On this thread, it's hard to tell who's being ironic or not.FirestormNeos is being sarcastic, hence the trollface.
Roy is really bad in Melee and not so good in 4 either. He's more of a scrub stomper if anything. The only Fire Emblem game I "played" (and by played I mean watched a friend play through it because I suck at strategy games) was the GameCube one with Ike so I have no bias in favor or against it. However, I think the reason the Smash community has been "salty" with FE is how the franchise in general has dominated Smash ever since Melee with Marth and Roy. I remember back in 2001 when they were revealed they were seen as the characters that stole the spot from far more recognizable characters because we literally didn't know who they were, despite the fact that Fire Emblem was a massive hit for Nintendo in Japan. It also doesn't help that both ended up becoming somewhat top tier and thus being associated with the Melee is best Smash purists.
Aside from that, my other reasoning is because of how many feel it is over-represented in Smash. It's true that Mario and Pokemon dominate the roster, Fire Emblem has more characters than other franchises like DK, Metroid and Star Fox, and I know that character diversity is a thing in Smash, but when franchises that are just as popular get the shaft for even more FE it can feel like a kick in the teeth. I would also blame the fact that ever since Awakening Fire Emblem has been on this pedestal where everyone praises it, right down to its "waifu" potential.
But I feel a lot of it is really just salt from the Smash community for the reason that it takes top priority over other Nintendo franchises.
Yeah, I think you can drop the facade of not being an alt of those other guys...Although I normally don't express my opinions in my own threads, I'm going to make this one an exception.
I have nothing against FE, i've said that. I'm excited to see if Three Houses is good or not. But I think that the blatant overrepresentation of Fire Emblem in Smash is inexcusable. I can't see a good argument as to why Chrom is in this game. Sakurai himself said there were too mane FE fighters after Corrin was added. FE advocates argue that he fulfills the trio of main characters in Awakening, bu under that same logic, Bandana Dee, Slippy, Peppy, Dixie Kong, Cranky Kong, etc. should all be in, and I think we can all agree that Kirby, Star Fox and DK are way more deserving for just one newcomer than Fire Emblem is, especially Kirby.
Fire Emblem has been pampered to get everything the fans want in the game. What's even more annoying is that yes, Fire Emblem is responsible for some fighters not being in. King Dedede himself was scrapped from 64 and was supposed to be in Melee (in fact he's the only fighter scrapped form 64 who's not in Melee), but lost his spot so Roy could be added to advertise for his game and soy Marth wouldn't be an off one out. A ****ing advertisement.
In Smash 4 Fire Emblem got another four fighters, not only the most newcomers for a single series in one game (3), but also the mot blatant clones (also 3). Lucina was the exact same fighter as Marth. Was she really necessary? No. But then they went the extra mile and brought Thing 1 back from Melee. Now we had 3 Marths. B-b-but what ab-b-out FATES? We can't let that go ignored! If fates doesn't get squeezed dry by Smash, it'll sell bad! So they added the most boring character from the game into Smash, to boost sales, of course!
*Sakurai then clarifies that he thinks there are too many FE fighters in Smash. The man himself thinks it's overrepresented*
Aww, did you not get everything you wanted? Are you not satisfied? Boo hoo....everyone, come to the pity party for Fire Emblem fans!
Oh no! The Fire Emblem fans want another fighter! Who wasn't in Smash 4! We need another Marth clone, ASAP! Ignore the rest of the series in Smash! We need to make sure the ****ing FIRE EMBLEM FANS get everything they want, otherwise Intelligent and Nintendo will get mad!
So they add Chrom, under the logic that he fills a missing spot in the selection of FE fighters, ignoring literally every other fighter who also follows that same logic.
The only things that are worse than all of this are:
A: Some Fire Emblem fans are still not satisfied with the amount of fighters they have yet.
B: Fire Emblem elitists are total jerks and will attack anyone who disagrees with them, and straight up lie so the can make it look like FE deserves more than it already has.
