

The inbetween
can you explain your sig to me, it's been bothering me
its a gif i made in ms paint of k rool biting,if you remember dkc and dkc 2 when there is a level that hasnt been beaten yet it shows a kremlings head on it with a biting animation and after you complete the stage it shows dk/diddys face over it showing that you cleared the territory of kremlings/you cleared the stage.

well i made one of k rool biting in that fashion but in my sig it cuts off the rest of his face and only leaves his eyes/krown making it look like he might be doing something bad down there that you cant see, here is the full image http://cdn.makeagif.com/media/3-15-2015/5Qj0L4.gif

as for the poll i think we should post it in as many places as we can, kremling kampagner from twitter could post it there to get to the k rool fans who are not aware of the poll to vote

Hey Senselessbreak, how do you look through the IPs in polltaker, I'm curious of my results for the daily ballot poll.

I like K Rool as a character and aesthetically, but he got me into DK, not the other way round. My interest in him is probably in larger part fuelled by moveset potential and how he could be implemented as a character I'd love to play as. Take that away and while I'd be very happy for his inclusion, I'm not sure I'd be hyped.

I know this isn't really K. Rool related entirely, but, to spark some discussion, which DKC game do you prefer? Donkey Kong Country, Diddy's Kong Quest, Dixie Kong's Double Trouble, Returns, or Tropical Freeze? Also, to keep K. Rool discussion going, which alias of K. Rool's do you like the most from the original trilogy?

In my nostalgia-free opinion (I didn't grow up with these games), I'll be the odd Kutthroat out and say Dixie Kong's Double Trouble was my favorite. I really loved the variety and sci-fi sort of feel the game has. And, contrary to popular belief, no, Kiddy Kong doesn't suck. 'TIS A FACT HUE

Regarding the soundtrack, I think you have to understand the direction that Eveline Fischer/Novakovik was taking. It's not intended to be catchy tunes you whistle to. It's supposed to be more ambient (usually), moody, and overall more atmospheric than anything. Take Water World, for example. This piece is focused on giving an unsettling, lonely, lost feeling to the player. Or look at Nuts and Bolts. It has a industrial rhythm to it. Hard drums, machinery sounds... It's as if the factory is making music. It's overall my favorite DKC soundtrack.

I'd also say that K. Rool's King persona is my favorite. I know I said Baron was my fav a few pages back or so, but I've changed my mind.

Just wondering why do you guys care so much about these polls when they mean nothing in terms of the real ballot?

All of the DKC games are great, but if I had to pick I would say Tropical Freeze and the original DKC. As for K. Rool, I'd say either the King persona for it's memorability and it being really iconic, or the Kaptain persona because of it's uniqueness during the boss fight.

Eh, we don't really have much else to speculate about at this point in time, and they may also give us a some-what accurate image of what the final Ballot results may end up like (Although they're not completely accurate, they can still give us a rough outline of popular character choices).

There's validity to wanting K. Rool to win the bigger fan polls, so if sites like GoNintendo and Nintendo Life pick them up as legitimate news stories to send out to an audience of thousands (like what happened to that BS Shantae one from yesterday), it can add momentum to getting people to vote K. Rool on the ballot itself. But I agree, the single-minded fervor with which people spam votes to "make Shantae win fan polls" is ridiculous.

The takeaway should be for K. Rool fans to put in a vote for him if fans create some poll where they can do so, but to focus their actual efforts on the ballot itself. We've got just over a month to go, and need to make as strong a showing as possible. Remember, this affects more than just which characters get chosen for Smash, like the difference between K. Rool coming back once and coming back for good.

The point or voting on amatuer polls is the simple act of an exit polling. They are used to give us a good idea who the top contenders are. And actually help get more votes as BKupa666 pointed out.

Not to knock Shantae but how is there serious discussion about including a rather small third party character over a villain who pioneered a main Nintendo franchise? I could understand if she were Sonic but she's not.

So apparently Nintendo released a bunch of release dates for Wii U games and amiibo for the rest of the year.

Is this old news? Am I :079:

Star Fox Zero to come out in later November, along with the Falco amiibo. If they intended to hold Wolf until then he'll be long after the Ballot.

Because of all this, Pokken coming to Wii U and pretty much every worth while release date already given, I don't think we'll be having a Direct this year, otherwise it would essentially be stuff we already know?

Probably has to do with Wayforward themselves supporting her inclusion.

We'll definitely have some sort of live presentation in October for certain to end the Smash ballot. Maybe it'll be Smash only, though.

If it's Smash only then it's likley K. Rool won't be announced as one of the winners of the ballot until next year when they announce a new DK game, that is of course assuming Suckherside has chosen him.

I take it that Shantae does have that as an advantage. I mean, besides the Fan-made Twitter Campaigns, Wayforward is one of the few companies that plenty of people likely follow, so they have that. And the fact that Shantae, unlike most other Indies, has a good chance to get in. I mean, even Banjo and Kazooie is a stretch, but Shantae has a fairly larger chance, going by the whole 'relevancy, history, status with Nintendo' and all.

So really I'm not surprised Shantae is doing so well. I actually would adore Shantae in Smash as well, but of course, the King is still #1 priority for me.

Keep your heads up Kutthroats!
DK fans got a lot of love in Brawl.

This, Diddy, Bramble Blast just to name a few.

