I'm sure any Xeno stage would get an FD mode. Honestly the only ones I see as unlikely to get an FD mode are scrolling stages and maybe certain Walk-Offs or something where it wouldn't make "sense" to have a floating island. Like the Punch Out!! stage.

That's true. I still hope that it will get a Final Destination version.
I'm still pulling for the Guar Plains to be the Xenoblade stage.

I believe what Sakurai meant by "almost all stages" was that past stages wouldn't get FD modes. They're usually just simple ports after all.

I think some flying stages won't get an FD version. I don't think that Skyloft or Palutena's Temple will get one. This is why I am hoping that a Xenoblade area will get one.

Palutena's Temple does have one though, not sure on Skyloft. I feel like there'll be only a few stages which won't get FD-versions (like some scrolling ones, though I'd like the option of a not scrolling one with the same music and background!), but we'll see!

Hey guys, we're beyond 50 pages! I agree with Weeginji and DaDavid. I think old stages and stages with lots of scrolling or movement will not have the FD version. I figured Xenoblade would have a massive stage, maybe because the game is so massive and has a lot of exploration, but at this point I'd just prefer a unique layout from a memorable location such as Prison Island, Gaur Plains, something really scenic/memorable, etc.

The Monado will grow with us. It's only a matter of time now where Sakurai will find his own True Monado and add Shulk in Smash.

I prefer an area that is large and would take advantage of the Wii U's hardware. The areas that immediately spring to mind to me are Guar Plains and Eryth Sea. If anything, I am thinking that Guar Plains will be a stage.

Potential Xenoblade Spoilers:

Maybe the stage could be that ship that the Machina have in the Fallen Arm? The one that they use to enter the Mechonis' Core. The stage could take place on the flying ship while the Bionis and Mechonis are dueling. Might be a bit spoilery to show that though.

Prison Island or Gaur Plains are safer bets.

Satori Marsh guys, night version, plain and simple. Or why not have them all? Like a stage that flies around the Bionis and the Mechonis and stops in areas like Skyloft?

Replaying this game right now to get hyped for his possible reveal..... even if Shulk doesn't make it there needs to be some Xenoblade music in the game.

By the way, people that talk about Shulk as another sword user are silly..... his entire look would be unique to Smash. No one else uses a futuristic beam sword, after all.

Shulk's sword is more than a pointy thing you swing would swing around for certain. I've never seen or heard of a sword as complex and beautiful as the Manado.

= Shulk is a generic pointless addition to Smash Bros. Instead we must add Dr. Luigi to the roster for more variety and move set potential.

Back to serious matters, I can't wait to replay the game myself this summer. I'm sure I'll come up with new ideas that can be incorporated into Smash plus it will be a good time and I'll be able to get some friends into Xenoblade. While I love Satorl Marsh, I would prefer some where else from the game, although a day to night cycle is a must. Idk about you, but there are already enough Skyloft esque movement stages. However it can easily work with the unique epic environments from Xenoblade and I wouldn't complain if that was what we got. You Will Know Our Names, Engage the enemy, One Who Gets In Our Way, Mechanical rhythm, Gaur Plains, the list of music goes on.

Yeah I'm actually opposed to a roaming type stage for Xenoblade at this point. I just want a nice stable stage with good platforms that maybe move around ala Smashville or Wiley's castle.

I want to be able to play "serious" matches on it without resorting to FD.

His design is very steam punk/scifi/anime in the vein of Final Fantasy, which is a bit of stereotype but one that we do not have represented in Smash, and that no Fire Emblem or Golden Sun character could fill.

So, in terms of play style, I sort of want him to take inspiration from Ky Kiske.

Ky is a versatile user friendly character with long ranged attacks but low damage output. He's also associated with electricity provided by his weapon Thunderseal (later replaced by Aqualia and Magnolia Eclair II), which is highlighted by his signature attack Stun Edge.