Don't take this the wrong way: i don't have anything against Fire Emblem or it's fans. I respect the opinions of everyone, but at the end of the day it's incontestable that Fire Emblem has been given extra privileges in Smash that it clearly doesn't deserve, and several other series in Smash have been given the short end of the stick so Fire Emblem can get all of this.
The actual Fire Emblem fans don't even have the characters they want. If you honestly feel that all they've ever wanted are like the same sword characters in a franchise with a plethora of character classes I don't know what to tell you.Although I normally don't express my opinions in my own threads, I'm going to make this one an exception.

can we please not? If you suspect an alt, report it to a moderator and move on.Yeah, I think you can drop the facade of not being an alt of those other guys...

Critique of that, can you really call Mario oversaturated when compared to its size and legacy? Bar none, it should be the biggest with Pokemon hot on its heels. The actual Fire Emblem fans don't even have the characters they want. If you honestly feel that all they've ever wanted are like the same sword characters in a franchise with a plethora of character classes I don't know what to tell you.
Objectively, the only people that want Roy for example are Smash fans first. It is my understanding that the Fire Emblem players would prefer someone like Hector or Lyn instead of Roy. Additionally, I'm sure you can even argue Corrin's fans are primarily found in the Smash community as well.
This entire post comes off entirely childish and you're claiming people that want a character are crying over it, when the one whining with the baby photo to boot is you. There might be an over saturation of fighters from the FE series, but the Super Mario and Pokemon franchises have severe over saturation in the games too. IMO, if a character is interesting and offers something new to the table I don't see the issue. And, IMO, a lot of the good Fire Emblem fighter suggestions do offer something interesting.
There's no irony to be had. I got here 30ish minutes ago, and the mod was talking to someone else.> You said this after a mod posted when you could've just moved on.
Irony.
I'd be down for it.Anywho Celica for Smash.
For the same reason they don't wear helmets at all times in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.why won't anyone ever wear a helmet in FE
I agree that Mario and Pokemon are oversaturated too, but the problem is that at least they have interesting and creative movesets. I'd be a lot happier if we got a FE character like Hector or Lyn who had a new moveset, but right now 4/7 of the FE fighters are Marths. Not to mention they're all sword wielders, it's time to see something else come out from FE weapon representation. The actual Fire Emblem fans don't even have the characters they want. "Might be."There might be an over saturation of fighters from the FE series
So you'll complain FE doesn't deserve what it has, but you'll also complain Mario has too much despite being the most worthy?I agree that Mario and Pokemon are oversaturated too, but the problem is that at least they have interesting and creative movesets. And yes as I said in the post I understand not all of the most liked FE fighters are in but that's exactly my point. There are seven FE fighters. Even if they're not your favorite, how can someone not be happy with that? Asking for more is plain disrespectful toward the people who have been waiting for so long to see their most wanteds in.
"Might be."
I never said that. Sure, Mario may be the most "worthy" of getting a newcomer, but that doesn't mean it has to. I was hoping Waluigi and/or Geno would make it in, but I should have put my hopes elsewhere. After that, they seem to have hit the bottom of the barrel with Mario characters. And for the record, I consider Yoshi, DK, and Wario to be Mario characters since the all had their beginnings with him and still appear in lots of Mario games. The spectrum of Mario characters is so spread out that with every new Mario universe character I don't feel like the series is being represented in any greater way. There's so many already that adding another one makes little difference, I'm no longer excited when we see one.So you'll complain FE doesn't deserve what it has, but you'll also complain Mario has too much despite being the most worthy?
DK is certainly not Mario for one. They crossover sure, but they have distinct series outside of spinoffs.I never said that. This post. This post is just... I don't know what to say. None of your points are on point, and you're the one whining about FE when you're saying the FE fans are the ones whining.Although I normally don't express my opinions in my own threads, I'm going to make this one an exception.

Sakurai said himself it was because there was lots of fan demand from Japan in an interview after the direct.I can't see a good argument as to why Chrom is in this game.
