It's also pretty hilarious how Brawl-bashing has become more of a trendy thing to do than anything else.

"Oh look, these famous players are bashing it, I'm going to bash it too!" I'm not saying everyone is like that, but I'm not saying only a few people are...>_>
Because we all know that nobody truly dislikes the game, they must just be jumping on the bandwagon.

Things that would make Brawl awesome:

1: Much more hit stun

2: More defined weight classes

3: Not being able to attack after an airdodge (not AS much as a problem)

4: Less Extreme DI'ing

5: Not hyping a game up and delaying it twice for what I got out of it

....It's still fun, but it isn't Smash to me. Sakurai just took it way too far in being noob friendly IMO. I REEEALLY hope this game develops A LOT more, because it's sad when I have more fun playing Melee computers than humans in Brawl. I can't believe I'm saying it, but it just isn't the same anymore. =(
Melee has less hitstun iirc.

I don't know if this has been said but Street Fighter 2 turbo still sees tournament play, why not melee? all of the brawl supporters seem to want to convert everyone but a TON of people play SF2T why drop melee? for god sakes NO. I WILL NOT STAND IDLY BY while the best fighting game in the history of man's ******* child tries to overthrow him.

Melee you get up there and smack that punk *** fool down hard so we can all get back to a real game.

In all seriousness Melee is better for tournaments and better period IMO, also Brawl is really slow nub face camp fest. We can run both tournaments but Brawl should be the side event, not melee, period.

Nobody that's not a ****** is trying to 'convert' people. I couldn't care less what you play. Tournaments for each game will be as prevalent as the demand for each game. What more needs to be said? It shouldn't bother you that Brawl tournaments exist.

I'm trying to enjoy Brawl, no joke! I watch vid after vid, but it's not getting me amped or excited. Then I watch one Melee vid and I'm like "Holy s#!+, what a f***ing turn on!" I wish I could feel the same way for Brawl . . . then again Brawl is still learning how to crawl. However, I will go to Brawl tournies to see alot of people again and to check the different atmosphere from Melee. I also <3 Binx!

Actually, Super Turbo is pretty much a side game because no one plays it anymore and it doesn't take any time at all to run. All the best players don't really play it that much except to practice up right before a big tourney (aka EVO) but the scene for it actually isn't all that big. But the HD remix may breathe some new life into this.

Note that Super Turbo is also the last in a series. Sort of like how MvC2 came out after 3rd Strike, and how CvS2 came out after both of them. You can't replace a different game. But you don't see much 2nd Impact, CvS, or MvC now do you?

Interesting note, MvC2 when it first came out was one of the campiest games ever. And it replaced MvC, which in the end was one of the biggest rushdown games ever. Not saying Brawl will end up as crazy as MvC2, but it does ring a bell.

So really, a lot of history here. But comparing Super Turbo to Melee just doesn't add up in any context.

In terms of gameplay, I've always found comparisons between Melee/Brawl and 2d fighters like MvC or GGXX pretty silly. But comparisons in the community that supports each game are solid because what happens to the ST community can be really similar to what happens to the smash community in terms of how they accept new editions in the series and how the community evolves

Unfortunately, the new thing is what wins in the end. Noobs who take up Brawl competititively won't be interested in training themselves in Melee, and they'll supplant the Melee generation. It doesn't matter how the new thing stacks up to the old one -- or doesn't.

The best chance Melee stands is if people like us keep playing. Go to tourneys (and even just casual parties, etc.) and play it in front of the noob Brawl players, and let them see first-hand how awesome it is. Granted, Brawl is young and may yet have an endocrine system. But if not, the sheer awesomeness of Melee may be enough to override the noobs' laziness and get them into a real game. We can hope, anyway.

The most mature thing I've seen you say on this thread lol. For once, you made a post without saying, "F*CK YEAH!" or "F*CK BRAWL!" lol.

Thank You! Thank You! You took the words right out of my mouth. And everything you said is pretty much true.

Also, I want to point something out to people who think Brawl is nub friendly. That is not necessarily true. The game is new so it may seem that there isn't much of a skill gap between good players and nubs when in reality that is not true. If the game is nub friendly, and anyone can be "good" at it, then why have there always been consistent placers in tourneys? And as the game develops, the skill gap between good players and beginners will widen. That has been the case for every fighting game. Brawl is no exception.

Allow me to borrow Atlus' idiom. "Brawl is still learning how to crawl." This is as true as it gets. As far as competitive play goes, I think Brawl has a bright future ahead of it.

lol yeah.

.... Doesnt look like we're ever gonna attempt to finish that video. Kinda sad.
Seriously though, I wish we could finish it because those guys are unbelievable.

On a topic-related note, Combo Status doesnt play Brawl. That would kinda contradict our crew name, wouldnt it?
lol =P

except me and Eggz. We both play Brawl and dont have fun.

You Probably Can Tell After IP Tracking Me.
A few things should be realized.
---
1. Brawl, Melee, both different games.

2. No relevance because of their play style, graphics, etc.

3. If tournaments would include both, there should be no problem [satisfying Both Melee and Brawl players]
---
~Nobody should be bashing each other or the game i think. Just ignore the one you hate and play the one you appreciate. 2 different worlds, Brawl, Melee, play one, forget the other.

See how Smash Bros 1 is left out of every tournament? True, right? When Melee was out, SSB was never in any tourneys, just rare or for free play.

Sooner or later, Melee will just become the center of attention once again. Or..it can be both Brawl and Melee. Doesn't matter, tournaments that are smart will support both, or just support one. Don't like one of the games? Don't go to it, right?

me and blitz agree on this all the way: we all need to get along! stop classifying yourself as a "melee smasher" or "brawl smasher"... we are all "smashers." this whole melee->brawl thing is making people a lot of people bitter. so just please, everyone, even if you would rather play one game or the other, just be mature and get along.

My sediments go along with what Kish wrote in his Sadly There Won't Be An FC This Year Thread ... especially the final part of his paragraph.

The Melee vs. Brawl deal that happened in my thread and elsewhere is getting tiresome. Ultimately I had the event planned that I wanted to run. Other communities have shown that they can exist side-by-side. There is no reason why this one has to be different, yet there are still so many people who feel the need to convince everyone else that they are "right" about the game they play. Just let everyone play the game they like, and leave it at that. If someone is hosting a Brawl tournament, don't go into his thread, mock the host and demand Melee. I see this quite a bit, and it is terribly immature. No johns - if you complain about someone else's tournament, then you'd better man up and host your own tournament.
I've been through this with another community, so yea.

1. Different games, same series, thus they should be compared and contrasted because they have things in common, rather than comparing Smash to, say, board games, which many people make analogies with.

3. If everyone in the world would sign a pact agreeing that days are now 30 hours long instead of 24.

I honestly don't see what you were trying to do with your last two paragraphs. When Melee came out, SSB was never in any tournaments. This is because the new game came out. Your second paragraph just throws that example out the window and says Melee will become the center of attention once agian. As much as I want this to be so, I don't think it's going to happen. MANY people I know are ignorantly following Brawl just because it's new. A lot of people are like "Melee is better" but they play Brawl anyway because they want to play with the people that are so ignorantly following Brawl.
