"Ideal" point in time for your most wanted?

In your opinion, what's the "ideal" point in time for your most wanted to be introduced? More accurately, which Smash game feels the most appropriate time in which to introduce them? This has to be a Smash game that already released, from 64 to Ultimate, but you can move characters already in Smash (after Melee, anyway) to an earlier game. For me:

Mega Man X is a character who would've only worked before Mega Man, and in Melee or Brawl at that since his series died in the early 2000's. Zero could've worked in Ultimate due to fan demand and fighting game history, however he got AT'd so yeah.

I feel like Crash is tough as he could have worked we at several points.

Brawl released around the Titans era when it was still an annual franchise so i guess it depends where they took there inspiration from.

Smash 4 was probably not a good time, although there was teasing and a skylanders appearance around the DLC.

Ultimate base game would have been close to N Sane Trilogy Switch release. With Fighter Pass 1 being close to CTR and Fighter Pass 2 being close to Its About Time

Overall Ultimate probably would have been best but exactly when is debatable.

melee | ugh. a better mewtwo. some moves and the way he moves are just ugh. they butchered his walk in "brawl".

Smash 4/Wii U/3DS was the best time for Rayman. It was the perfect opportunity for Ubisoft representation. But remembering the roster is finalized extremely early on, Rayman had no reason to miss Ultimate.

For Leon, I’d have to say Brawl, since that was the first Smash game to release after RE4 left its mark.

Plus, his model fits so well with Brawl’s art style, you could probably get away with porting it directly from RE4

for me it would be little mac from SUPER punch out(the blonde one) as an echo fighter in smash ultimate

he would be a little mac without KO punch but the ability to use his B moves twice and can perform rapid punches(B)