No he didn't. Roy was made as a clone of Marth, like Pichu and Young Link, to pad out the roster for Melee. They took much less development time because they were clones. Dedede would need to be a full character, so even if they cut Roy, they wouldn't have time to complete Dedede. I don't see the problem with adding more characters. If it's representation you care about, you need to stop acting like the number of characters is a sign of a series' clout and using it as a ****-measuring contest. If it's "x getting in prevented y getting in!", no, the concept of echo fighters didn't exist then and Lucina was originally going to be an alternate costume, but the devs felt weird about having a costume having different properties than their original, so she was given her own spot. And Nintendo isn't some friend making a present for you, they're a multinational corporation and they have product they need to sell, and Corrin's inclusion was just a marketing strategy. If you don't like that your friendly neighborhood Nintendo is trying to sell products like a corporation would, go home. It also wasn't the first time they used a character to advertise a game (Greninja), and it wasn't the last (Isabelle). In Smash 4 Fire Emblem got another four fighters, not only the most newcomers for a single series in one game (3), but also the mot blatant clones (also 3). Honestly, I could throw that one back at you. "Aww, did you not get everything you wanted? Boo hoo....everyone, come to the pity party for Mogisthelioma !" (insert crying baby pic). Stop mocking people.Aww, did you not get everything you wanted? Are you not satisfied? Boo hoo....everyone, come to the pity party for Fire Emblem fans!
Let me repeat that Chrom was added in because he was very popular in Japan, not because Sakurai felt there was a missing spot.they add Chrom, under the logic that he fills a missing spot in the selection of FE fighters, ignoring literally every other fighter who also follows that same logic.
We're not satisfied with the characters chosen, not the amount of characters. And opinions are different between people, of course there will be people unsatisfied. Some Fire Emblem fans are still not satisfied with the amount of fighters they have yet.
You're projecting those few elitists onto the greater FE fanbase, and it's incredibly rude.Fire Emblem elitists are total jerks and will attack anyone who disagrees with them, and straight up lie so the can make it look like FE deserves more than it already has.
.Fire Emblem has been given extra privileges in Smash that it clearly doesn't deserve
Waluigi is definitely not bottom of the barrel — he's not even in the middle of the barrel. BOTB status is reserved for Goomba and Koopa.DK is certainly not Mario for one. They crossover sure, but they have distinct series outside of spinoffs.
And remember, you are not the end all. Mario deserves the most and others may be happy to see them.
Plus, Waluigi isn't bottom of the barrel?
Well, there are 13 Mario related fighters and Pokemon has 9. FE has 7, sure, but it's also quickly became a household name making sales numbers unheard of for the franchise as of Awakening and Heroes. The franchise has a marketable fan base and enough reasonable characters to add for it to make sense. If they can add a new idea that people would like to play as, I do not see why they shouldn't do it. I may not have any personal attachment to the ROBOT series, yet in Brawl I decided to play as R.O.B. because I find his gameplay fun. A character shouldn't be added/removed in fear of over/under representing or adding something people don't care about. What matters first is if it's fun, and if it is players will grow to the character naturally.Critique of that, can you really call Mario oversaturated when compared to its size and legacy? Bar none, it should be the biggest with Pokemon hot on its heels.
So, to reiterate, people are requesting characters that are not Sword fighters. The only one I've seen substantial support for right now does use a blade is Celica, but she's still a magic user with a unique twist. These other fighters can be unique, so I don't see what your problem with this is in this regard.I agree that Mario and Pokemon are oversaturated too, but the problem is that at least they have interesting and creative movesets. I'd be a lot happier if we got a FE character like Hector or Lyn who had a new moveset, but right now 4/7 of the FE fighters are Marths. Not to mention they're all sword wielders, it's time to see something else come out from FE weapon representation.
You tell me how someone could not be happy with four variations of the same character representing your favorite game series. This argument is just coming off incredibly biased.
I am happy with the the fact we have 3...out of 4 of the main Kirby reps.Shouldn't you be happy with having the main three Kirby characters? Or even it's Assist Trophies, Stages, Items, and the way Copy Abilities are handled in the series? What justifies you in saying that they should be content in the content received and you shouldn't be with your favorite stuff?
