1. I enjoyed the challenge of Kaptain K. Rool from DKC2. Although my favorite music from any of King K. Rool's boss fights would have to be Baron K. Roolenstein from DKC3.

1. Probably the DK64 one. Very long and funny. Though the final was always weird to me (Why K. Rool is lusting over a monkey?. And Funky's bazooka needed more impact).

2. DKC=Any factory level DKC2=Any bramble level DKC3=Any waterfall level. Haven't replayed the others enough to remember all the levels.

3. Looking for heavyweights to support for the new Smash. And since I was a big fan of Rare when I was a kid. I had fond memories of fighting him. This thread had it easy convincing me.

4. I really thought it was over for K. Rool. And being a huge Smash fan who idolizes Sakurai, for the first time ever I was disappointed at him. I couldn't sleep that night. Luckily, the next morning this thread cheered me up.

5. Thought he was not gonna happen. Didn't believed in Gematsu entirely. But I believed that Sakurai could skip K. Rool like he skipped Ridley. Thankfully; back then I had a brand new Smash to cheer me up, and the ballot makes it harder to ignore K. Rool this time.

6. Watching the cartoon in HBO as a kid. At one episode the Kremlings cheered "Gasolina, plumon y papel! Arriba el Rey Kruel!". Which translates to "Gasoline, marker and paper! Horray for King K. Rool!". And yes, that doesn't make sense in both languages, except that it rhymes in spanish.

7. Wartbags then finishes with eyeball ice cream for dessert. How horrid!

1: Although I've yet to fight him in any game DKC game, I do like his Kaptain K. Rool battle.
2: Can't really make a judgement here yet. Though that Sawmill Level in Tropical Freeze... Good thing I have around 70+ Life Balloons. Now that I think about it, the cave level with the Kremlings who become active on the green light in DKC was pretty tense as I was playing it.
3: At the time, I was more invested in Ridley, but during the era of darkness that was the 3DS release, I wanted to know why he was a popular choice to begin with, and I became interested in his potential. Admittedly I wasn't really fussed over Donkey Kong at the time,

Also, I have some great news guys: I finally got my Charizard amiibo. Somehow Wal-mart's online store got one in stock and I grabbed it up just finding it randomly. He looks so great beside Pikachu on my end table, my two mains both have an amiibo <3, if I wasn't a bonehead and got rid of my Wii U I could have been playing Pikachu and Charizard in Super Mario Maker (I got REALLY upset with Nintendo after this year's E3 and I was hard up on cash...and the only game I really cared about was Smash but I had that on 3DS already)...AND, at the time, Pokemon amiibo could only be used in Smash, so I got upset that my preferred amiibo wouldn't work in Super Mario Maker.

I'ma bonehead. But it's fine, I'm sure the NX will be backwards compatible.

2. DKC : never played it (shoo, shame on you)
DKC2 : Didn't either, but PB&J playthrough made the Carnaval one look cool
DKC3 : Same than the first one.
DKCR : I like the prehistoric one overall (long time I played it)

1. DKC2 by a fair margin.
2. DKC- Slipside Ride, Blackout Basement, Mine Cart Carnage, Elevator Antics, theres a few more I can't remember
DKC2- Rattle Battle, Windy Well, Haunted Hall, few more I can't remember.
DKC3- Krack Shot Croc, Tearaway Toboggan, Pot Hole Panic, Buzzer Barage, Lightning Lookout, Ropey Rumpus, Koindozer Klamber, All the Lost World ones bar Rocket Rush and Kong Fused Cliffs

Can't remember all the names from DKCR and TF, Tidal Terror was good,and the Fruit themed levels n TF stood out for me.

3. Big fan of the DK series and its characters, I'd have a ton of fun playing as him(based on hypothetical movesets) and appreciate the character and its personality.
4. I was disappointed at first and thought our chances were close to done but there is still a Glimmer(Galleon) of hope for our King.
5. I didn't actively participate in speculation back then so am not too familiar with the leaks. I thought Dixie was more likely at the time due to TF.
6. Being the wacky tyrant he is and being a challenging and fun boss to fight as.

