Anyways...there's something happening on the 8th right?

Please tell me something is going down on the 8th.

HOLY SH*T. I just realized December 3rd is Monday!
I'm actually kind of glad they delayed the game...

Nobody is going to quote that whole peice of **** "LOLOL" and 'lol....no' it..... thats absurd.
no, Nate, it's not absurd. This is the internet. So in all fairness, take relativity into account, and you'll see that it's quite normal. Ever been to 4chan? I'll tell you what's really absurd, and this isn't directed towards you, don't worry. It's towards the people who support the cookie cutter theory.

So like, I never intended that to be a public announcement or anything, but while I'm on the topic, I may as well explain why this game blows so much. You guys remember the cookie cutter theory? That everyone who plays high tiers is the same and our accomplishments are belittled because high tiers are too easy too win with. You know what cookie cutter theorists? **** you. Let's pretend that I don't have self esteem issues as it is, and that idea still really pisses me off. I mean, it was funny once but when you made it clear that you were dead serious about it, it became offensive. And wtf is this **** about having to be unique with the game? Are you ****ing kidding me? How the **** are we supposed to be unique with a set of 21 moves? I mean, with 3 billion chemical combinations in our bodies, that's a whole different story. The possible uniquities are endless. But 21 moves? It's just bull****. Bull**** aside, if you were insinuating that we should use different moves at a different time then someone else does, that's stupid, because there's a time when a certain move works best. I hope for the sake of your intellectual reputation that I was reading too deeply into that. And as for characters, well...it's simple. Mewtwo isn't fun to play with. Pichu isn't fun to play with. Fox is, because he's fast and kicks ***. The reason so many people play Fox is simple: it's because he's good, and if the way you try to differentiate yourselves from others is by picking a worse character, such as Ganondorf, then you're just stupid. Can any of you cookie cutter theorists explain to me why all of us (the cookies) consistently kick your asses? And on that note, people who kick *** all the time: just because someone isn't as good as you doesn't mean they're not good. You're just better. And if you can't understand that then you're stupid. Anyway, cookie cutter people? You suck. You ruined the game for me and your relentless, persisting arguments about why Fox is unfair (grow up) have caused me to associate the game with failure, which is what I do with everything else in my life anyway. I'm not gonna bother with the sarcasm; **** you, **** you to oblivion, and **** you to the ****ation of mankind.

edit: I see Grmo shares my sentiments on characters.

Although I am of the opinion that if you truly have fun with an underused character then playing them isn't a bad thing provided you realize that you hurt your chances of winning by playing them...

edit2: trying to be unique for the sake of being unique is lol.

was anyone listening to what i said about playing the same game ? god my posts are going unnoticed again and i will need to spam... Lol ok I'm joking but if you guys at least attempted to play other games maybe smash wouldn't suck so much for grmo =[, you guys need some diversity in your gaming , playing smash all the time wont make you better in smash because your mind gets tired of the same stimuli all the time. Go grmo I'm all with you about how much smash can suck , because no1 cares about diversity , because frankly diversity means nothing in smash, and to be absolutely honest, smash has to be small time compared to other games www.thecpl.com , www.worldcybergames.com , I don't see smash at these big tournaments at all , everyone i've know to be a pro gamer knows about these events and trys there best to compete at them, know why games like smash aren't at these events a and something like tiger woods pga golf tour would be ? because at least that community gets together and says WE WANT THIS GAME TO BE PLAYED. Don't try and tell me mlg is big either I havent heard about mlg until I met someone in smash, and trying to find people to play smash is almost impossible. I've already tried to open up the community by trying to run a gaming league, but all of you are skeptics and are afraid of trying something new. So if i were to have some diversity at my event most of you wouldn't show up, plain and simple, but if it was stickly smash most of you would come running to this. If you've been listening to what i've been saying about muscle memory and grmo's rant about how bad smash actually is you'd understand or you can all be dogmatic about this and tell me the smash community is fine and doesnt need a change, well to those people enjoy playing in your mothers basement untill you wake up and relize you were wrong. Seriously people wake up and relize that playing another game and opening up your options is GOOD for a community.

