mario has a nasty chain grab, too, and his grab range isn't **** tier.
lolwat. Mario's grab range blows. In fact, his grab range is marginally worse than Ganon's. He is more mobile so it does help to make up for it. That and the fact that he has tons of other dumb stuff to make him a good character without the chaingrabs in the first place. That said, I don't want Ganon to be more like Mario because Mario is ****ing stupid in his current iteration.

Mario's playerbase is mostly ********. His fireballs do more damage than they should so people think he can be campy (which is wrong) but the character itself is just a solid fundamentalist with an interesting mentality that no one applies.

In the case of Mario's grab range, the mobility makes all the difference. WD forward grab is so easy, so far reaching, and so fast, that might as well be his standing grab range.

Buffing Ganon's grab range wouldn't be making him cheesier, it would make his grab make more sense since as of right now his arms shrink into two jointed velociraptor arms for the grab.

Ganon DOES need a grab improvement, come to think of it. He's still notably worse off compared to the cast, despite the numerous buffs he's gotten.

damn, ltc2 is inteeeeeeeeeeeeeense! didn't drown in pools, but i only won one set. i did get denti to ganon ditto me (and i've never been happier to be bodied holy ****! it was recorded, so hopefully it gets put up and everyone can point and laugh at my ganon getting super styled on!)

almost beat emlein, an ivy. made a horrible mistake g2 by going low with a fair off bf and airdodging offstage >< i had good momentum before that, too : / the games were close but he just outplayed me. then nza's ness which was very fiery and about as much fun as a good ness vs ganon is expected to be D : then i played a really solid local zss (who's tag i can never remember) and just totally beat me. much better at the matchup and he made much fewer mistakes. only win was against a newish (?) sonic.

but, holy ****! the matches are so damn intense all around! everyone's talking about how bracket is the most agonizing thing they've played ever! scuba, why didn't you come down here!?

So that means that Ganon steals zss' smash 4 up B ? Aka an upward wizkick ? I'm totally okay with that.

i was looking at tourney locator's youtube and i don't see it uploaded there. it'd be hidden somewhere in the stream, but i have no idea where it is : / i think it might've been near the start of pm singles in day 2?

FUAK JESUS

Since Bowser is getting downsized in 3.5 maybe they can take his excess turtle muscle and slap it on a new Giant Ganon. Like, that's the buff. We're just huge now.

Not going to lie, playing bowser on Warioware or Yoshi's Story is awesome.. you can literally take up a third of stage.

...you can also get hit from the entire stage D:

edit: I don't know yoshi stages

I am in IL for pretty much the week.

Really hoping to play Arty at some point. Hopefully he goes to Wavedash Wednesdays and will attend Show Me Your Moves 15 this saturday.

Went to my first tourney with any good people yesterday. Started out by 2-0'ing a pretty scrubby Mario, but then got bopped in succession by a Peach and a ROB. I realized that even though I was in the lower skill-levels of the bracket, I was leagues above most of the people who came and didn't enter bracket. That and a couple compliments on my tech skill made me feel pretty good, not to mention the fact that I four-stocked an old training buddy with my ultra-fraudulent DK :smash:

I mean, since the Peach that beat me eventually took first, and I landed a Warlock Punch on that Peach in bracket, that means I take 1st by proxy, right? :smirk:

The other day when I was messing around with some friends someone got their shield broken and I Warlock Punched them into a charged Bowser fsmash.

Never seen anyone fly off that quickly.

Went to show me your moves yesterday, actually used Dorf a bunch. During pools, I double four stocked a Roy player, and I beat up a spacie main on stream (altho I dropped the first game). I'll post the video when it comes up. I did make it to bracket (got 3rd seed, top 4 make it out, 8 players per pool). I lost my first set against Andale. He rekt my Dorf with Zelda, his Zelda was way tougher to fight than KDJ's. Won my first round of loser's against Merza in a Dorf ditto, so I finished 17th. I almost took a set off DarkAtma but I was using Falcon instead of Dorf. Actually now that I think about it, it's quite possible I would have won using Dorf. I think I just ran into a lot of character luck at this tourney, I hardly played against anyone using chars that were sucky MUs for Dorf.

The leak was obviously legit. Nintendo pretty much confirmed it by naming the Shulk trailer "I guess we have no choice!".

And yet Shulk has been confirmed, Ganon was sort of shown off, and there was a video of Bowser Jr. Even though sakurai is troll I think that the leak couldn't have been faked. Just the quality of art for the portraits, and the video snippet of Bowser Jr, seem convincing enough.

So the weekly yesterday was a bit of mixed bag. Started off against the Squirtle who eliminated last time I went, thought I was screwed but ended up winning 2-0. Was pretty happy with that, but then in my next set I got killed by Randall at 0%, and that was gg. Just couldn't play well after that happened, and got wrecked in that set and my next one in losers.

Freaking Randall, y u betray me ;_;

Once again went 1-2 at my local weekly last night. We had some pretty decent players there, the standard VCU crowd plus VGBC| Redd and Milkman, who is 10th on the MD/VA PR. Got paired up with my Marth training buddy first round, and after some super close games I beat him 2-1. Next round I got paired with the same Peach who I lost to last week, with about the same results. In loser's, I played a local Ganon/Mario, which I was a little apprehensive about since he'd beaten me in a friendly Ganon ditto last week. I must have improved though, since I 2-stocked his Ganon before he switched to Mario and took the next 2 games. Overall I was happier with my performance, even if I did get knocked out a little faster than I would have liked.

My friend, who only plays the game casually and hasn't even decided who to main yet, got matched with Redd in the first round of bracket. He then spent 5 minutes floating under Smashville as Peach. He did manage to take a stock off Redd's Pit with Shiek's f-air, although considering that my friend kept referring to the move as a "side spike" I think Redd might have let him land it out of pity more than anything else.

Trajectories such as Sheik's fair are actually referred to as semi-spikes, your friend wasn't far off.

But calling it a side spike is like how my casual friend says Falco's shine is an up spike. Just different breeds of not knowing what terms mean.

Weekly today went pretty good, got 13th out of 40. First set was against a Donkey Kong and it was really close, just barely clutched it out. Second set was against Holy and I got rekt, rip. Won against some Marth and then after that I lost to a Link. It was last stock each game but he was ahead every match, freakin boomerang man. Felt like I probably could've beaten him though, need to work on that MU.

Played a bunch on stream so I'll post those later. Stuff was pretty hype, Ally actually finally showed up for once, so the level of play was way higher than normal. I also managed to get him and Bidooof to have a Ganon ditto on stream, I'll post that later too :p

You can hold up/down to gain/lose some height with Warlock Punch when it comes out. Same thing with Falcon Punch, Wario's Shoulder Bash and Jigglypuff's Pound (and probably a few more)
The hell, I never knew that was a thing.