Shame Rumble Falls happened :p

To be fair, Nintendo would have known that Iwata was ill for some time now. The event itself came as a shock to us, because we don't know what goes on inside Nintendo's walls, but Iwata was clearly struggling with this condition for months at least. That kind of upset would naturally provoke the people in charge to sit down and decide what the best course of action is, in the event that Iwata really did pass away. I wouldn't be too surprised if Iwata himself was involved in that kind of discussion: I don't think anybody really expected him to die so suddenly, but as a business, you have to make preparations for the eventuality.
He didn't look too bad the last time he was seen. He looked a little thin, but I certainly didn't expect him to pass on. Just so sudden, heard everything was going well and then...well, yeah. :(

No, I'm absolutely positive its still coming to Wii U, there's no reason to doubt that. They just realized this year they announced the game too early.
Here in Australia, our gaming stores are advertising Zelda on Wii U and youre able to preorder it. I don't know if that says anything or not.

You'd think people would hold off on preorders until an actual name of a game is decided upon, let alone when it has a release date. Pretty sure Zelda U is just a palceholder like Star Fox U was (which became Star Fox Zero)

True but I guess if a game is hype enough you can't help but to pre-order it immediately. Sounds like something I would do, I mean if they were to name the next DKC game Donkey Kong Country Returns 3 but nothing was official about the title yet and then changed it to Donkey Kong Country: K. Rool Returns then I'd be ok with that.

For me DKC2 is the superior game out of the original trilogy, but DKC3 is my personal favourite. I enjoyed the quirky and unique levels and the Lost World. The overworld map and more collectables really fleshed the game out as well. Some of the bosses are lackluster though. Belcha, Squirt, etc. Its the main DKC title I most fondly remember playing as a child.

Kaptain is my fave K. Rool get-up, blunderbuss and all.

No I mean, I'm sure fans would preorder the moment it becomes available, but many shops at least in my area won't do pre-orders until a release date is up, let alone an official name not even being decided upon (or at least revealed) yet.

Donkey Kong Country 2 has been my favorite video game of all time until Mother 3 stepped into my life half a year ago.
It's still my favorite platformer, closely followed by Tropical Freeze. Nothing can beat Pirate Crocodiles, though.

The game just has incredible atmosphere. the artstyle is gorgeous and the music is just dreamy. Bramble Scramble is my favorite level, period. Everything flows together oh so nicely. Squawks sections, a hidden Squitter one, the bramble theme at night, stickerbrush symphony playing in the back... and the night time makes everything in the forground pop out, especially the Zingers!

The Kaptain is my favorite K.Rool Alt. The coat suits him surprisingly well and the Boss battle(s) were fun and really challenging, especially for the small me back then.

I know this is unrelated to K. Rool or Donkey Kong but I know there are Ridley fans in here, and therefor Metroid fans. If someone never played a Metroid game before wanted to pick one to play, which would you choose? I would assume Super Metroid but I could be wrong.

Edit: Oh, wait, Super Metroid isn't on the 3DS eshop, only the original Metroid is. Well damn.

super metroid is probably the best in the series but i'd reccomend starting with zero mission if you can get it. NES metroid has kind of aged badly and is an absolutely brutal start.

Super Metroid is on the Wii U eShop. 3DS at this point in time only has NES and Game Boy games on the eShop, though I have a feeling soon new 3DS owners are going to be able to get at least SNES and GBA titles, maybe even DS.

DKC2, without a doubt. That and DK64 were the games for me when I was young. After those two, I'd probably say the Returns duo. I'm actually not a huge fan of the original DKC. I mean, it's a decent game, but I guess having played DKC2 first it just felt like a downgrade and didn't leave much of an impression. DKC3 I haven't really played - when I was a kid, I thought it was weird or something and have yet to get back to it (despite having bought it on Wii U VC).

My favourite K. Rool alias is Kaptain. The whole pirate theme just fits him really well.

DKC2: Diddy's Kong Quest is my favorite. For the aliases, I like the Kaptain the most.

DKC2 is my favorite game ever, so safe to say it's also my favorite Donkey Kong game. DKC1 comes real close though, because the atmosphere of that game is just so damn, intensively deep. Might just be my nostalgia goggles, but DKC1 to me really has the best scenery of all games I ever played. DKC2 comes close to the same level, but to me it's mostly the gameplay and the introduction of Bonus Levels and collectables, and The Lost World and the better tagteam mechanics that make DKC2 the superiour title in the end. DKC3 is slightly behind DKC1 for me personally, but it's still easily in my Top 5 of best games ever. I have a real hard time to decide which game I like better between DKC3, Returns, and DK64 (keep in mind: I didn't play Tropical Freeze) but after these games, I'd definitely put DK Jungle Climber up there to. I swear, DK Jungle Climber felt like a God-send gift at the time it was released.

Btw, Xananab would make for an awesome Assist Trophy.

Pot meet kettle.
I vote on fan polls and spread them on the Kampaign Twitter account. I don't create bots and spend hours each day putting in 63 or 90(!!) votes or whatever has happened with Shantae or Daisy or whoever on polls that don't even matter in the long run.

If I had to guess, they do it to fabricate a single piece of "evidence" they can throw around to justify saying "many many fans want my character in Smash and they're so popular." It's what we and Isaac have the luxury of doing, after all.

By the way, how many of these fan polls have actually been picked up by gaming sites? If there are so many accusations of fraudulent voting, I'm pretty sure they'd shy away from these.
This one, plus an earlier Reddit one that Shovel Knight (remember him?) won, with us coming in second. Beyond that, I'm not sure.