You say you want a revolution
Well, you know
We all want to change the world
You tell me that it's evolution
Well, you know
We all want to change the world
But when you talk about destruction
Don't you know that you can count me out
Don't you know it's gonna be all right
all right, all right

You say you got a real solution
Well, you know
We'd all love to see the plan
You ask me for a contribution
Well, you know
We're doing what we can
But when you want money
for people with minds that hate
All I can tell is brother you have to wait
Don't you know it's gonna be all right
all right, all right
Ah

ah, ah, ah, ah, ah...

You say you'll change the constitution
Well, you know
We all want to change your head
You tell me it's the institution
Well, you know
You better free you mind instead
But if you go carrying pictures of chairman Mao
You ain't going to make it with anyone anyhow
Don't you know it's gonna be all right
all right, all right
all right, all right, all right
all right, all right, all right

I'm gonna agree with efex on this one, people who play at EVO play a whole bunch of different games, and some players place top in a bunch of them. Granted, there all fighting games, but it's still different.

P.S anyone know where I can find a arcade stick for the wii? I can't order them off the net, and I wanna play Guilty Gear =(

There's nothing wrong with playing another game. I'll do it. I've done it, and I'll do it again. I played Mortal Kombat with Marco at his place and I'm getting Guilty Gear XX Accent Core for my Wii. I actually think that playing other fighters will HELP your smash game overall just like how playing different characters will help your smash game overall with matchups.

Playing different characters = help with matchups because you get a better understanding of how the character is played and what you need to do to beat that character

Playing different fighters = help you with overall mindgames allowing you to broaden your horizons and helps you to think outside the box when coming back to smash so that you're more unpredictable and just make you better overall because of it.

Muscle Memory doesn't fade very easily. If you go a day, a week, or even a month without playing smash you'll still be able to pick up where you left off pretty easily within a day or 2 of playing. In a technical aspect anyway. You'd need to have to leave smash for at least a couple years STRAIGHT before you lost actual muscle memory in your hands for when you play technically, and even by then you'd need a fraction of the time you spent NOT playing smash to get your technical skill back because the muscle memory is still there from playing smash for so long. I'm sure no one I know has gone 2 years without playing smash so I don't know what other people are complaining about.

From a technical standpoint playing other games does not impede on your smash gameplay (in fact it helps you).

From a psychological standpoint playing other games could make you worse at smash but, then all that's happening is that you're making yourself worse on purpose because you think that playing other games will make you worse (a.k.a. it's all in your head).

get a bank account and use paypal its really easy and quick and you could probably find one off ebay

Oh stfu, seriously. Nobody gives a ****.
I dont even know wtf you're still doing on smashboards.

I came from the 2d fighter community so dont tell me about how other games are, I played all of them, and the reality is a game like mvc2 will not help with your 3S game unless you're a ****ing idiot who cant play fighting games, otherwise it isn't transferable..... and those are BOTH 2d fighters. None of those games will do anything for your smash game.

I got a Soul Calibur 2 stick, with PS2, GCN, and XBox hook-ups on it.

It doesn't work for Wii GGXXAC. It just doesn't respond to anything atall when you plug it into it. If you want to use it a stick with GG, you probably need a PS2.

Plus you peoples gotta play some other games like;
CONTINUUM,
Super Mario Games,
Super Metroid,
Guilty Gear,
Street Fighter,
etc...

I old games are great for tech skill I find, and Continuum is kick ***. :D

Oh I'm sorry since i still do play smash,so i do believe I'm entitled to my opinion whether or not you'd like to hear it. Cause according to what your saying you cant bring anything from another game to one your currently playing. So I'll give you some big examples, quake players that goto counter strike, star craft players that goto cnc3, even people who play mmo's bring something from the last one to the next.
all games train your reflexes you ******, and who says mvc2 will help you in smash it might if you learn something new that you can bring to the game , Do you not read what I'm trying to say or your just another ignorant prick ? ALL GAMES TRAIN YOUR REFLEX'S , taking a break to play another game is good so your mind doesn't get tired of the same bull**** over and over again. And saying you cant bring something from one game to another game is ******** , because I'm sorry to say this but all fighting games are the same, its who has the better technical skill and pressure game. So learning how to dodge and block cant help you in other games ? I'm not excepting to see someone pull a syuriken out of there *** in smash but seriously there are things you can learn from other games and bring to another one if not directly then indirectly , like new mind games or better timing because your used to a faster paced game. So your saying you should only learn whats been coming from the smash community right ? Well then you can stick with your dogmatic playing styles and not be creative with what you do.

