I wouldn't "wait for her to approach" per se
Stay close to her but at a safe enough distance that you aren't going to have to quickly react and shield or avoid any of her moves - your comfortable distance is, in fact, uncomfortable for Zelda because she is atrociously awful. Don't be afraid to use several jumps, walk around a bit, just keep that cute distance.
If you're far away she'll just harass with Din's and - if you were playing against a top level Zelda - they would probably eventually take advantage of the fact that you have to move all over the place avoiding her while she can hold onto basic fundamentals and eventually punish you when they download and bait your evasive movements.
Stay close, try and bait her into slipping up by dipping in and out of her range without committing to anything and when she eventually does commit to something; out-right hit her or, if that isn't possible or optimal, try and create pressure to land the hit that you want to. The key is to keep that constant dominant presence over her and be cautious of her options - even being overly cautious and missing potential punishes is better than getting hit by a fair or bair, you shouldn't be in any rush to destroy her or feel like you're under any pressure as long as you keep that optimal range.
