Yeah, and I don't feel bad about spoiler the set pieces here because it's an unused area, but I really wonder what those little, melting-looking houses were for. Something tells me it was a secondary Nopon habitat considering their size. I love the structure of the zig-zaggy walkways too. Could've been a fun place.
I always assumed it was the remnants of the civilisation of the Giants.
I also believe this area is shown when Arglas and Egil are talking about what lies beyond the endless sea.
If they were to remake Xenoblade, I'd love to see at least one of the other Colonies, even if it's just ruins. But seriously, Xenoblade is hard to improve on, so that's just being picky really.

Melia route, Melia route, Melia route, Melia route, Melia route, Melia route, Melia route.
Let's just give the poor girl a break already.
Everyone else will get new, beautiful models, while they just reuse Melia's.

Poor Melia.

It seems the Colony numbers got higher as they went down the Bionis, perhaps once a Colony got destroyed they moved down to a new location. It would be really cool to see the other Colonies.

guys how cool (but unlikely) would it be if they pulled a Bayonetta 2 and put Xenoblade Chronicles HD in with Xenoblade Chronicles X

Weh. Honestly, I'd like it better if they didn't. I know it would save us money, but Monolith deserves $50/60 respectively for each game, and I'm sure that after they're done creating the largest world possible for a Wii U game, there won't be any room left for a remastered Xenoblade.

It would certainly add a lot of value to the overall package, though it's highly unlikely since it's a standalone game that's not directly related to the original.

But if we do take the rumour into perspective and Xenoblade is that remastered game, then it won't be bundled since the remastered game is supposed to fill in the gaps for next year.

It's been a while since I've actually posted in this thread (the social convo is just too fun), so I'm not exactly caught up with what's what.

So there's a game being remastered and peeps be thinkin' it's Xenoblade?

That game in HD would be beautiful. Just beautiful. It deserves it more than most games for sure and, if Shulk's in Smash, then a remastered Xenoblade would be just what people need to become more aware of the franchise and get even MORE hyped for X.

What's been confusing me about X is how it's not supposed to take place in the same universe as Xenoblade Chronicles, as in it's just a spiritual successor.....but then why are Nopons there...?

I honestly think it'll be Majora's Mask. I'm kind of indifferent to that since I've never played Majora's beyond the first round of the three days because I rented it out once and couldn't get any further.

By the way, thought I'd report back on this poll that went around on Best Nintendo Character. http://www.dorkly.com/toplist/64870/best-nintendo-character#!bDMYXH

Shulk placed 69th out of 112. Beaten by the likes of Kamek, Daisy, Biggoron, and that old guy who gives you the sword in Legend of Zelda.
Fiora placed 78th, also beaten by Wii Fit Trainer and Maxwell (who isn't even a Nintendo character). One above Birdo.
Riki isn't shown but it is implied he placed somewhere in the bottom 12.

I'm glad I expected this to be disappointing.

Edit:

I'm betting on some kind of connection, moreso that it's the same world separated by time. If not, there's always the possibility of doing what Final Fantasy does with things like Moogles and Chocobos. They're just reusing races and names.

Maybe they're like alternate timelines.....like if what we see at the end of Xenoblade didn't happen (You know what scene I'm talking about) then maybe it eventually becomes the story of Xenoblade X

To have cute mascots present, don't question it.

Aliens? I mean, it's set on a distant planet...

Really, though, the fact that Tatsu breaks out of a clearly terrestrial container gives me the impression that X's Nopon are from Earth. Still, I'm holding out hope that X's story retains SOME connection to Chronicles...

I don't want to say much, but my friend met a guy at an event who claims to have worked at Nintendo. He was wearing a Smash 4 shirt and gave some insight to the builds he played. Anyway long story short, when asked about Shulk he said "you're in for a pretty big surprise"! Hopefully i'll get to talk to him this week ;)
On the internet, sure. But face to face? You'd have to be a real *******. Like I said I don't want to get everyone too riled up, i'll be back Thursday with a report.
Back as promised. I go to a bi-weekly Smash night, sadly he wasn't there. I did learn a few good things though. 1. the guy has a facebook which confirms his job with Nintendo. 2. Someone else there had talked to him, and says Shulk will be in.

Honestly, this is a good sign, but i'm still remaining skeptical. Remembe when we had the Gematsu leak claiming a Shulk trailer, only to be bummed out by Robin (dat Manado purge looked so right..). Anyhow, i'll try meeting this mystery man again next week. But so far, none of the credible leaks have said he's NOT in, so this is indeed shaping up well :]

So... About the HD remaster...

I really hope it's Xenoblade but as unlikely as it sounds, I hope it's bundled with Xenoblade X.

I'm putting my money on MM or Sunshine. Xenoblade seems likely also.

You have my interest, but not yet my attention. Understandably I still think this is false, but I'm do kinda wanna know how this plays out.