I believe the opposite of all that stuff on the top of my post and was merely imitating anti Shulk comments I've heard.

I understand, I'm just saying that Shulk's design style is super different from anything else we have seen in the game.

I think any Xenoblade stage we get has to have a day and night cycle with music changing to fit along with it.

Mostly agree, though some songs (like Zanza because I'll be a sad fan if some form of that song doesn't appear) should definitely be able to play straight through.

So does anybody else thin that Sal Romano leak is real? It has Shulk so I'm really excited.
At this point, I believe the leak. But I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be false. He's only missed Rosalina and didn't even say that this was the final list of newcomers.

I think I've said this before, but regarding stages, I would love to have Eryth Sea. That is one of the most captivating areas in Xenoblade, in my opinion. Having shooting stars would also be a super nice touch. I just hope we're not getting Tephra Cave or the Ether Mine. Those areas scared me to death. Especially Ether Mine, Mechon were far too scary.

I'm thinking he'll pick a stage that shows at least one of the robots from the stage.
Heck maybe it'll be a cruse stage where you go to all the well known places those are getting pretty popular after all.

I think we need to take stage diversity into account to. I mean all the locations in Xenoblade are pretty unique, but depending on what stages get in from other series, it might be best to wish for stages that are a bit different from others on the list. For example not wanting Makna Forest if a similar looking DK stage were to get in.

So in my mind, Eryth Sea having that beautiful sky as a key feature comes real close to Mario Galaxy, but that's just me I guess.

We could have the top of Frontier Village be a stage, and then we can stare at the Eryth Sea skies in beautiful HD.

We could have Guar Plains for the 3DS version.
Eryth Sea for the Wii U version.
Problem Solved.

Agniratha anyone? I feel like that would look beautiful as a Wii U stage, and captures the feel of the game very well.

Guar Plains or Prison Island definitely would be great 3DS stages.

Honestly, I would like to see Colony 9 as a stage even though it's not as grandiose as some other locations. Imagine a Delfino Plaza-like stage where you see the colony dynamically getting attacked by a fleet of Mechon during the night. The siren sounds, houses catch on fire, things crumble down, and the colony's residents struggle against the Mechon assault until things return to normal at dawn. Now imagine that every now and then Metal Face emerges from the background during the attack, and just like the Yellow Devil, forces you to fight him away.

It probably wouldn't be as visually-impressive as a hypothetical Gaur Plains or Eryth Sea stage, but I think it would do a better job of representing Xenoblade's story and the struggles between Homs and Mechon, Bionis and Mechonis, etc. Alternatively, Sword Valley would suffice as well, but I find that place a bit too brown and dull, visually.

Argh. I wonder if I'll ever actually finish this game. I advance a little ways, get stuck at some boss fight or something and quit for a while, and repeat cycle. I'm currently at the fight with "Metal Face" in Sword Valley where he has a bunch of Xords with him.

Maybe I just need to do a bunch of sidequests so I become uber powered and blow through everything. The problem is I'm terrible with sidequests in general... Some advice?

It also doesn't help that Pokemon Y has been sucking up all my gaming time (I've nearly put a 1000 hours into it by now).

Well, it's recommended that you do sidequests along the adventure and as well as explore areas. Doing both things will gain you experience.
If you are having trouble, then you will have to resort to one of the worst aspects of an RPG... level grinding. If you don't do the sidequests early on and later, you will struggle later on. The more sidequests you do, the more sidequests will be available to you and thus help you gain more experience (rebuilding Colony 6 is also advisable). Gaining Affinity within an area really helps.

Yeah. I was really behind for doing almost NO sidequests throughout the game. When I got to the boss in Valak Mountain, I was 4 levels below him and kinda suffered until I decided to bite the bullet and grind later.

I thought I was over leveled after I easily beat some boss prior to Alcamoth, so I ran past a bunch of enemies in the next area. When I got to the next boss I had to grind two levels before I could beat it. Funny how that worked out.

