How to unlock K. Rool trophy: Play as Gonondorf and hit Sandbag at least 3280 ft. in Solo Home-Run Contest.

I can see my (and many other users here) pictures! It's amazing how our efforts led to that many submissions! Hopefully Sakurai and the team pick at least one of these many great snap shots!

Best case scenario we get both the Melee version, maybe the original 64 version, and a brand new remix. That fake K. Rool leak from late July claimed that Grant Kirkhope was working on a DK Rap remix, and David Wise was making a Gangplank Galleon remix. I personally would love a new DK Rap remix, especially if it was by Kirkhope.

Oh man how I don't want Dixie anymore. Rool, only Rool. I don't care about the reasons why Lucina, Dark Pit and Dr.Mario were changed into characters all I know is that compared to the originals they are pretty bad, and personally I would have rathered a smaller roster with more unique characters than three clones who are pretty much wastes of time if you ask me. Lucas and Roy are great because they are improvements on their predecessors along with being pretty different in some respects. If Ryu is the only newcomer that is indeed "unique" the salt levels I will have will be astronomical.

You don't know if Dixie would be a clone.
That reason about your hate for the clones is ridiculous, speacially with the existence of patches.
Roy and Lucas are not better than Marth or Ness and the only clone that is really inferior to his counterpart is Dr.Mario, and he is not really that bad, unlike your main Mewtwo, ups.
Ryu being the only 100% unique newcomer is extremely unlikely.

I think that Dixie would likely not be 100% original, but I find it extremely unlikely she'd also be 100% unique as well. Which is also why I'm iffy on her getting added later.

I really don't understand your thought process on this. Instead of three clones, a smaller roster with more unique characters? Who needs a better recovery when you have excellent aerials, range and a grab that kills extremely early.
Roy has basically the same kill power as Marth, just different sweetspots, Roy is also a fast faller, he can be comboed badly, has a terrible recovery, etc. He is overrated, I don't even think he is better than Lucina, Lucina is not really that bad compared to Marth, specially after the last patches.
But yeah, those characters are not bad and this is off-topic, so I will stop.

I said Wolf because I always make this comparison:

Wolf = "Grey Fox, but with claws", he uses his claws in like 90% of his moveset to be different from Fox, but his specials are variations of Fox's.
Dixie= "Female Diddy, but with long hair", he would probably use her hair for a lot of attacks and some of her specials would be variations of Diddy's.

As much as I'm not a fan of Lucina and Dark Pit, their potential inclusions afaik didn't take away a spot from another character.

Wasn't there a quote from Sakurai where he mentioned that the clones took up little development time and even if they weren't added in that doesn't mean there would be time to add a unique character?

In the event we don't get K. Rool I'll be disappointed because there is so much you can do with K. Rool. We all know it and hopefully Sakurai is aware enough to make him a stand alone character...

I'd love to see Dixie/Cranky f K. Rool doesn't make it, that would soften the blow. There is enough to work with in regards to making Dixie more different compared to Diddy without being a full on clone. FE and Earthbound got semi clones....nothing wrong with DK getting one if we were to not get our King.

Obviously her hair can be used to grab, attack, recover, pick up items.
Using steel kegs a projectile, which are staples specifically in DKC3
Attacking using bubblegum and her guitar.
She could incorporate some Animal Buddies in her moveset. (Squawks to recover, Rambi as a side B for example)

Those last two are perhaps stretching it a bit. I think Cranky might have the edge in regards to having more breadth of moves, that is if we aren't counting Scrooge McDuck

I don't really see Cranky being that "unique" either. There is the pogo jump, but that's the only real "unique" think going for him, and even then, that kind of move isn't something that works well in Smash because it'd be op. That's why moves that come crashing down end instead of bounce back. Repeatedly spamming the same attack simply does not work as a mechanic, which GREATLY limits the capability of implementing such a feature.

Tons of characters could've already used such a move; Sonic being one that's already in the game, and Ridley uses it as a mechanic in several boss battles, too.

At this rate, no matter how interesting other DK characters may or may not be or how many of them we get that aren't K. Rool, nothing would "soften the blow" or "satisfy" this DK fan except K. Rool himself (and it's condescending when outside observers say "just throw in a DK rep because one is as good as any other"). He offers playstyle and personality that can't be replicated by anyone else, and has unique support among Smash fans that, if ignored at this point, is a sad reflection on what "fan service" is now considered to be from the top down. I like Dixie and I like Cranky, but K. Rool transcends them and nearly every other candidate in my book, so there's no such thing as "compensation" for his exclusion.

