Xenoblade Chronicles is definitely going to be a brand new series for Nintendo in the future. I would view Shulk as Xenoblade's Marth or Pikachu; if he gets in, I doubt that he would ever get cut since he would be iconic to the franchise at that point.
I just can't wait for Smash 9 where we will have a 200 page thread dedicated to Xenoblade. [/q
Yep. at this point, Shulk is pretty much the poster boy of Xenoblade. and he will remain that way for years to come.In the exact same way that Red does to Pokemon basically.
We can honestly consider Xenoblade a new series for Nintendo at this point, and Shulk holds the position of first protagonist. Even if he never gets a direct sequel, fans of the series aren't going to forget him just because new games come out.
It's pretty similar to Marth's situation back in Melee actually.
I've only ever seen two people who didn't particularly care for the game. One was a reviewer that was purposefully trying to nitpick and magnify the faults, and completely ignore the good points, and another person in the comments on one of Chugga's videos for Xenoblade who actually seemed genuine in their opinion and wanted to hold an intelligent discussion about the game (I guess they didn't like just how big the game was and felt there wasn't much to do while walking around, oh well). Other than that, I haven't seen anyone.I'm curious, is there anyone who played Xenoblade and didn't like/love it? It seems that a lot of the people who don't want Shulk in are judging him based on appearance and haven't actually played the game. I can't imagine, but is there anybody who has played the game and still doesn't want Shulk in?
One of my friends has this opinion, but that's only because he liked The Last Story more than Xenoblade so he wants Zael instead.I'm curious, is there anyone who played Xenoblade and didn't like/love it? There are a lot of people like that mainly due to the issues present in Xenoblade rather than Shulk as a character. They tend to blame the game rather than themselves based on their interest. Like, people will say they don't like MMORPG combat, yet they'll criticize Xenoblade's battle system like it's actually bad and not their distaste on said combat. It doesn't make sense much considering they're subjectively criticizing it rather than objectively.I'm curious, is there anyone who played Xenoblade and didn't like/love it? Add me to the supporters list, please.
I'm always willing to show my support for Shulk. Picked up Xenoblade day 1 in US and never regretted it.
I wish I could like this more than once. I couldn't agree more about Shulk's inclusion being one of the most important this time around, just because of the relationship Nintendo and MSoft have been building. There are a lot of people like that mainly due to the issues present in Xenoblade rather than Shulk as a character. However, and again, I do wish the non-supporters can think of the potential relationship between Nintendo, Monolith Soft, and Xenoblade like I've been emphasizing in my previous posts. Some will argue about a character's inclusion solely for their own satisfaction and fulfillment rather than from, let's say, a business perspective, and I believe that Shulk's inclusion in Smash Bros. makes sense in both areas: to please the gamer's desires while also benefiting the company that desperately needs to expand their portfolio. Because you know, all Nintendo has is Mario and Zelda, from a non-Nintendo fan's perspective.
Furthermore, I've been seeing a lot of Nintendo Digital Event reactions on YouTube, and it just kills me when some people react apathetically to Xenoblade X's trailer. All the surprised reactions just come from the same games we've been playing for a long time. Everyone thought the trailer was Metroid, and I understand that since the gears-looking thing from the beginning looked straight-out of Metroid Prime Trilogy, but for me the chorus in the beginning already made it kind of obvious. The fact that some people's hype were deflated due to the game looking downgraded—even though it really wasn't—also saddens me. I just hope that, when Shulk gets in, it'll make a slight difference even if the series will forever be niche.
don't blame you I actually liked him tooYou know what? I actually like Xord for some reason. I should hate him for... You know, what happens in this video. But I don't. Maybe it's the accent?

You arrived with a joke about Cockney accents before me? How dare you!"Bu ei jus coodant halp meiself, EI ET DEM AWL UHP!"
That was a pain to type with auto correct
I like Xord as well. Maybe it's also because his accent makes him more intimidating in a way. Not so menacingly, but more so as a crazy, power (and Homs) hungry robot. You know what? yeah that's m\pretty much why out of all the face mechion I've seen so far (being only metal face and Xord) he sounds and acts insane and makes him more intimidating then metal face who feels more of a coward so far from what I seen always running offI like Xord as well. Maybe it's also because his accent makes him more intimidating in a way. Not so menacingly, but more so as a crazy, power (and Homs) hungry robot.
Well, you can't really blame them for reacting apathetically if they hadn't been following the game beforehand. It really wasn't the greatest trailer to get newcomers hooked, it was more meant for people who had already been following the game's progress and wanted to know more.Furthermore, I've been seeing a lot of Nintendo Digital Event reactions on YouTube, and it just kills me when some people react apathetically to Xenoblade X's trailer. True. Some people didn't like the anime nature of the cutscenes, so its reception became kind of divisive. The first two trailers were aiming for the western audience, and now the story trailer is going for the JRPG niche. That's not good marketing, honestly.Well, you can't really blame them for reacting apathetically if they hadn't been following the game beforehand. The pictures in that article have a spoilerWhat those Monado Symbols mean, a link that translates the text if anybody is interested:

Interesting. It could just be their Kyoto team assisting on other games, though. o.oThe 74th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders Q & A said:Investor: I would like to ask about the lineup for Wii U software. For Wii, a few games like “Xenoblade” and “Zangeki no Reginleiv” (Japanese title), which provide more immersive experiences when played alone, rather than when played with your friends and family in the living room, were released in a row. However, there are no games like those ones for Wii U. Has the policy changed for Wii U? Regarding the type of games that you play by yourself, I know there are plans for the release of the sequels to “Xenoblade” and “Bayonetta 2,” but it has been two years since the Wii U was launched, and I would like to hear an explanation for this blank period.
Shinya Takahashi: Regarding your question on the lateness of Wii U titles for advanced game players, you are absolutely correct. However, at E3 this year, we announced “Xenoblade Chronicles X,” which is being developed under Mr. Tetsuya Takahashi from MONOLITH SOFTWARE INC. I hope you will think of this game as one in the “Xenoblade” series, not a sequel to “Xenoblade” for Wii. We are planning to announce details of this software’s content through various channels. Also, we announced “Devil’s Third” (temp.), which is being developed under Tomonobu Itagaki from Valhalla Game Studios Co., Ltd. The announcement of these titles may have been late, but I hope consumers will be able enjoy software titles like these ones from now on.
Shigeru Miyamoto: As Mr. Takahashi previously said, our subsidiary, MONOLITH SOFTWARE INC., is working on several projects, and PlatinumGames Inc. has announced two titles for the “Bayonetta” series. It took time, but we are now able to develop software suitable for Wii U, and we would like to release new titles from now on.
