I have a hilarious Marth v. Lucina video uploaded on ZeRo's youtube channel of him v. MVD. They are using customs (the wrong custom by accident in the first match) and just playing around. But the big surprise is at around 9:30. If that counter can consistently do that (to other moves) then hallelujah.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJET7J46Noo

ZeRo (Lucina) vs MVD (Marth) in a 11 minute series of friendlies. Lots of cool stuff.
I already posted it but yeah.

1:55:10, losers semifinals first and then losers finals right after that. (Lucina play, Customs On: 1123) I figured I would post the vod before twitch deletes it. Any help would be appreciated.

Grand Finals was won by TheRusBus's Default Marth. Our set in winners (Rus vs. Myself) should be around there as well at some point.

Make sure to find the result thread of this and post in our tourny result thread. Marth winning a tourney and Lucina placing is always good stuff.

i'll take any advice you got, especially vs the Falcon since i struggle with Falcon. don't feel like i have many options on the ground vs him and i don't know if NAKAT truly knows how punishable marth's aerials are.

tbh i think i could have survived that unfortunate lag-dair (vs his pikachu 2nd round) by boosting my momentum with a side B after my second jump, should probably just try next time. getting too used to Roy's recovery in PM lol

second match is a good watch btw, despite the lag spike. got some hard reads that payed off, kinda hype

edit: i uploaded it to youtube : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMvLlPawhj4&feature=youtu.be

Not my vid but I thought this must be shared: skip game 1 if you dont wanna c diddy:
https://youtu.be/S6tMvN4OUv0
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTv5qVkkky4 And here is set two. Apparently they are uploading sets nearly as soon as they happen.

This tourney was so much fun. I'm so happy Ally is picking up Marth. The whole time I've been giving Ally info and tips on Marth which he incorporated in his gameplay tonight (like learning to not fast fall SH Fair or doing Dancing blade forward 1 2 3 to up 4 on floaty characters). This Rosa player is #2 in Michigan (and this state has all the good players in the midwest) and it shows considering he destroyed Ally's impressive Mario and Diddy.

I think he'll take Marth to new heights. He surprised us all by 3-0 ing Zinoto (Diddy player, #1 Michigan PR) at Shuffle at OSU last weekend with Marth (I wish there was a video, hopefully soon). He told me tonight when the tourney ended that he's going to the lab with Marth so I'm excited. He truly believes the character is underrated, and these tourneys didn't even have customs. His Marth is obviously not as good as his other characters and you can see some mistakes in his decision making with the Marth. So hearing that he'll dedicate more time into the character is great news from a player with so much skill.

Hello Marths, here is a video of me against a Bowser:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABKswA1vzmM
As you will see, he pretty much destroyed me so any advice/help would be greatly appreciated!
Note 1: This Bowser is one of the top Greek Smashers (he ended up winning this tournament while I got 3rd)
Note 2: You can find more videos of my Marth in this channel if you so wish!

Thanks in advance!

I would put down your issues to miss spacing (very few tipper aerials or tilts, hits you would get would be quite close and usually not very productive) and over zealous jumping.

Yoshi extends really far in a lot of his moves while also coming with silly hitbox sizes/hidden disjoints. Marth still outdisjoints these it just requires you to know how to space further away, against something like Yoshi's forward air it's very tricky, but it's doable.

Staying on the ground more is very helpful as you have dash jump aerials or aerials out of shield after Yoshi attacks/moves. You can try to react to egg lay (essentially it isn't too scary/freaky if it isn't wave bounced, so yoshi's going to start facing backwards) with rolls or otherwise. You can walk and crouch and that gets us through a lot of yoshi's hitboxes (along with shields) and you won't need to rely on back air to swat eggs as much when ones you know following a yoshi nair with it can be ftilted (or harder-read: fsmash; try to instantly set up your fingers after inputting to start shuffling the egg to avoid follow ups if you whiff).