1- Kaptain K.Rool all the way.
2 - DKC: First level (I don't remember the name), DKC2: Red-hot ride(Balloon level), DKC3: Kong-Fused Cliffs(dat rope burning)
3- He is DK villain, DK is my favorite series.I like Dixie more than K.Rool, but I think he would be greater to Smash itself.
4- Positive! I think that's a signal and not a denial. I will buy it only next year, if no DLC be announced.
5- Not much likely. Dixie was almost confirmed in my book... she was very more possible in my mind that days.

I don't really see Cranky being that "unique" either. There is the pogo jump, but that's the only real "unique" think going for him, and even then, that kind of move isn't something that works well in Smash because it'd be op. That's why moves that come crashing down end instead of bounce back. Repeatedly spamming the same attack simply does not work as a mechanic, which GREATLY limits the capability of implementing such a feature.


Tons of characters could've already used such a move; Sonic being one that's already in the game, and Ridley uses it as a mechanic in several boss battles, too.

1) Can't say I have one, I have yet to face K. Rool. I played DKC1, DK64, and Tropical Freeze (I know he's not in it) only partially on each one before stopping and selling my Wii U. From what the looks of it, his DKC2 fight looks the coolest because it's the most hectic and likely the most challenging, and the best place to pull moveset potential from.
2) I like Mangrove Cove if that counts?
3) When Ridley became a dead stick in the water, I needed another reptile to support, K. Rool felt like the best choice at the time even if, before the ballot and before the ESRB leak, I didn't pay much attention to him.
4) Pissed, and afraid, afraid that the Kutthroats would receive it as bad or worse than the Ridley fans in terms of teasing. Lost a night of sleep because of it. Now I see the costume as a distraction rather than an obstacle.
5) Didn't think he was likely at all. There was no indication anywhere he was being planned. I was more hoping for Ridley at the time.
6) Never experienced him outside of some cutscenes in DK64 but I loved the ones I seen.
7) Chocolate.

I realize it looks weird but the point of the gif is the finger tapping. This is a very commonly used gif here in this thread for reactions like this. And that kremling is a klap trap, which are more like pets than soldiers to K. Rool. They don't talk, and sound and act exactly like dogs, so to the Kremlings, klap traps are (rabid and voracious) dogs. Crocodile dogs. So it's like Mr. Bigglesworth (the cat for every evil villain) to K. Rool. It just looks weird trying to sit on his stubby leg or non existent lap and it looks strange because of it.

Since Super Mario Maker is getting loads of characters like Slippy Toad, Ashley and Waluigi. That sprite someone made for K. Rool in the game might become a reality.
Or at least, I hope we can get more of the DK sprites besides Diddy and Donkey. Of course, if K. Rool or Dixie become playable in Smash, being playable in Super Mario Maker will be even less farfetched.

Is there even any evidence that Dixie has been worked on after the concept of a tag team with Diddy was discarded? Because "bringing back the forbidden 7" would mean jack if Dixie was never considered a viable standalone candidate by samurai.

That I'm not too particularly sure on. All I know is she was going to tag team with Diddy and when that when out the window, Diddy was going solo and Dixie was just left by the wayside after. It's very possible Sakurai might not see Dixie being able to hold her own on the roster without being the Nana to Diddy's Popo where as Diddy had enough of his own star power to be included (also because he appears in various Mario Spin Offs himself, namely Mario Strikers Charged, Sluggers (but so did Dixie and K. Rool, and some Kremlings even, it was DKC heaven), and Mario Kart Double Dash) generally anytime Donkey Kong needs a sidekick in a Mario spinoff, Diddy's always there to back him up.

1. Super Sluggers I don't really have one. Most likely the 64 one.

Well, keep in mind that the competition has been going on since August 6. Miiverse updates popular posts every day, so most days do not have that K. Rool dominance. Nevertheless, it's impressive to see yesterday's surge and the surge a few days ago (8/11 and 8/12). In any case, it's good news, since I doubt the dev. team will just scroll through 2 weeks of entries. They will probably look the the most popular. Either way, we are in a good position. Pretty sure that the K. Rool gallery would catch one's eye just scrolling through.

