ya im gunna start getting into melee (ebben tho its the worst time to(its been what like 6 years since its been released?)) but probably wont go to any tournys for another over 9000 years.
Besides i raep brawl already Pshaw.
DISCLAIMER
brawl raep is not a guarantee

totally off topic who would u guise wanna see in brawl or the next smash game?
i vote paper mario
srsly young link / link
dr mario / mario
link / toon link

one more wouldnt matter much rite? >.>
geno. if geno were in brawl i'd play it much more. unless he was boring like sonic. i was gonna main sonic until i found out all his moves were so similar.

cool, come to smashfests whenever you can =) and stos is right, learn to l-cancel, or rather, make it instinctive to l-cancel. it's WAY more important than waveanything. the speed and comboing aspects of melee depend entirely on it...that one technique is pretty much why melee is so crazy =P

edit: oh yeah, and MEGAMAN
and kirby just swallowing megaman would be the new black hole glitch.

having knowledge of the game and knowing what moves to do is infinitely more important than actual tech skill

david: is this what you were talking about?

http://www.new.facebook.com/group.p...0728cac21bd0dc29f94a51250dd01b&gid=5387908980

if not it sounds interesting anyway.

edit: i might be free thursday...
Yeah, that's the event. I managed to secure another room strictly for competitive play, the main room is casual Brawl FFAs :urg:, I can just do that around my neighbourhood if I really wanted to. I'm bringing a Gamecube as well, the TVs should be there if this guy pulls through, he said it'd be easy.

^ okay, i'll probably go to that. it'd be a good idea to post info in here...especially in this thread, if you can wade through the spam. and if i do go i can at the least bring melee, without a memory card. so when's the first date? hi, by the way.

edit: whoa, 301 posts. i missed a milestone just now. it was in grmo's tournament thread though. POST A DATE GRMO

Yeah Mango's good, and it's hard to win tournies with Jiggs cause people play hard vs. her (aka they out camp Jiggs >_> cause some basically all Jiggs mains play super campy then ***** about people camping back X.X) but her play style doesn't really between cast members. Sometimes a move or 2 adds to the list lol

It's not like any character changes playstyles utterly and completely in any given matchup. Good moves are still good moves. Please stop over simplifying matchups, especially the Jiggs ones.

But Jiggs really doesn't have a lot to work with in terms of good move diversity. I play Jiggs myself, especially recently I've been using her a lot. A lot of characters change their play style based on the match up. Especially in some dittos.

I think you have to seperate good from situational. Marth's dash attack for instance isn't the greatest move, but it can be used to follow DI from throws to setup more combos. Doesn't mean you go throwing it out as much as your Fair. Moves like jiggs D/Usmash, Utilt (which you oddly didn't mention given how much you spam it), Uair (ditto) and running attach (just to name a few... technically I could just rattle off her entire move set) are simply more specialized attacks. If that means you don't use them on the basis that they aren't all around good moves, than you are limiting all sorts of possibilities.

And I bet if you name a ditto I can oversimplify the situation so the character plays the same.

Honestly, what else is Jiggs going to do that is going to be more effective? Bair, rest, shield and nair are staple moves, auto-implemented in every match-up.

Jake: Fox is has a much higher learning curve. Try failing at tech skill for 2 years, losing constantly - then finally getting pretty technical but still not winning anything. Thats what the majority of Foxes go through.

I spam dash attack in the Marth ditto... either as much, or slightly less then grab. It's amazingly broken in the match up, but not so much elsewhere.
My Jiggs like barely u-tilts. I just try to n-air into something or if I'm facing like Peach or Pika b-air spam trap them in shield so they're screwed. I also spam forward smash randomly even though it isn't that good and I should just n-air or b-air in those scenarios. I do like her forward smash, but I don't think it's that good.

Vaguely difficult to land a u-air on something that isn't a fast faller usually... even then it's hard, and really early it stops working on everyone else except Sheik/Roy/Link kinda. But I do accept the merits of falling u-air, I'm just usually not in that situation cause I try to stay low to the ground where I can n-air and where my priority is.

There are definately situations where Fsmash is a better option than bair/nair. It kills, at far lower percents than any aerial, and has a larger hitbox that beats jump ins coming towards you.

Sure, but they aren't the *only* moves she uses. And I already listed some moves that are better options than the listed staples in certain regards. For example, if you also used your Utilt/Uair vs fast fallers, it's gonna get you more rests overall than just nair and shield camping alone.

bernard:

fox is inherently a better character, so it doesnt matter if you have a higher learning curve, the fact is he's just broken, so you have that foot up at every level of play, and while your tech skill gets higher he just gets more and more broken.

with jiggs you have to play super smart or you die at 70, lol, and to who? fox, who's best killing move is a combo finisher.. lol

jiggs isnt easy to play as whatsoever, her best move is incredibly situational and even when you time it properly youre still a sitting duck for hours

LOL at reading everyone else speculating about Jiggs. =D

Besides the basic spammed moves already mentioned (bair, nair fair) everything else is situational. (Just like every character in the game omgz)

You guys forgot uair though, which is basically jigg's most reliable rest setup. (Shielding requires your opponent to screw up.)

"Easy to play" is an incredibly ambiguous and relative term. Easy to perform the motions/manuevers in which Jigg's gains victory? Yes

Easy to actually attain victory against competent tournament players? No

jiggs is pretty broken when the opponent plays bad
If I was a noobert i'd rather face a jiggs that knew how to rest than a Fox that knew how to shinespike. Which is more reliable?

obviously shine spikes are lol

waaay more broken against teh nub mcgubs

edit: lol the fact that you guys have played melee for so long and are still trying to argue that jiggs is gayer than fox is ridiculous lmao eh nate?

wtf when did i say puff is gayer than fox o_O

puff can't laser camp you

puff doesn't have the ultra broken dash dance game

puff doesn't have the ultra broken speed

puff doesn't have guaranteed combos out of throw (except on fast fallers)

puff doesn't have a shine

puff doesn't have spammable vertical ko moves

all i implied was that when you mess up vs puff you tend to die. fox's combos you can like di and stuff after the initial screw-up. try diing puff's rest after like 15% lawl.

if i play a good puff when i'm playing bad i tend to be nervous. puff ***** dumb mistakes like nobody else. although people will scream "shine spike" as an instant-death, shine spikes only happen at the edge. puff's rest will kill you at the edge, at center stage, on a platform, etc. and the only condition is that you have, what, 15%? less depending on the stage?

that's the most accurate part yet.

yeah, no one said that, but he already addressed it. besides, it's melee, everyone is broken =D ice climbers can reliably kill anyone from one grab and they're mid tier.

I know Fox is gayer. David named so many things I was thinking of typing. The camping+speed alone makes him more broken. I've seen with my own two eyes the camping that ensues when mediocre players try to win with Fox, and actually do - against better players.

As a Fox player, its only natural to hate a character that kills you instantly if you miss an lcancel, aerial or grab.

Beeble: While I don't deny that Jiggs has other sort-of viable moves, the staple moves I mentioned are still applicable in every single match-up. There is room for creativity with Jiggs, its just that we never see much of it because of game-breaking moves like Rest...

Rest..

uthrow...

and rest.

srsly, I think that's the first time I've seen someone complain about freaking jigglypuff lol. like, the game has been out for seven years, I don't know why there was suddenly a jpuff post here, but wow lol