I'm not whining about you playing smash all the time, this all started cause i wanted to come play a little bit of gg at matts house when this whole thing was rescheduled then you get into the fact that other games ruin smash and yada. If someone gave me the simple answer that "there werent enough tv" i would have been pleased simple as that.

nate it may not do any help for ur smash game but it def. doesnt hurt it. i play a lot of 2d fighters too. ur arguements not that good, if anything playing other games will help ur reflexes along with better knowledge of how 2d game mechanics work. \its like fps's. a lot of ideas/strategies/technique ideas/more for halo came from other pc fps.

and like matt said playing any game can help strengthen ur muscle memory.

i agree. gaming diversity ftw. Smash tournies can be quite narrow minded. (u know what i mean.)

edit: nvm matt beat me too it. and he worded it a lot better.

well at least someone isnt dogmatic about this topic =] , like if i wanna hold a tournament for smash halo 3 and other games how many of you would actually go out and play these other games for fun , and not just stand back and watch ?

more whining
Ugh, your arguement is so rediculous right from the start.

Sure all games train your reflexes. But how do you get good at a particular game?
You practise THAT game.
As I said earlier, the only way playing one fighting game will DIRECTLY help your game in another is if you're a noob to the metagame. Even then it still doesn't help you as much as playing the ACTUAL game would...
So you're on smashboards..... we're here to play SMASH if you didn't get the idea.

Do you go to a golf tournament and say " hey guys how about we have a basketball section at the next tour? And plus it'd help with golf because liek if you're moving your body you're obviously getting exercise and thats good for all sports right?"

You're the one whining, stop the whining.
We all play other games obviously, but these are smash tournaments.

I just want a stick for fighters that come out of the wii, and virtual console games....The only fighter on GC I'd want to play is Capcom Vs Snk 2 (I don't really like soul caliber that much). Is there even any other fighters on the wii other then GG?

I don't have a ps2, so those are pretty much the only fighters accessible to me ( I wish I could have Marvel vs Capcom 2 =( )

So then why is it when i mention another game your willing to burn me at the stake for it ?
I'm comparing similar games here, Fighters , i'm not saying "HEY GUYS LETS PLAY COUNTER STRIKE IT'LL MAKE YOUR WRIST MOVE FASTERS AND YOU CAN CLICK BUTTONS ?" You realize you learn faster when you introduce yourself to different stimuli ? By playing the same game repeatedly YOU SLOW DOWN YOUR MIND, your mind gets tired of the same **** over and over again , if you wanna learn more its more beneficial to go out and pick up something new to jog your mind and get it going again. If you think playing smash and only smash is going to make you great at the game think again, sooner or later your mind is going to stop you from learning new things and your going to plateau. So that being said dont compare basketball to golf those are completely different sports, thats like comparing pool to ice hockey. I didnt say fighters to FPS or fighters to RTS ? So you trying to tell me having better reflexes wont help you with smash ? So comon give me solid proof that having better reflexes wont help you in smash ? if you go from mvc2 since the gameplay is ALOT faster then smash your telling me those reflexes wont help you master tech skill ? think about what your saying befor you start to write about your dogmatic views.

Also this being smash boards does it restrict me to only talking about smash ? No i believe these boards were made to talk and discuss ideas that may or may not pertain to smash, so if someone in the community wants to ask about something else they should be criticized for it ? Also all the other SMASH events I asked whoever was holding the event if it was possible to bring ggac to play I didn't go "GAY WHY DO YOU PLAY SMASH I WANT GG" in fact i didn't complain at all, this past event was not labeled as a smash fest so thats why i asked if gg was possible , so don't heckle me for asking to play gg at that event.

ok ok people just stop. This all started from him asking if we can have a little GGXXAC section.

you play one game you get good at it, the general skills transfer over but not the exact skills needed for the game. That's what it is, no different, now stfu

I think a GGXXAC section is fine, just as long as the people who want to play bring their own TV's for the game, and those are the only tv's being used for it. That's it ok? stop talking about it.

I got into the fact "that other games ruin smash and yada"? Please, show me the post where I said anything about other games ruining Smash. I only said that we needed the time to practice Smash because we have a major tourney coming up this weekend.
