Ah. Another one of these. If you played or looked into his game, you'd see he's MUCH more than what you're judging him by.
The game has to sell me on its merits, and 'cool anime scenes' just don't do anything for me. A great system and intuitive control scheme may be buried under there, but I'm just not willing to dig.
Also, how is Link/Toon Link "generic anime swordsman" when he doesn't even use a sword all the time?
When I say 'generic anime swordsman', I typically mean a dude that never seems to lose or get overwhelmed and always does implausible things. I was
really disappointed in Skyward Sword and basically lost all interest in the game at the point of the Race for the(I forget what it is, a statue or something, right?) Thing in Skyloft. I basically hung around on the island and sat there chatting with the NPCs for no-joke 15 REAL TIME minutes, and then spent another ten flying in the direct opposite of where the action was, and
still wound up narrowly clenching victory in a cutscene. That's
boring. I want to
fail. If Link had wound up losing that race and had to deal with the repercussions, or if the game had at least acknowledged it(and Zelda made a second paracloth whilst the camera wasn't looking), I would have been much more impressed and immersed. I'm
tired of infallible heroes. Same reason I lost interest in Skyrim the moment they said, 'You're the dragonborn.' I don't
want to be the chosen one, that makes my success predetermined and
lame. I want to be the yahoo that comes from left field and has maybe a 50/50 shot at
best of ridding the world of evil. The fact that it was
my triumph and not some prophecy's foreboding makes it sweeter, in my opinion.
Boy, I went on a ramble there. Anyway, I repeat my congratulations to the thread, hope you find him a worthy translation to the game.
