Not sure, it is probably the photorealistic clothing. It is kind of like putting a costume that belongs to a character like Ryu on a character like Marth. Compare Marth and Ryu's render to see what I sort of mean.

I also think part of it is that Smash's sorta realistic motif lacks the more anime-influenced nuances of Persona 5's art style.

I agree it looks a little weird, but there's no plausible explanation for what else it could be. I bet it'll look more normal on the website and css. It's not weird enough to say it's not the official render.

Mostly because it didn’t feel like a 3D model made by Capcom, since those are pretty meh recently.
Seriously, I love how Ken looked in the leak and the final game.
If anyone's interested, the Front Page did a write up for potential Joker release dates. Summarized thusly:
April 1st. Poetic for being April Fool's Day. Not supported by the extreme lack of gameplay hype. Chances: Unlikely
April 4th: P5 Worldwide release date. Came out in Japan first though. Chances: ........no.
April 9th: Canon Start date of the game. Symbolic, but gives enough time for an event from Nintendo/Atlus. Chances: I mean, it could happen.

That Best Buy tweet is weird. Given that the original Tweet at them doesn't acknowledge how it is a never-before-seen Joker model, part of me wonders if the PR person didn't know that and was just giving a generic meme-y response?

Had a bit of a discussion with some friends over at Discord and here's another wild pitch - we're getting Joker playable this week based on a few things. Theory goes like this:
- Best Buy hasn't taken the render down despite no official word from Nintendo, and whoever's running their Twitter is directly acknowledging some of the responses people have had. Whatever the case may be, it could be implied that Nintendo is going to do something soon within the week since it's a weekly ad, and if they weren't then there wouldn't be any reason for Best Buy to publish what is essentially official art that Nintendo hasn't revealed yet.
- Tl;dr as to why April 1st is a pretty solid date to do something: April Fools + Joker + Fool Arcana = profit. Aside from that, we have the updated "Approaching..." and this current render deal. April Fool's Day is also the time when Nintendo tends to act like a character of theirs hijacks their Twitter, and while Joker isn't owned by them, the character's M.O. would make him an ideal pick to do so. Remember, the Smash site stated that Joker stole his invitation, and he's hijacked real-world events such as the Persona Live concert some years back for Persona 5's gameplay reveal and the Game Awards to announce his participation in Smash; these were events that - most importantly - had no prior indications that they were happening... in other words, they came outta nowhere, and we never saw them coming. What if Joker actually releasing followed that same format? Getting both the trailer and announcement wouldn't be that farfetched with the character's prior history in mind.

Another thing to consider in addition: tomorrow is the start of the fiscal year in Japan. And what's a better way of getting investors and stock marketers to notice you in a positive way than with a publicity stunt?

I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I really hate what it seems like Jane is going to be.
First off, literally the only reason people like her is because she's a girl. It's the only thing we even know about her. If she was a random guy instead of a random girl, no one would care
Second, if she's a female version of Joker, that's fine. But if she's a side character who becomes the mc while he's in jail, then I have a huge problem with it. I don't want to see the phantom thieves not only abandon Joker while he's in jail to protect them, but also replace him with someone else.
I also want to see more events with the cast we already have. I want to see extra dates and group hangout stuff like P4 golden, not stuff with this new character with Joker gone.
She also looks generic as ****. She's by far the least interesting looking character in the game.
If they really go that route, I may not pick up P5R. Not to mention they probably delayed Joker just so they could give up half if his alts for her.

And like before, having too many 'what ifs' about her is looking at too many possibilities that we just dont know the truth about. If it turns out a way you dont like, then we can talk about it then, but some will probably still like things even if it doesnt cater to everything we might like, and until we really know, people who connect one way or another have the right to enjoy the hype.
And there's going to be more to her too, we know that as well as the meta-verse side, so i dont see her as bland.

Hey if the main character had been a girl first, im sure people would enjoy seeing a new guy one for p5r. It's just filling something general that people might look for. and then there's getting to know them more with the game and people can and will grow to like the characters, to whatever degree. People generally come to like the characters in a good game they play so long as they're at least a bit relatable, and even though we didnt see much it's enough to get a glimpse and like her and the intrigue. Unless something shows up with her that makes it hard to like her, i dont think there's a reason to withhold hype. People like having something to look forward to, whether it's for a game series they like or whatever.

Now you get what I mean: Yeah I'm cool for a FeMC but why did Atlus decide to possibly use Joker's Smash presence as nothing more than an advertisment tool for their next spinoffs? If they just had Joker as he is with the P5 content people already know, that's advertisment already yet they thought it was a brilliant idea to possibly pull a Roy/Corrin even if they're only third party. I get that Atlus is smaller than Nintendo and that they need to make money, but the idea of using Smash just to advertise a spinoff sounds like the kind of thing Atlus would do in the first place.

We have no proof Joker was delayed for any reason. We have no proof of anything about the girl in the P5R teaser beyond "She exists and vocally said some anti-Thieves stuff to Akechi."
If ATLUS or Nintendo actually do something bad, then we can complain about it until the cows come home. But, for now, this thread seems to have a lot of people being salty over assumptions that are just being made about P5R and Joker in Smash.
