Heh, fun that he's cool humored about it, some actors think of themselves of above old roles, or get annoyed when they are only remembered or iconized because of it(that's part of the reason Mark Hamil went to voice acting, he got steorecasted as a good guy)

How are you, fellow Kutthroats? People are talking about K. Rool more than ever these days, and that's great. In lieu of this I have been drafting up a model sheet for future use, the progress of which you can see for yourself below. It is an almost 1:1 of his original appearance in the celebrated Donkey Kong Country trilogy. Who knows... maybe we'll be seeing it again soon!!

Anyone else find it a bit odd that in Rare's design, K. Rool's lower jaw goes right inside his upper jaw? For the longest time I used to think BKupa's avatar didn't have a lower jaw. :laugh::facepalm:

Because that wouldn't always be the case in the West...Ridley was way more popular than most characters pre-release, for example, but was way less expected than holy shoo-ins like Chrom/Dixie/Chorus Kids.

Ridley was wanted and expected in both Japan and the West. Unfortunately, fan expectations clashed with Sakurai's game design principle. In cases like that, game design principles are always going to win. Fans can demand all the characters they want but at the end of the day Sakurai has the final say.

No, I get that. I'm just wondering if there are cases in your new study where expectancy isn't always directly proportional to want. A character can be expected but not top any popularity charts, after all.

Not sure if casual players knew about them, but I'm sure a majority of core fans at least heard of them before the Ballot. But I really don't care for either Shantae or Layton when it comes to Smash Bros.

I knew who Professor Layton was from hearing about his games. I only heard of Shantae from Tumblr. I never played their games, and I think they are okay. Though I want our Kremling King first; I wouldn't care much for the ballot if King K. Rool is confirmed except Wolf, who's probably getting in anyway.

EDIT: Speaking of K. Rool, is there any custom stages that is similar to Gangplank Galleon?

I've heard of Shantae before the ballot, but she was insignificant then, and insignificant now. The only reason she has a voice recently was because "Every company suddenly pushing their own reps".

I've wanted K Rool since the melee days, and hes always had strong support, but his has grown a lot since those days. More people expected characters like Chrom in Smash 4, but now that Fire Emblem is over saturated with reps, I feel many want to support the DKC series. K Rool is just the most likable and has the best moveset potential.

Look up my name on miiverse, it's Tyler-Rex. You'll find this custom GG stage "King K. Rool/Ship Deck 2" and all.

Like should we .... idek. It bugs me how long nintendo has kept us waiting for ANYTHING lately. Not even a teaser. Look at how fighting games like Killer Instinct keep their audience fed... We're like hungry puppys who have a dream of playing as a crocodile in a video game scratching at Nintendo's locked door.

I know it's hard to stay on topic when you have almost nothing new to talk about... but you guys have a very good record of staying on topic even in news droughts, and I like to quote the thread as an example in threads that go off topic more often. So...

You see @ FalKoopa FalKoopa the secret to our success on staying on topic (despite having our pages double and triple even the second most supported characters who have their threads go off topic constantly) is that us Kutthroats will always...

ALWAYS...

...find a way to link the subject back to K. Rool and make even the most seemingly off topic discussions relevant to the fat king kroc. Not sure if that's a testament to the King's diverse appeal or just our insane fascination for the obese reptile monarch.

Here's a thought Kutthroats...

Take an off topic related subject, be one you made up or ones we see frequently, and try to make it relevant to K. Rool through several back and forth dialogue scenarios like @ S Senselessbreak and myself have done.

Edit: I AM wondering what effects and implications there would be if someone credited one of K. Rool's voice actors for Smash. It would be a scummy move sure but we already have sites saying Shantae is coming for DLC. We're in the last month of the ballot and leaks and rumors are dropping left and right and all the major gaming sites and articles are EATING THIS STUFF UP. Think now is our chance to act? Or should we wash our claws clean of this nonsense?

Yeah, I know what you mean. But hey, I did the best I could with what I had. I still wish I could make the flag and pole as just a background as part of the stage and put a kremling skull on it but unfortantley I can't so whatever. Still hope an official version gets confirmed though then I won't need this temporary one anymore.
