now we all know "DDD? chain grab to spike is an instant win!" but if the DDD user wasnt ranked top 15 in NJ then i wouldnt complain... idk what i do wrong, once i get a chain grab going what would be good to follow up after? up-smash WOUld be good but its a kill move and i wouldnt want to weaken the knockback.. and any other tips goin up a good DDD user?

Don't approach. Laser away, make him come to you. Don't do any moves that will leave you close to him. Stick with Ftilt if you have to fight grounded. Use lots of SH aerials that you land behind him if he shields. Above all, never go toe-to-toe with him, you'll lose.

chaingrab>spike is a very good option. use plenty of shdls to rack up damage, as D3 is pretty heavy. ending the cg with the gatling combo isnt a bad idea either, just use plenty of lasers to refresh your moves. he has a pretty long grab and tilt range so space yourself with shls and iaps.

CG is awesome if you can get it, but it's ridiculously hard to get a grab against a good D3 player. His grab range and shield-grabs are just so much better than yours. DO NOT try to force a chain grab. If he gives you an opportunity, take advantage. Never go into a stock intending to get a grab, though.

(Walking) CG gets you tons of free damage when he is at 0% ..
When CG doesn't work anylonger you should Dthrow -> Hyphen smash, which works a long way up the %-rising of D3 ..

Get in close and jab, jab, jab.

Save: Fsmash & bair for KO's

Keep in mind that if you see a Gordo use your reflector for a suprising KO ;P

uh....both jabs and cg require you to be close to the D3, which is generally NOT what you want in this matchup. stick to lasers and forcing him to approach, then use aerials. fsmash has a bit of lag, so if you do chose to use it, make sure he cant punish you afterwards. i personally prefer usmash, dair, bair, and the occasional surprise dsmash for KOs.

Laser him, Shine Waddle Dees, Illusion to reset the match, use Bair a lot, Uair, Utilt, use your entire repertoire against him, CG is good, but you can't rely on it. All of Falco's moves are pretty good (except Fair :p) so just use all of them. be sure to punish him if he uses a laggy move and misses.

From what little experience I have against D3, lasers seem to stop the Waddle Dees more effectively than the shine (less lag afterwards), but I could just be fooling myself.

Can't LL from a trip :(

Imagine, Shine>laserlock *drools*
now that would be just **** xDDDDDD

@denzi it just depends on how close he is to you, if he is close, shine probably isnt the best option.

and i still think spacing+camping is the key, dont fight him up close, especially not on the ground.

If he really is that good, then i guess you can come here for Falco advice but what you will need to beat him is reading and anticipation experience, when they are that high up the game changes dramatically, just be thankful you have somebody really good to practice with.

I was playing with 15th ranked SoCal guy's MK today
I got 3stocked one game, need new/more/better ppl to practice with regularly

Yeah lasers are good, and I usually get approached by D3's when laser spamming. They roll dodge their way over to try and f-tilt or something. Try to get a grab in then (following a roll a dodge).

PS- I'm from NJ, PM me

LOL most people wouldnt try to roll dodge as an approach when you laser. they will try to walk and powershield.

I never said I played against any good DDD players
As a matter of fact, there is little to no competition in my where-abouts.
I spent a year making a big tourney, and got 15 people -.-

It's just a really bad match up for Dedede. Falco can shield poke if his aerials are spaced and his moves are faster than the majority of Dedede's. If you just keep an attack going and maintain good positioning, you should be able to win this one easily. If they up tilt your phantasm, you're getting way too predictable.

I didn't side B and laser spam you....trust me, it could have been a lot worse. Ask anyone I use to play/ watch my old videos.

I use Side B a lot to move horizontally. Falco's run is horrible. I've learned to cancel it where I want to either stop and jab, hit inside of you to possibly shield poke and combo set up, go through you for a safe move, or shorten it for the mind game.

I'm a little unorthodox with dealing with ledge camping, you'll have to see when you try it :)

An interesting thing to do to DeDeDe is to d-throw out of chaingrab %, jab, boost pivot grab, bthrow.

I think I can use my mind reading to discern that your techskill needs a bit of work, because you're not watching him if you're setting yourself up for Gordos. You should be able to SHDL and reverse SHDL with your eyes closed

It's kinda hard when they release the gordo right before you fire the first laser and then you are stuck until you hit the ground, of course it would easily be avoided by SHL or by not letting DDD be that close to you, but what can I say, my game needs some work.
