Yeah, Directs focused on that game have historically only showed that game.

It does significantly boost my hype, if it's anything like Next Level tweeting LAST direct.

On this: it could very well be nothing. She later said that she is just excited for the game, which could very well be true. I would say expect the worse and hope for the best. Also, she didn't retweet the Direct if that means anything.

At that point, I would consider Shulk all but confirmed. I doubt that Xenoblade will go into a Smashville situation, especially when Shulk is one of the most requested characters worldwide (specifically in Japan).

I don't believe they'd show a stage without him though, not at a major thing like this. Honestly JUST seeing a stage would lower my expectations quite a bit.

And guys I know the hype is real, but seriously she just said she is looking forward to the game. It's not even about the Direct right?

Yeah I'm riding a hype high for sure up until Tuesday itself. I'll temper the hype at that point.

I bought Xenoblade the first day it was released in North America, admittedly only because of the title. After a couple days, I just could not get into it and I put it down. A couple months ago during some vacation time at home, I decided to try it again and I'm very glad I did. I'm only now just finishing it with over 120 hours of gameplay. I'd say Shulk is probably my top realistic pick for a newcomer. Seeing all these tweets (especially this one: https://mobile.twitter.com/Sora_Sakurai/status/373426526064107523?screen_name=Sora_Sakurai) actually have me feeling kind of excited for the direct when I really didn't care that much before.

Those dreams aren't a regular occurence. I'd say I have one every two months or so. Most of the time the dreams are vague, boring and don't jump around to different scenarios much.

The eventful dreams are really fun though, they're always very clear and I remember even minor details sometimes.

I feel you, man. I should really be staying off the forums around Direct dates but I can't help it. I think I'll be hyped no matter what they show (Unless a Mii or Pac-Man shows up).

I'd be fine with them showing up, but if that's the ONLY newcomer that shows up, I'd be disappointed.

Personally I think Mii's are very likely to be shown here (if they are in) because they can be shown alongside other stuff to distract those that would otherwise rage. But that's besides the point >.>

So to pass the time for whatever's going to come of tomorrow's direct, I've been thinking up moveset possibilities for Shulk aside from the ones in the OP.

I'm really interested in a moveset that uses Monado powers as buffs, most specificially one that has even more utilization in team battles, which is something we haven't ever seen.

Like for example, Monado gauge present or not, being able to cast Speed, Shield, Armor etc. (What was the one with the bleed effect? I totally missed out on grabbing it.) on allies or yourself to assist in combat sounds interesting and unique. His aerial attacks and a-moves can be Stream Edge, Shaker Edge, Air Slash, etc. but I really feel like Monado powers + team battles = awesome possibilities.

Honestly, I don't see Shulk and Isaac be in direct competition with each other. Though, I understand the Isaac supporters' frustration if Shulk made it in.
I feel as though if one makes it in, the other one easily can. The debates between the two are pointless.

I loled at the Shulk vs Isaac debate consuming the Direct thread. I really hope both get in, but its obvious where my preference goes. Hmmm, worst case scenario where all of the Shulk supporters react like Isaac fans during pre Smash 6 discussions if Shulk doesn't get in....
Doubt that will become a reality, what a nightmare

I'm going to stay away from the Direct thread for my sanity for now.

With that being said, Shulk will definitely make it in Smash, regardless of whether he's playable, some kind of trophy, or sticker. That we can count on.

Besides the uniqueness between the two characters, putting Shulk in really makes a lot of sense as it would really benefit Nintendo. He's like the mascot of the Operation Rainfall campaign, and he stands out as the main character in Xenoblade. Nintendo and Monolith Soft have been buddies for a while, which means they're going to work together and make games for a very long time, such as with "X" right now. Having him in for Smash 4 is a free advertisement to Monolith Soft's future games, much like how Marth and Roy impacted the popularity of Fire Emblem games internationally.