I know I through out a crap load of unsafe moves here. I was pretty disappointed that at least 3 fsmashes I threw out when I read his jump at me whiffed...looked like it his model but not his hurtbox :/ Should've zoned more, he couldn't get in whenever I just stood still in place. Getting off the ledge was such a painnnnnnnnnn, probably should've tried ledge jump airdodge or something.
At the end of the game 3 I walked away and fsmashed...but it didn't come out ;/ It just shows me walking away and getting hit in the back of the head with a fair lol

i had another set with Slush the yoshi main that I'll upload if they put it on twitch

Hey guys, I fought against EmblemLord's Ryu recently and I would love to see anyways I can improve against not only Ryu, but as a Marth main in general. I also provided the post-battle conclusion into the description in the spoiler tag, so it's easy for you to see. :p (You can critique me via this video's YT comments or here btw)
Post-battle conclusion as to why Marth has a slight advantage against Ryu: I believe Marth has a slight advantage against Ryu because Marth has a pretty safe opportunity to use his jab, u-tilt, and f-tilt, for Ryu lacks the frame data to particularly punish if at Marth's tipper range. Perhaps if I went for it more instead of f-smashing I would've done much better, but who knows. :p

Ahhhhhhh the art of the offensive marth it was beautiful. Falcon iz jus annoying asf 2 b honest dwn tilt and jab are the best ways 2 keep him off. And spot dodge 2 avoid that grab. Ur best bet would b 2 set him up into the air and beat on him. Staying grounded against him 2 long can cost u 2 lose a lead or stock quick.

Word of advice frm an offensive marth 2 another. For matchups against rush dwn characters let them make the first mistake, u have 2 transition frm defense 2 offense for those matchups. The defense may feel unnatural at first but once u make that transition 2 ur offense it will flow like a waterfall.

Here's a translation!

Ah, the art of the offensive Marth; that was beautiful. Falcon is just annoying as ****, to be honest. D-tilt and jab are the best ways to keep him off. And spot dodge to avoid that grab. You're best bet would be to set him up into the air and beat on him. Staying grounded against him too long can cause you to lose a lead or stock quick.

Word of advice from an offensive Marth to another. For matchups against rushdown characters, let them make the first mistake, you have to transition from defense to offense for those matchups. The defense may fell unnatural at first, but once you make that transition, you're offense will flow like a waterfall
Probably wasn't necessary, but I was bored.

Has there been any tournament videos of Marth post 1.0.8? I'd really like to see the jab and nair buffs put to use in a real match.

Edit: Any videos besides the one already posted in this thread, I mean.

This is actually my first post lol. Anyway, almost a month ago I got to play in a 2/3 Marth ditto set with famous commentator, TKBreezy. The audio might be off by a few frames which is something I have to fix.. other than that, I'm open to criticism on my playstyle, videos, channel, or almost anything in general. Is he going? I wonder how he's treating the new jab. He should be on this forum dammit!

Yeah, he's getting ready for EVO. Should be cool to see his marth, I'm pretty sure his movement is going to be nuts. Still not sure how he's going to win the sheik matchup tho... You know he's going to face an army of sheiks.

Last video I saw of him was that Neo set, and he was moving pretty well already. Hope he's still grinding it out in the lab.

Meh, if the Marth player can out-play the Sheik player, he should win. Can't wait to see him though.

A couple of times you went for a shield break when Rosa was not able to die from it. Also at the end, when Rosa was at 119 (maybe even 110), with your rage and that stage you had an Uthrow kill (with 3-ish pummels just to be sure). You even grabbed her twice and refused to Uthrow. Don't know why you went for DB a couple of times there too.

yeah i threw out to many sb in neutral, and I wasn't sure if I would be able to get the grab so i went for db since it can kill too but unfortunately it doesn't always link ;/

Yeah I try to avoid DB on a floaty character at those percents. So when you got the 2 grabs near the end, did you not think Uthrow would kill?