I can't believe some people still think Dixie would be a full-blown clone as DLC. Clones are unoriginal due to time constraints and requiring limited resources. DLC removes those restraints, so they'd have time to make her more unique. I think she'd be similar to Luigi or Wolf in terms of uniqueness.

As for getting both DK characters, I think if we do it'd be at the same time, possibly with a stage. Dixie could potentially be pre-ballot DLC, because Sakurai seems to like her more than K. Rool. They could have delayed her reveal to wait for K. Rool to be ready to be released.

Sadly I don't think that's happening though. Sakurai doesn't like DK and I think the costume is just compensation because he doesn't think K. Rool would make a good fighter for whatever reason.

1. Probably DK64. Using all the kongs to defeat him really felt like you were using everything you learned in the game to fight him.
2.None in particular in DKC 1 or DKC 3, but the roller coaster levels in DKC 2 were very fun to play. DKCR has the very fun (and rage inducing) Rocket Barrels, and so does DKCTF, as well as Wing Ding, Grassland Groove and some others.
3. His personality, uniqueness, move potential and importance to the DK games made me want him.
4.I woke up, and thought to myself ''What the H*ll?''. I then went across the Internet to see what other K. Rool fans reactions were.
5. I thought he was still likely, as

wasn't part of the ''leak'' and got confirmed.
6.Yes, especially in DK64, where his unique personality was shown throughout almost every cut scene.

1. Kaptain. Most fun, most difficult, and best music.
2. I can't choose. Too many.
3. Love the character.
4. Shock and disappointment.
5. Unlikely, but not impossibe.

I know this is unrelated to anything, but in Melee (I don't own the game so I'm using the Wiki), does Diddy not have a trophy? Dixie has one and so does K. Rool but it looks like they didn't make one for Diddy which kind of confuses me. (They even made one for DK Jr. for crying out loud).

I was thinking about it and I kind of want to wonder as to why so many resources went into K. Rool's costume. I'm pretty sure most of us would've expected it to have stuff from its already existing trophy. I have a couple reasons as to why they did this:

-The most unlikely reason in my eyes: Making the brand new textures to be a consolation prize. I don't see why Sakurai and the team would put so much effort into a 75 cent costume.
-The new design is based on a possible reappearance: I could see this one, actually (a cross promotional-type situation).
-The new design is from or is for a brand new design of King K. Rool in the game: Pretty self-explanatory
-It could mean nothing and the team is still deliberating on character choices but decided to throw the fans a metaphorical bone as "fan-service"

The latter 3 possibilities all can co-exist with the idea that DLC was planned before the ballot. I feel like a distinct possibility is that they were planning the costume and then, seeing all of the support, decided to use assets from a new model or design the already-planned costume concept.

And, finally, to everyone saying that K. Rool may not be as popular as we make him out to be, watch the Mii costume trailer. Seriously, every shot of the Mii costumes is basically K. Rool standing front and center. If this debacle gave us something over the competition, it's at least a confirmation of popularity.

That's what I'm saying, I don't get why it's so ridiculous.

I see clones like this:
Say Sakurai is a car salesman, and you want to buy a car preferably a better one than you already own or a replacement. Instead of rolling out a different car or one with better milage, he sends out a car that is exactly like the one you own, only in a different color, with worst mileage, and bald tires.

Now in terms of how clones look in the scope of the entire roster, well let's use cars again. Say the roster is a fine line up of expensive cars. You know Lamborghinis, Maseratis, ect, but when you get to the clones it's like looking at a few used junk cars from the 70s. They don't look good when compared to the majesty that was the rest of the line up. However is my opinion, if you see it as nonsensical, that's fine, it doesn't affect me either way.

Anyway in my mind K Rool is a Maserati and should get in over Dixie who is.... a beat up old Chevy I guess?

It certainly is odd, but their is no known reason as to why their is no Diddy trophy.
Maybe Sakurai saw Diddy as Rare's mascot, and the complications between Nintendo and Rare after the Stamper bros left led to him choosing to not making a trophy of him, but then why make ones of K. Rool and Dixie? It confused me too when I first found out their was no Diddy trophy.
