Just my take on it. I advise you all to read up, search, or dig into the game for ledge play information. It's quite interesting what you will find, and it will help keep people informed. For example, many of you might not have known that Pikachu is faster off the edge than everyone else in the cast besides tethers. Would you remember just how fast he is off the edge, or how that impacts people who want to plank against him? Do you know how many frames most characters (sans Pika and tethers) are "stuck" on the edge before they can perform any action at all like dropping off, ledge roll/attack, etc? Once you really know these things for sure, you can start to compare them to planking options and better understand what occurs during planking, what holes there are to exploit, what spacing and positioning is required, etc. After knowing more about that, IMO you can make a much better decision regarding LGL's and what to do with them.

I actually know about all of this. If I remember correctly, Pikachu and tethers can get off the edge after just 1 frame but have 20 less frames of invincibility than everyone else (not sure why Pikachu has this, though. Probably the same reason Ness and Lucas have longer ground-release animations). Whenever I'm bored or no one is posting I just look up stuff about the game or go to the character boards. You learn a lot of interesting stuff that way.

Some fun-facts:
-Ganondorf has a Superjump.
-A lot of characters have Phantom-lag, like Mario, Luigi, Pikachu, and Marth.
-Pit's glide attack has transcendent priority.
-Ike's sword attacks have transcendent priority (I think).
-Zero Suit Samus has down-smash gimps on most members of the cast if they recover too carelessly.
-Diddy has multiple distances for his side-B depending on how the control stick is moved (and I thought only Samus has that kind of ability).
-Yoshi's shield is pokable from below.
