You don't need to be as good with Zelda to put her to use as a Sheik main. You could just practice Zelda vs. ICs so you can transform if someone CPs ICs.

And gl to you Susa, Im glad you've taken it upon yourself to try to be good with and raise a character who is fairly underrated imo. Sheik has the potential, she just needed someone like you to step up and make her stand out like a couple others have. Best of Luck

Zelda is pretty bad. I think she's the third worst in the game. Still, her killing power has it's merits.
I agree with what you said about most people sucking at reading. The gold in Sheik is that all her throws + her best poke SET YOUR OPPONENT UP TO AIRDODGE. By reading these airdodges, using Sheik's amazing speed, and making proper use of pivot grabs, ftilts, etc, you can juggle your opponent's for quite some time. Sheik also has combos, and Utilt is amazing.
A lot of pros think Sheik is underrated. Neo is probably best Sheik atm (or Ryoko) and placed 5th going all Sheik in a tourney. He beat Meeps IC with Sheik IIRC, so I suggest that if you're looking for someone to talk to for Sheik advice, you start with him. I also picked Sheik back up recently. SUPER FUN.
Sheik is one of my favorite characters because she will take you as far as your skill goes. She's not really limited, she just doesn't have anything broken about her (save ftilt lock which isn't game breaking). So you have to be skilled to win, and the more skill you gain with Sheik, the more you win. (Obviously that's true for all characters but I think you get what I mean.)

Yep Pierce... lol Sheik is just... so great at punishing if you read your opponent. No predicting involved, just wait half a second before you actually do anything... then just read.

@SuSa: learn chain, it singlehandedly brings matchup vs. GW from 70-30 to about 60-40 to even 55-45 depending on who you ask. GW has NOTHING that goes through properly spaced chain unless he does a cross up or a dair but you should be able to retract in time if he jumps towards you. He can try and bait the chain retract or w/e but at most he gets an aerial. At least, that's what's happened in my exp.
You'll need Snake for Kirby (maybe), ICs, Pika, Peach (maybe)...maybe Marth, too, but NeO, me and a couple of other ppl knowledgeable about Sheik think it's around 55:45.
Also DACUS is super easy without setting R, just set your thumb to cstick and do a quick motion of dash -> down c-stick -> rotate 90 degrees -> up a.

I had to claw DACUS. Plus I use R as Attack to Pivot Walk with. (It makes a great taunt. =p )

The Sheik boards are so ******** that Tristan was stupid enough to compile some of the most comprehensive data on any of the character boards.
Zelda is nowhere near to being third worst in the game. Imo she's fine right where she is. Great OoS options, guaranteed KO setups out of her dilt, priority, range blah blah blah. She just has trouble against camping and most of the higher cast in brawl.

I've play good G&W's with my Sheik. It's more work then it's worth given my Snake has no problem with G&W's. (Haven't lost to one yet)

SuSa - hasn't posted enough yet but I'd imagine knows a lot of frame data + analyzes matchups well
You - Has the most recent tourney experience w/ Sheik + is working hard at winning with Sheik, also knows a lot about Zelda + matchups on both sides
Neo - ***** with Sheik, aggressive Sheik master that doesn't post
Armada - ***** with Sheik, aggressive Sheik master that doesn't post
Ryoko/Ankoku - General Fighting Game Theory, applied to Sheik...frame data application
Light/Chok/Cross/Champ - General Theory of Matchups + Positioning (Campy Sheik - except for maybe Cross + Champ?)
Tristan/East/Saviors - Frame Data manipulation based on %; I think that's what East's Know-it-All is about anyways
Stealth and I - Large general frame of knowledge
AKA Everybody who actually posts in the forums is nowadays relatively knowledgeable about Sheik and how she works as a character + matchups. I don't have a Wii + I don't have enough tournament attendance for me to play a third character in tournament XD; Not to mention Midwest is a "joke" region according to everybody and their dog so it's not even worth trying to get anywhere with Sheik while I'm in MW -_- Unless M2K brings our region up, I'm not playing Sheik as a tourney main any time soon. I'm not going to post a lot of stuff about Sheik in the forums either simply because we don't often have useful threads, matchup thread is kind of dead and there's no real leader figures since everyone thinks Sheik is a POS except for the people who actually have an inkling of knowledge about how Sheik functions. You could say, "why don't you be the leader?" and my answer is that I care about my senior year in HS + I don't have a Wii to practice over Wifi so I need to play better characters for a chance to get better in tournament for now, even though I've said this about 4 times in the paragraph XD;
TL,DR; I'm not the MOST knowledgeable about Sheik but I know what I'm talking about.

I don't think it's so much as the forums are ******** as it is that we've already figured out the majority of Sheik at this point and there really isn't all that much to discuss. That and the fact that half of us really don't care all that much.

And, then you were like, "And secondary Snake," and I went, "Wait, what?"
Took me a minute... And, then, I was all, "Oh. Aww."
But, just remember what KDJ told me at a tournament when we were talking about Brawl, for laughs.
Me: "I dunno, Sheik is still pretty cool."
Dan: "If you're gonna play Sheik in Brawl, you better remember your best move: Down B. Zelda is strictly better."
Me: "Awww. That sucks."
Dan: "Yeah, it does. That's why I don't play her. They ruined her aerials, which is so much of her game. The low knock back, and the nearly zero hitstun of the game just kinda wrecks her."
Me: "Well, this is why we play Melee."
Dan: "Word."
