Well, there's no true way to care. You can always go the "hey, it's OK. You can talk to me" thing where they talk to you and you simply spit out what you want them to hear. A wall to cry at.

I'm reserved as hell. I'm a writer that spends half his time thinking about philosophical issues and the super secret reason behind the cliffhanger in my upcoming novel.

I can relate on that front. If you're a writer, then it makes sense that you'd be more introspective. It's just that for a lot of people, they're used to expressing their thoughts out in the open rather than saving them for a book.

It's up to you how much you want to change it. I know for me that it's awkward to work with coworkers everyday and not have some kind of a rapport with them. Maybe you can learn how to make small talk. Sometimes it's not what's said that matters; it's more of the connection you're establishing with a person.

One of my coworkers randomly laid down some serious personal issues to me one day. I just listened. Sometimes, people will reveal parts of themselves to you. You have to leave the door open for them though. And now I know more about a subject that I wasn't even aware that I was ignorant about before, and I know more about this person's character. Things like that have value in the real world, but they also have value to a writer because they influence your understanding of human nature and reality, and that is probably going to show up in your work at some point. Just a thought.

Haha I definitely have these problems too. Well, not to the extent that I can't even socialize with people but I always catch myself running out of things to say to all these people whom are my friend's friends because I know nothing of them and we are there together because of my friend. My friend knows them. I don't.

That gets better with more experience. If they happen to be very talkative people, you can probably just nudge them along with the right questions and they'll do most of the talking for you. When you don't know a person, it's usually a good time to find out more about them. Just don't come across as being too creepy or anything.

I, for example, am the most lethargic, laid-back, lazy ******* in the world. I love that about myself. lol I don't know why, but... The world's out there for you, not the other way around.



Also, as far as this girl is concerned, remember a few things. There is no such thing as true love, one girl out there for just you. But there is a girl out there you will eventually fall in love with (unless, of course, you get hit by a bus, but this isn't about fate, determinism and free will, so...). Just know that if you want to find her, put yourself out there. Visualize happiness, and go get it.

But actually all I meant was doing more than acknowledging flaws but embracing them. If you're comfortable with everything about yourself, you actually gain the testicular fortitude to pull off whatever's necessary in social situtations.