Yeesh. Amiibo Zard really gave me a run for my money in a mirror match! I actually picked up a few things from Pika-miibo and Zard-miibo for my own use on the two characters.

If K. Rool is playable and has an accompanying Amiibo, will neglect to buy it, buy it for a collector's item, buy it to sell later for profit, or do you intend to use the amiibo? If so, do you plan to level it to 50 and practice against it? I like to take my amiibos into team matches with me. If I could make any change to "Group" mode in Wii U and 3DS, is to allow Amiibo figure players to accompany you and not just a player can. That way they really feel like they're your little buddies, and get more use out of them outside of Smash mode.

Where is it advertised? I don't see it anywhere in the game at the moment.

I saw it in the "News" section right at the top of the main menu. there are more messages than that scrolling by, such as "visit the smash bros facebook" or "buy the newest mii costumes".

Just wait a little bit until it says:"check out the smash bros fighter ballot at smashbros.com" - or something like that.

1. Kaptain K. Rool (both battles) in DKC2.
2. Hard to say, I liked many of them.
3. I hadn't played DK series much but I though he looked kool and I've always liked krokodiles. When I first played DKC I started to want him to Smash Bros even more.
4. I was konfused and angry, and I started to dislike the Mii Fighters even more (and will loathe them if K. Rool is just a kostume)
5. I still saw him very likely, partially because I didn't want to believe to Gematsu Leak, Mega Man and Little Mac were only kharakters of the leak that I actually wanted.
6. Beating him in all three original DKC games.

1. It's hard to choose between the boss battle in the original DKC or DKC2, but if I had to choose I would say DKC2's boss fight was slightly better. Both of them are some of the best boss fights I have exprienced and DKC2's final fight left me wanting more.
2. DKC the first minecart level, DKC2 Pirate Panic and Mainbrace Mayhem, DKC3 Konveyor Rope Klash.
3. He is a character from my childhood I care about. I also love his personality and see a lot of potential in his movest.
4. I had just woken up and was still half asleep, but when I saw the costume for a second my heart stopped and I got happy because I thought it was the real King K. Rool. After the image full registered in my brain I immediately was like what the hell Sakurai. I then came here to see everyone's reaction.
5. I thought he still had a chance and was hopeful.
6. Yes. I remember watching the VHS of the DKC cartoon again and again with my older brother. It was always his favorite movie so we would watch it a lot. Even back then K. Rool was my favorite thing about the DK series. He was full of personality and stood out over the other characters.

I don't want to be that guy, but I'm not sure how to feel about this flood of K. Rool pics in this contest. It seems logical to think it's an amazing way to give him exposure, especially directly to Sakurai, but this is a photo contest after all, and its first purpose should be to post a unity-themed photo. I'm not saying it's wrong to use this contest as a way to give exposure to our most wanted character, but as least we should try to match the "unity" theme, and many K. Rool pics I've seen don't feel like they follow it :/

Besides, I've already posted my own pic on this contest, depicting Fire Emblem characters going into a war alongside... Waluigi, because his trophy pose makes him look like he's running recklessly trying to threaten an enemy and he looks hilariously fitting alongside those Fire Emblem characters:

On an unrelated note, it's interesting to see that according to my "Which DLCs did you buy" poll, the K. Rool costume is apparently doing better than the other costumes. Of course there's not enough data in this poll as of now, but it's encouraging to see that it sold better than average for a Mii costume. I want to see this trend continue so I can have faith in my "They want to make as much money out of him as possible before releasing the real deal" theory.

@Speedwagon I'm going to answer your additional questions later... okay, I'll be nice and answer the ice cream one: my favourite is chestnut ice cream, unfortunately it is a unicorn ice cream taste outside of the Christmas season, and even then it is kinda hard to find (I remembered when my father bought all the last three yule logs made of chestnut ice cream at the supermarket, because he knew I love it that much, lol).