Level grinding wasn't so bad in Xenoblade since exploring new areas gives you tons of XP. Most side quests get completed naturally if you talk to enough NPCs before exploring new areas. I don't think grinding is even required if you make a decent effort to fight most enemies, explore, and do some quests. Personally, I don't like to be over leveled anyway, since I think some of the challenge and fun goes away, but Xenoblade does a pretty good job with level balance and difficulty.

Off the front page? I THINK NOT.

Anybody possibly see Shulk getting revealed at E3? I'd love that myself.

I forgot about the fact that we'd get a stage on Wii U and 3DS...

Well in that case, I could see the bigness of Guar Plains becoming the preferred choice for Wii U with something smaller like Prison Island working for the 3DS.

I hope if we don't get Shulk at E3 we'll at least see a Xenoblade stage, if not both.

Either Shulk without a stage or with one. If we only got a stage and nothing else, everyone will say it's just Smashville all over again. :glare:

At this point it is basically get revealed at E3 or shown post release with the impending summer release date. Well... Sakurai may do another Smash Direct or simply show another character, but I doubt there will be any big reveals other than a single possible character in July (depends on if the game comes out July/August).

With that being said, I think Shulk can be revealed at E3 along with some substantial information on X such as the backstory or premise that will give fans a better idea of what to expect. Too much is a mystery, especially since the game is supposed to be released this year.

Edit: I'm not sure why, but I feel like a Xenoblade stage would be exclusive to Wii U, so there would only be one. Another thought that just crossed my mind, what if we get a stage from X? What do you guys think about the possibility?

I don't think there's any chance we'll get a stage from X. Since we don't know anything about it, fans have no connection to it, and for stages that rep playable franchises, isn't that the point?

I guess if it DID happen, I'd be neutral, as long as Shulk was playable. Still think a Xenoblade stage is the only option.

As for E3, I think we might see Shulk. It really depends. I kind of expect Falcon and Ness...and Pac-man, and I kind of get the feeling he's gonna talk about what's different with Ganon. Just a hope I guess but it could happen.

So maybe they'll show Shulk along with some X info. It could happen, but I wouldn't be surprised if it didnt. Hidden characters blah blah.

Shulk seems like a perfect E3 reveal as it would be super easy to troll people into thinking it's a new X trailer at first.

I say that Shulk could potentially be revealed at E3. I sense that if Smash is paired with X, then we could see Shulk. If Shulk isn't revealed at E3, SSB 3DS is going to be released in August, and if we don't get a Direct before SSB 3DS releases, then we will have to painfully find out if he is unlockable...
That's a terrible fate if you ask me.

As for the Wii U and 3DS stage, I think that an area like Colony 9 should be on the 3DS while the Wii U gets Guar Plains or Eryth Sea.

I think Shulk has a pretty big chance of being an unlockable, as most casuals don't know who he is.. So let's hope the other Sal Romano characters are confirmed so Shulk gets confirmed as well! :)

Shulk does have a big chance of being unlockable, but I can see him get revealed at E3 or at an upcoming Nintendo Direct. I can mostly see that if Sakurai wants to give credit to Monolith on the website and the title screen.

In regards to the Sal Romano leak, that leak will hinge upon both the Miis and a Rhythm Heaven character. I am extremely confident that we will see Shulk, Palutena, Chrom, and Pac-Man be playable... but it's those two that I am fishy about.

I don't think we'll have to wait that long, even if he isn't revealed at E3. I honestly expect some major visual leaks either before or after E3. The time is drawing near, and that's when these things normally happen. Either way, we'll know if A. Shulk is in and/or B. Sal's source is legit very soon, I can feel it.

As a side note, he's apparently super popular in Japan, so I'd expect he could still easily be revealed, he'd just be like Little Mac in reverse, to a lesser extent. Because I can still see the crowd at E3 (or whatever. They'll do a direct again.) going ****ing insane if he's revealed. I know I'd be doing that...
