Shulk is wanted internationally. He is also one of the newest additions to the Nintendo family. There is no reason why he shouldn't get in.

Also, does anyone feel that Mac's Pink Sweatsuit being a legitimate alt costume gives any hope for Shulk having other armors as alts?

I really wanna see a Stellar Armor alt. Easily my favorite armor for Shulk aesthetically.

Just finished Valak Mountain in my second run, spoilers incoming:

I think I keep saying this but I forgot how amazing some of these cutscenes are. Even though I know what happens, the face-off with Mumkhar and Egil's first appearance still evoke the same feelings as if this were my first time through. Epic is an understatement. Psyched to get to some of those Empire Strikes Back esque end game cut scenes. Also looking forward to when Chugga reaches major cutscenes just to scan the comments for reactions.

Engage the Enemy works with literally everything. I cannot imagine how these scenes would go without it, especially since you hear the song zillions of times without it ever getting old. One thing that really irked me on the IGN review (when I used to go by reviews more) is that a negative on the game was repetitive music. However, everyone that has spoken about Xenoblade says music is one of its strong points.

I think the fanboy glasses blind us in this sort of thing... I'm almost certain that their complaint about the repetitive nature of the music is that certain pieces play quite a lot. Sure we might really like them so they don't bug us, but that doesn't make the complaint any less valid.

Recently my girlfriend started watching me do a second run-through of the game and she pointed this out, though in a more positive light, about either You Will Know Our Name or Engage the Enemy (I can't remember which) by saying "Oh my god I love this song, I'm glad they play it so often."

In the exact same way that Red does to Pokemon basically.

We can honestly consider Xenoblade a new series for Nintendo at this point, and Shulk holds the position of first protagonist. Even if he never gets a direct sequel, fans of the series aren't going to forget him just because new games come out.

It's pretty similar to Marth's situation back in Melee actually.

If we're being technical, he's probably going to matter for competitive Smash 4 for years to come, even if he doesn't appear in another one of his series' games.

However, we really can't say he won't anyway, since we don't know TOO much about the story of XCX. But play Xenoblade, or watch it, because it's amazing.

im sure someone will have said this before but wouldnt a chain attack work really well for a final smash

think about itd be the kind where you trap your opponents then shulk would strike, then another charterer would appear and attack and then some one else and then that button indicator thing would appear (you know that one that lets continue the chain attack) if you dont do it right that shulk simply attacks again but if you do get it right then shulk unleashes monado buster sending them flying

He will probably matter as time goes comes by as the iconic protagonist of the Xeno series.

I can see Shulk being the Marth of Xenoblade. Where he's only the main character of the first game (Marth was also the MC in the third one but whatever) but he's the most iconic and recognizable.

I just can't wait for Smash 9 where we will have a 200 page thread dedicated to Xenoblade.
