Hey guys, what would be the best way to unlock Shulk? I don't see him as a starter character, but that would be nice.

Possibly clearing target test fast enough, like level 1 in under 30 seconds. That or fight 50 matches. 50 just so we could get him quickly.

I don't remember, were there unlocks for using certain moves/actions in the previous games? It could be neat if you needed to dodge or counter X amount of times as a nod to his future-sight. There are tons of characters with counters so you'd have some variety.

Course, I would take it straight to training with 2 controllers or a friend, and spam counters

Many of us relied to the leak but Shulk has more going for him that just the leak, but I guest that Chorm's voice actor tweeting that he was doing no voice work for smash should have be a giveaway that the leak was wrong but whatever, also I'm a little worried Isaac getting in because Robin and Isaac share the same name in japan.

No they don't, Robin's Japanese name is Reflet. This has nothing to do with Shulk, either.


I think its highly likely both Isaac and Shulk are playable. Both can bring something quite new and different to the table. I'm not worried.

Was about to post something like that, but, yeah. Robin, Isaac, Shulk can co-exist. It's just up to Sakurai if he wants all of them in.

Oh it doesn't mean that! I don't think every character revealed in a trailer will be unlocked at the start! We might still have to unlock Sonic, Pac-Man and Mega Man. I'm guessing we'll have to.

Hey, fellow Xenoblade fans! I literally just joined, but I've been reading this thead for awhile now. I just felt the mighty need to support Shulk, so I just had to sign up. This is only my second post too. I've got a few other characters to support, but Shulk is absolutely first on my list.

But this game is critically acclaimed, so it would be good for Nintendo to recognize it. It could be a, let's say, a Ness situation. He has also been in 1 game, but that game was popular (especially in Japan, same for Xenoblade's case) so he was included in the original Smash.
And yes, a reason for Shulk's inclusion is because Xenoblade is now a new Nintendo franchise with the announced sequel slated for 2015.

It's true that it's critically acclaimed, I myself love the game. Though I think if he's gonna get in he needs to represent all the Xeno ralted games and not just his own.

He actually doesn't need to, though. Just Xenoblade itself. Because that is just what Nintendo owns. Xenogears and Xenosaga is irrelevant because they are 3rd party titles. (even though they are by Monolithsoft)

I disagree with Shulk doesn't deseve a spot because he only had one game but Pit had only one game and got in brawl, Ness had one game and got in Smash 64, so why not Shulk.

I've seen a lot of people discuss on wanting Shulk's monado arts be his Final Smash but personally I want them as his special moves if he gets in. His Final Smash would be cooler if it was the triangle chain attack but that might be too complicated to implement so many characters.

Actually Pit had two, however the second one is considered non-canonical due to never being released in Japan. (Kid Icarus: of Myths and Monsters for the Game Boy.)

Ness wasn't in the first game in his series. Ice Climbers only had one game, and Lucina and Robin have both only ever been in one game. The same game, at that. So of coure the "one game" thing ain't gonna stop Monado Boy!

...Still only one appearance. The "too new, one game" is dumb anyway, because Lucas, Greninja, ICs, ROB and now Lucina+Robin.

I so did this when I first played Xenoblade... I wandered pointlessly around Colony 9 for hours, even swam through all the water, just marvelling at the gigantic world and trying to fill out the map... little did I know that there was a much quicker way of doing that...

Still, one of my best Xeno memories...