There's also a very real chance he could be revealed soon anyway :)

Hopefully he said "You're in for a pretty big surprise!" in a way that's positive towards Shulk! (Because honestly, he could've said the same to Chrom fans, gotten them hyped, and then bam.)

However, regardless of this, I'm still pretty much sure he's in.

Same reason Moogles and Chocobo were in every Final Fantasy, to have a cute mascot. (and something players can get familiar with)

If Shulks getting announced, its probably next Tuesday (anniversary of EU release) or possibly the beginning of September (AUS release). I think it would be nice if as a reference to Project Rainfall, it was raining in the trailer.

Lets say we have Lucus, its raining, and he's being attacked in a similar manner to how his SSE, we don't see the enemy. Then we here the sound, the sound of the enemy, its Metal Face, insulting Lucus, and just as he's about to be killed, shulk comes in and counters with his sword, saving lucus "Shulk [insert other thing]" ~Cue game play~ its revealed Metal Face is a boss.

Post gameplay skit is Lucus and Shulk talking, maybe Shulks trying to calm Lucus down.

It could be that Shulk isn't playable, but is an AT, and Sakurai isn't showing anything Xenoblade related that would confirm this because he's afraid of the backlash from the Xenoblade fanbase. The same reason's why he isn't confirming Ridley as a Boss or showing Issac as an AT. Sounds a bit silly though, and I hope it isn't the case.

You could use that argument for every unannounced newcomer though.

No more newcomers because whoever hasn't yet been announced is an AT or stage hazard but Sakurai is just too afraid to deconfirm them because of the backlash.

True, but Shulk is one of the top requested, along with Isaac, and Ridley.

NOTHING about Xenoblade has been teased, it's like Sakurai is keeping quiet about Xenoblade and by doing so is hoping it'll all slide under the rug. It's strange that he would keep Xenoblade fans in a state ofwondering if Shulk is playable right up until the 3DS release, and not throw us a bone. It's really not looking good for him I don't think, plus they're really pushing the roster they have now. I can't imagine a Shulk challenger intro video since Nintendo is a very conservative company, too.

But what he's saying is that you could say the same about Custom Robo or Duck Hunt or something

Agreed with Sabrewulf, but also 'afraid of the backlash' is not a concept he has to consider - when the game comes out it'll all be lt loose anyway. Whether he reveals the characters before or after release, there will be the same 'backlash'.

Sakurai's afraid of backlash? The only thing that matters is the end result which is when the game comes out and how much money it prints but the outcome is pretty much sealed already since it's Smash Bros we're talking about. As of now, the game already has gained high levels of hype and we aren't even finished revealing all the characters

Anyway 101 on Sakurai: He feasts on confusion. Probably should be obvious by now.

Then again, as likely or locked in Shulk may seem, always stay cautious.

For all we know, the trailer might show Shulk lying on the ground from being wrekt by Ganondorf then it turns out that Seven is the newcomer.

Yeah, Sakurai doesn't have to care about backlash. What is there to be afraid of? Loss of sales? What kind of messed up person is going to go "Here's this great game, but _____ isn't playable so I'm not going to buy it"? The game moves huge numbers so there's no reason to be concerned about one or two crazy 'fans'.

I think we haven't heard anything about Xenoblade because the series is yet to appear in Smash. It's something he'll want to keep secret, regardless of whether Shulk's in or not, since it'll have implications either way. I'm probably biased but I think the lack of info actually leans towards his inclusion.

How about the trailer opens in a courtroom with Professor Layton at the defendant's table and Phoenix Wright standing up, going through his evidence. In the jury are the Chorus Boys, and sitting in the audience are the confirmed characters with Falco, Jigglypuff, Game and Watch and Ice Climbers hidden at the back, as well as two empty seats labeled "K. Rool" and "Mewtwo". The doors open and Shulk walks in, then goes and sits next to Professor Layton.

What follows is a 30-minute trial accusing Shulk of destroying Meta Ridley and ruining his chances of making it into the game, with witnesses like Metal Face, Alvis and a random Nopon all arguing for and against. At the end, the judge (who is revealed to be Ganondorf) shouts "Screw this, let's fight!" and all hell breaks loose.

I don't think Shulk will get the Chrom or Takamaru treatment. There's already been enough outside hints of him being in as playable, such as Sakurai retweeting that Monado picture. Plus I'm pretty sure Sakurai just couldn't see much moveset potential with Takamaru or Chrom. Shulk, on the other hand...

So, Press Start was formed in 2006, by conductor Taizo Takemoto, game designer Masahiro Sakurai, scenario writer Kazushige Nojima and composers Nobuo Uematsu and Shogo Sakai. It's cool to know that Sakurai wasn't just a spectator at the event, and it sounds like he's one of its curators.

That raises Shulk's chances... a bit more?
