Looking at the HOBO17 argument with games, I was thinking about how much fun it would be to have a 3D OoT fighter! That would be so much fun! The movement would be the same, but you can easily take out different weapons (I dunno how though). I think I would love Nintendo even more than I do now if they did that.

Actually Smoom if I recall it correctly there is a mod for Twilight Princess or OoT that plays like Goldeneye. I think I read about it somewhere on Kotaku?

Does anyone have a clue what I'm talking about? I know I'm not making this up.

I personally think Snake would fit Xyro's playstyle... He's used to having to camp and not approach, and Snake seems kind of alike I guess.
i agree

wario would be good too.

edit:

snake has a couple of projectiles just like samus, plus he's even heavier than samus. really the only thing he's missing is a zair.

There's a Halo1 mod that has the full map of Hyrule Field (OoT) and OoT graphics. I dunno if that's what you're talking about.

well wario is out. I hate his 2 styles(dmg and offensive) and he has no projectiles
ill consider diddy/falco/snake/marth(due to my melee exp)

I've already given you my suggestions, but whatever you choose, do try to spend time with the character. Don't try whoever you choose for like a few matches and drop them immediately. But choosing a higher tier character means you'll instantly do better in almost every single area, especially kill moves.

Xyro, you know you just listed practically all of the top 5. =/ You went to 7 for Marth, why not go down to 11 for ICs? ICs have projectiles which you can spam a lot like the rest of the top tier characters. =)

Otherwise, spam nana's with Diddy.

In Gea we trust. Go Snake. Seriously.
kingdom, look, im glad you are apart of the houston scene now but please keep the spam levels low. Posting one liners like that in this thread and the hobo results thread is getting old. I aint tryin to be mean but the next time you post, try and make it a little more WORTH reading, you know? I aint asking for like "gone with the wind" type posts but at least make them have some value.

Recently this place is getting better about that. Im actually kinda suprised

I can't really picture Xyro ever using Ice Climbers, they seem like the last character he would try. Unless he loves going through tons of frustration or something, because of how often Nana does dumb stuff.

I didn't see it either, but I might as well tried. Maybe he would be a genius with ICs, I dunno.

Hmmm...xyro personally i think snake would suit u. He has lots of advantages that samus never had that of course u will like. U might try marth too since i know u played him melee. He plays the exact same lol, just with out the BROKN.

Let's be real. His list.

Diddy - We live in the heart of Diddy country obviously. Not only does he have to catch up (learning Diddy isn't all that easy), but he will encounter increasing knowledge about the matchup. Pass unless you really want it.

Falco - Actually not a bad choice. Camping like he is used to with Samus but a strong up close mixup game, once again a trait he likes. Gets gimped if predictable. Biggest issue is going to be facing Hylian or Melee1 (or any other climbers) and Marth. Unfortunately, no Meta means Marth is far less threatened. A good choice, but is there better?

Marth - There is ONE reason here alone I say not to. Yes, there are plenty of Marths in Texas (that and GWs, wowow), yes no Meta really REALLY helps him. But let's be real about this. You can't camp with Marth unless you have the lead and its upclose camping with fair. Plus you saw how Diddy is starting to learn to cope with Marth.

Snake - I say snake for a few reasons, specifically for you, Allan. First is that he is able to camp. Dude, I know you love your zair. I know you love baiting into the trap and using stuff like missles to get grabs. While nades, mines, and c4 work slightly differently, they still give you those options. His weight is even heavier than Samus, so you won't feel like you are dying early. Only a few characters can reliably gimp Snake and the biggest threat (meta) is now gone.

You give TONS of characters trouble and have probably the sickest up close game with jabs/tilts. Tech chasing, good dodges, good killing. Yeah, you'll be second seat to Razer in Houston but oh well, you'll feel like you're doing SO much better overall. Just learn the matchups and even DDD won't threaten you as bad.

Marth is really the same...I play him almost the same as I did in Melee. Lol, fsmash. You would need MUCH better spacing. But he still brickwalls most of the cast with his fairs. Dancing Blade is stupidly good, and Dolphin Slash...the best combo breaker in the game. And footstool->dair is sexy. :)

I think he's finally gotten to a point where he WANTS to place higher. 25th with Samus and being one of the very few low tiers to actually make it out of pools is pretty **** good, but it's obvious his character choice is holding back. And moving up the tier list makes a huge difference. So, you can see what the answer is...

