Hey, has anyone else noticed that Marx totally fits the Jester + Hunger arcana to a tee? I mean, several other Nintendo characters can fit one or the other, but very few can fit both like how P4 originally did it.

I wonder when can we expect to see Joker's gameplay as well as its character render?

I think it's safe to say it'll be during the next Nintendo Direct! I'm going to guess the next one will happen in January or February, because there's been at least one Direct in January or February every year since 2012.

I'm think he'll probably get added to the website's fighter list after that too, since Piranha Plant is up there - I guess the only reason Joker's not on the list yet is because he hasn't been shown off in-game yet. Maybe they'll also change the "Challenger Pack 1" on the eShop to have his picture and information when they do that?

I don't expect it until March at the earliest. I think they would have shown a model if he was ready to have a trailer soon.

I see we agreed on several things, though I did not think to add in the Aeon and Hunger arcana. I will say this about Ridley though, I don't think making a link with him would be possible.

Ridley is actually hyper intelligent and perfectly capable of speech and relationships.

Plus my headcannon is all the smash characters living in one big house so they're forced to interact. I could totally imagine Ridley having some shady jobs for Joker like Iwai to start the link.

This all sounds awesome. My only quibble is that I'm pretty sure we did know about the Granblue fighting game beforehand, so that casts some doubt there. However, with it also being a 2ch leak that also means it's a more potentially plausible source. Very interesting stuff.

Does "appears with a skill" mean as part of a move or assist trophy or stage hazards? Fascinating. Either way all of these for both Joker and the other stuff sounds great.

While these would all be cool announcements, and an enhanced version of P5 does make sense, it seems odd to me that after how much of a secret Joker's Smash inclusion was, people would have info on the rest of his DLC content so soon. He didn't even get leaked once before his announcement, right? It seems a bit strange that someone would have all this info just 4 days after his announcement.

During the Katalina special, back when Hitagi first mentioned her and the general thread was going in full meltdown mode as it does, some people were arguing for her inclusion by talking about the Platinum game that's out soon as well as "rumors of an ArcSys fighting game". I guess the benefit with that is that it won't be hard to use the forum search function on that thread to find out if in just imagining it but I'm pretty sure it was a rumor someone knew. I never really paid it any mind until now.

Hm. It's definitely possible. I'd take "with a skill" to mean "by means of a special," implying that he's part of Joker's moveset? As I doubt they'd only add Jack Frost and Slime as spirits...

I'd rather not have to wait another year for Persona 5 Arena, but I suppose that would make some sense if an enhanced port of P5 added a new Persona-user who they'd want to include in Arena... Also P5 on Switch would be good, obviously.

I doubt they'd do the literal final dungeon of the game. If its Mementos, then its probably the top level of it - though it still could be morphing back and forth from its metaverse form and the ordinary Shibuya Station form. That said, fighting with Mario, Link, and Kirby in the real-world location of Shibuya Station would be kind of cool - if not especially Persona-y.

I don't want him to but I do enjoy that. I joked about if they were to incorporate Hold Up as a counter. That could work, something to freeze an enemy in their place or cause a retreat or something.

I literally don't have the energy nor motivation to think of other characters I want in Smash anymore, they could probably add James Bond in Smash for all I care, and I'd still be content.

Haha, that would be cool! I could also see a counter having Arsene do the attack - Joker, if he successfully gets the counter, takes a step back, and Arsene jumps in front of him and attacks. Would be interesting to have a sort of coordination between them, with Joker not actually doing the attack himself!

It's possible, but I'm thinking he'll have his own arsenal (knife, gun, etc.), and then just Arsene as his Persona. It would be kind of neat to have a few you can swap between, though!

I'd be kind of surprised if they didn't in a sense? Like, JRPG characters lately seem to have a focus on recreating the feeling of playing the game (Cloud, Shulk, Robin, etc.). When playing Persona, you rarely stick to your initial persona for that long - like, the point to use all the personae at your disposal to attack elemental weaknesses.

Very late reply, but matchups I’m looking forward to:

Joker vs. Link (Protag of the best PS4 game vs Protag of the best Switch game)
Joker vs. Shulk (Protags of my two fav RPGs of all time)
Joker vs. Wario and/or K. Rool (those two characters are like the perfect embodiments of the types of crooks Joker dealt with, just in a more family friendly way)

Yeah, but it doesn't exactly simulate playing Xenoblade. It's like if Link pushed ice blocks for an attack and people said it simulated the puzzle solving aspect of Zelda.

She's not. Sae, Kawakami, Tae and Haru are all much better

Yeah, good point... Well, hopefully Joker's more in the Robin/Cloud camp and not in the Shulk camp...

I imagine part of the reason that people love her so much is that her arc is directly interwoven with the main story - unlike the other female party members, whose arcs begin in the main story but are concluded in confidants. Everyone gets to know her, and unless you don't relate to her emotional struggles at all, you'll probably grow to like her.

That said, you probably weren't literally asking how she is best girl and just wanted people to compliment her... Well, uh, she cosplays as a P1 enemy in P5DSL. So, that's neat.

well, she rides her Persona, she has the whole Mad Max look going for her, she is very linked to the story and pretty much becomes the secound in command of the Phantom Thieves. Those are a few reasons.

Oh there's worse consequences in this game. Imagine poor Joker going Lovers route with female Robin or Corrin. While he's maxing out Confidant, they're maxing out Supports. The moment they start going steady, some random schmuck shows up claiming to be your son from the future pops into existence and asks to crash on your couch.

This would also makes the 'cheating' cutscene more awkward.........
