So I really don't know what's up.

yea dude, i was 17, a junior in high school scratching a rock against a piece of glass to test its hardness.

i mean all of our other subjects are decent but last time I checked, we rank 29th place in science internationally. our worst.

When I said "scientific method," I meant it less in the sense of lab procedures, and more in the sense of how ideas are tested and put through the scientific process, subjected to peer review, etc. When students do an experiment today they have no idea what it means for it to be "scientific" or the principles inherent in the process.

The fact that so many people believe evolution is "just a theory," without understanding with "theory" means in a scientific context, is in my opinion one of the biggest travesties of American education, and is symptomatic of precisely the thing I'm talking about.

we went off topic into science in general.

we are so far from scientific method its ridiculous. inquiry and reasoning are hardly ever mentioned.

no emil, that schooling is very standard, he didn't have ****ty schooling. don't need to resort to irrelevant attacks to try to prove a point.

and his main point is that if you hold children up to a higher standard, they will elevate themselves to it, so the problems you're talking about ("i'm not really disappointed that we aren't giving the average 7th grader a beaker of acid") are irrelevant because it's a byproduct of a ****ty system, not a valid point in and of itself

I was actually scared admitting I was from private school would make me seem less cool
it does make you cool.

also it disqualifies what you said about american schooling since you never went to a public school. also even private elementary and junior high schools in nyc dont have labs and all. you also just said we all had ****ty schooling. so yea.

So your parents sent you to a private school, making fun of you for that would be dumb.

i might be trolling or i might not
i'm really not
, but you got ***** nonetheless. don't be salty cuz i'm calling you out on it; you really should stay away from grown folk topics

look at some of the stuff you said:

You had some ****ty schooling. I learned all of that in elementary school.

Good for pakistan??
it's like, why are you posting if you aren't going to raise your level of discourse to the discussion at hand

then once your dumb "no that's not how I was schooled, so it's obviously not standard" point was disproved, you come back with this zinger:

oh wait
I forgot I went to private school
you all had ****ty schooling
i like you and all, but when it comes to debates you are ****ing horrible and that's just how it is. you really act like mio when you get called out on it, going through the whole "everyone else must be wrong / i was just kidding" type of thing

When talking about the school system I assumed that my elementary school experience was included.

then I said "oh wait, I forgot I went to private school"
I thought it was obvious, but I basically said that I just realized my experience probably isnt the norm. Not changing the topic at all, just stating that It was wrong to compare my schooling with the norm.

you all had ****ty schooling was a half joke, since your talking about the education system being ****ty, and you all had public education, therefore you all had ****ty schooling. Get it?

Theres not even anything to argue here.

again, not that serious....

edit- I like you too

i realize it's "not that serious," you don't have to keep stating it every time. why does me calling someone out on some (perceived) bull**** always have to be serious? that's just the way i am, i'm not thinking about it away from the keyboard or writing in my diary, "hmmm, the profile on emil must be changed today because of such and such"

just because you don't like confrontations doesn't mean every confrontation is a serious one. don't project onto me

anyway you're missing my point, which i will re-quote for clarification:

it's like, why are you posting if you aren't going to raise your level of discourse to the discussion at hand

The school system certainly could be better, but public schools need to teach EVERYONE. That includes the stupidest people who are not capable of any mathematical thought and don't value school at all, but that's how it is. Fortunately, there aren't very many people like that in the smash community.

DanteFox that was also one of the best posts you've ever made

I think I've met you before. Do you look sorta like Psychomidget except skinnier, taller and with longer hair?
Yup that's me! You can probably find pictures of me somewhere on AiB too. I'm almost certain someone's pointed you out before too but I don't remember anything.

Derek if you don't think she's that great you need to see her in some movies. No comparison

Thanks Brian =D