I think low tiers are tournament viable unless they have some stupid thing like being infinited, but luckily xyro conveininately banned that at his tournaments and alot of followed suit. For me a 3:7 matchup isnt a problem if you just learn it

OH snap! your right I like to do that for some reason my bad.

But anyways,
Samus= Projectiles, Zair
Wario= Bike, Fart, Aerials, Bite (Which as you know stops every physical attack)
Falco= Lazaz, Chaingrab
Diddy= Nannerz
DDD= lasts the longest vertically, Waddle dee camping, Chaingrab, Kills easily
Snake= Projectiles, Tech Chasing, DAC, Kills easy, LASTS SO ****ING LONG!!!!!

I know you rep Samus and love trashing people with a low tier character but, you gotta give it to Snake he seems like the perfect candidate. Those are the best of the tier list aside from MK. So it looks like Snake or DDD. Just from knowing you as a Samus player.

But when thinking about your matches with Dalub, I would pick out DDD. You used alot of aerials. Snake has 2 aerials worth using. The other 2 imo are situational. DDD on the other hand is CG to aerial based. You also get the shocking waddle dee setups (forgot what they are called) which sets up for the perfect kill.

Aside from the multiple jumps DDD has they both have crappy and predictable recoveries imo.

It looks like your gonna drop your zair and spike for the most part...

...

...

OH ****!!!!!

If you want to keep your zair, your aerials, your projectiles, and your ledgeguarding spike I reccommend Toon Link.

He is fast and quick. He can auto cancel all his bair and nair if I'm not mistaken. You can quickdraw your arrows. You can zair with a bomb in your hands. **** you can do an FSMASH with a bomb in your hands.

So imo for you it would come down to Snake, DDD, and Tink.

But it's all up to you.

BTW was that worth reading?

You say that, but then you see matchups like Wolf vs Dedede or DK vs Dedede (with or without infinite) or Ganon vs most characters and then you basically want to poop your pants. :ohwell:

PT is sort of an exception to be quite honest. You can "stale" squirtle by playing him like Wario then 0-80ing someone. Charizard has grab release / kills / is cool as **** and Ivy can get some clutch kills with fsmash and wall a few characters before switching out.

Before it sounds like I'm on Smogon or something, ima also say that PT seems slightly more viable because no one really plays him (plus he's underrated as has been proven). But like Samus DDD? How does he win? Oh right, he doesn't.

Matchups can and will be walls. You can overcome them sometimes, but what if the other person knows the matchup just as well? I would agree more if this was Melee. It isn't though, and matchups can just **** you. Try Ganon v a decent Olimar. TRY IT.

Also what's with the Tink mains wanting everyone to play him?

Lol, they are nearly the same when you look at it on paper. Zair, projectiles, non laggy aerials, aside from the charged shot Tink's projectile game is way better. His zair is good for combos and spacing. Samus just kinda does spacing and that's about it, it's too long imo.

And, lol I usually go Ganon for Oli's

Edit: Toon Link can juggle with his Utilts and then go into his aerials. Pretty much more kill moves. He isn't as good at ledge hogging, but that is because Samus is the ledge hog queen with MK gone. But the ledge hogging is still insane, you still have all your zair **** and spike.

Tink just seems like he would fit Xyro almost perfectly unless he wants to use Link <_<

Oli doesn't have to do anything besides pivot grab and Ganon has 0 options. I'm sure Zori would love some easy cash next HOBO.

Allan isn't going to place that much higher with Tink just because it doesn't help what he already has issues with (except maybe D3). If he wants to place *high* he's gonna go higher on the tier list realistically.

EDIT: GW is the ledge king now. 100%

and lol Tink's weakness is killing, aerials or not. He isn't the worst at it (better than spamus) but it definitely holds him back with the better characters.

^This.

Start low on the tier list. You'll see that some characters have a ton of bad matchups and even some hard counter matchups. Now jump to like mid tier. Far less bad matchups and very few hard counter matchups overall. Now jump to top tier territory. SWEET, very few bad matchups and almost NO hard counters. And then, obviously, Meta and his no bad matchups and a few possible even matchups.

Tiers make a huge difference in this game. Top tiers are top for a reason. Most people are held back by their character choice, but they can still do good and overcome tiers. It's just not easy. It's much easier just to pick a top tier character and do better.

Even going up just one letter grade and you can notice a huge difference. Having a secondary makes things easier in this game. :)
