When I think of a face of Fire Emblem, I see a mental picture of ALL the lords (except Micky and Alm, they're pretty bad). Marth, Sigurd, Celice, Leif, Roy, Eliwood, Hector, Lyndis, Erika, Ephraim, Ike and Chrom. I may have a certain bias since Ike was my favourite lord in the series (which most people would agree with), and many others liked the various different lords for their own reasons. Hell, some people want Sigurd to be introduced to Smash 4 as a possible introduction to Fire Emblem: Seisen no Keifu (Genealogy of the Holy War). Fire Emblem has no official face, merely a glimpse of who people enjoyed playing with the most. Obviously by my avatar, we can see I'm hoping for Vanguard Ike to join in, and courtesy of my brother O Dog, a colour scheme worth seeing.

Blue haired people are the core of Fire Emblem you can't deny that....
the majority of Main characters has Blue hair.
Hmm....

Let's count!

Blue haired lords:
Marth
Ike
Chrom
Lucina
Hector
Erika
Sigurd (?)

Green haired lords:
Lyn
Ephraim
Alm

Red haired lords:
Roy
Eliwood

Brown haired lords:
Leif

White haired lords:
Michiah
Robin (not a lord but I felt he was too important to leave out)

There ya go. All the lords and their hair!

Regardless, FE is a lot more than just the lords... Heck, often times, lords aren't that popular compared to other characters. FE is a huge series with a huge diversity of characters. Intentionally limiting it to blue haired lords is stupid.

Lords are the center of the army, the center of the game.

So do you think Ike's speed is actually going to match what it was in the games or is he still going to feel like a sack of bricks?

If you mean having enough speed to make him on par with his incarnation in Project M, then yes. However, expecting him to be all Sanic fast is going to be a huge balance breaker.

From my understanding at least, Ike's speed was highest in Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, and I mean like he was broken-tier fast. So I don't expect him to be Sonic fast, but maybe his running speed should be a little bit faster than Marth.

Again, his Project M incarnation is a good start. In that mod Ike's speed has been buffed in order to compliment the faster pacing of the metagame. His tilts are also faster too. But at the same time, his power over speed is still emphasized.

Should that be the case in Smash 4, and this going with the idea that Ike gets into the game, I hope that Sakurai takes the speed:power ratio into consideration. I mean the last thing we need is Ike running as fast as Sonic with moves as fast as Meta Knight's.

Well it makes sense why Ike has such an emphasis on the idea of power of speed. It's contrasting, it's unique, it's potent. I think people being upset over the lack of speed for Ike have clearly not been paying attention to the inconsistencies with varies other characters like Mewtwo and Samus.

For the record, I always thought Ephraim had hair more close to blue than green. His artwork might portay it green, but ingame it's DEFINITELY blue. Alm also has been portraited with both hair colors, hence his DLC artwork has hair in both colors.

So yeah, even IF you guys all want a 'perfect FE roster that's unique and bla di bla di bla dah' it'll be blue haired Lords.

Anna, Tiki... Cute ideas for throphies, or Assist Trophies, but playable characters? Won't ever happen.

Ike will most likely stay, and if we get a newcomer, he'll most likely have blue hair. Or it's an odd chance we're actually getting Roy.

As far as I know they aren't anywhere to be found in Path of Radiance, or Radiant Dawn. They where in Ike's unofficial "part" of Castle Seige though.

I never really thought Marth was that girly looking though.

I have always thought that Marth's hair in Melee looked like Lego hair.

I mean, just look at it:

Hair doesn't have such weird highlights. It's obviously a Lego wig.

Oh, we're in the Ike thread? Okay, no sympathy, friends and stuff I guess.

You have this picture posted and you're commenting on the STATUES?!
THAT'S IKE RIGHT THERE!! HOW IS HE NOT CONSIDERED CONFIRMED YET?
Are you joking? It's not Ike.

If you AREN'T joking then here-

First off, Ike doesn't have a page on the official site.

Second, take another look at Marth's new design and compare it to the character in the pic. (who is, again, Marth)

(I wanted to use his offical artwork, but Google was being stupid for some reason. Tried to make me download the image, and when I just copy & pasted it it didn't show up)

Also the move being used by the character you believe to be Ike is Dancing Blade, one of Marth's specials.

True, I did over-react a tad. Between the new boots and the red blade trail, I was really thrown off.
So do you suppose that's the final swing of Dancing Blade's up variant? If so, they really changed the arc of the swing.

It does look like it'd be the final swing of Dancing Blade (though I think it's the normal varient based on it's color and arc), though at the same time the arc also appears to have changed.

I'd like to see Ephraim, myself. Sacred Stones was one of my favorite FEs, and a lance-wielder would be pretty boss.
That said, I'm only expecting Marth and Chrom to be playable, possibly with Lucina and Ike skins.

I see. For some reason I thought the red color was associated with the up variant. However, I'd suggest you take a looksie at the image here: http://static2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20131107124220/ssb/images/e/ec/Marth_SSB4_(8).jpg
This looks a LOT like the classic version of his final forward DB swing.

It might be the first or last swing of his Dancing Blade. I've heard from one or two people that it might be a part of his Melee Shield Breaker.

It's his Side B can we get this over, and actually discuss Ike, not Marth?

Ike to me is still my favorite character in the series. He's a very likable character, and not a Gary Stue as most say he is. Yes he's all Mr.Moral sometimes, but he's also rather rash, and even downright aggressive at times. He even comes over as a cold ruthless killer sometimes. Think he's the most awesome main character in the series so far.

Ike being "Mr. Moral" is actually more meaningful coming from him than any other lord in the series. It is easy for all the other lords to take up arms, lead their armies and fight for justice; they were born and raised with power. Ike was just some kid who watched his father get killed, suddenly inherit his family's small business, and then got caught up in major political affairs just because he was trying to be a decent person.

Assuming Ike returns, we are excepting his older, Radiant Dawn look correct?

Honestly, I think his more robust appearance suits his slower, more power packed play style than his svelte look he had in Brawl.

Ike is a bit of "Mr. Moral Hero," but he puts a real spin on it.

Because he's not quite sure what he's doing.

He's just a kid being thrust into the role of a leader and has to figure it out as he goes along. He makes mistakes but you know he really has the best intentions. That makes us root for him and really makes it enjoyable when he finally gets it together.

Ike's character development is quite awesome indeed. This is also why I always recommend players playing both FE9 and FE10. You really get to see Ike grow from a mere, untrained boy to the continent's strongest and greatest hero. Think that alone gives Ike so muuch character.

And yea would think they will pick his Radiant Dawn design this time. Hero or Vanguard, doesn't really matter for me honestly.
