I don't want to discredit his win or anything, but the only reason he won was because M2K wasn't there
what? how is that the only reason he won lmao. Gnes wouldve probably beat him so I dont understand how that means anything.

you mustve forgot m2k sucks vs diddy

You mean "Can't, would of, couldn't". Right?
Why yes. Yes, I did. Thanks for the correction~~. :) <3

M2K vs Diddy = 25:75 or 20:80? Anyone? :awesome:

I honestly don't know anything about M2K other than he's da bess and he mains MK. Oh and ADHD > M2K.

That's honestly like the equivalent of saying Kobe's gotten his past rings only because Michael Jordan retired. M2K and ADHD being good at the game doesn't mean reality shifts around them, both of them could have gone and Gnes could have still beaten them simply because it was Gnes' day. MLG, just like any competitive outlet isn't necessarily about who is the best period, it's about who's playing the best come tournament time. Gnes just had the fortitude and fortune to have his time be at Nationals and he reaped the benefits.

lol. Martyr...your posts are pleasant to read. You made this newbie here post his first post just to say that. :p

On-topic-wise, I'm still basking in the hope and inspiration Gnes had given the non-MK players. :bee: </cheese>

I think it's funny how people make M2K's absence into such a big deal. Let's not forget what his bracket would've looked like. Gnes faced Fatal, who was 8th seed. He then went on to defeat Ally, who was 1st seed. Now, had ADHD and M2K been allowed to compete, the 8th seed would have been Rich Brown. Yes, that's right...M2K's first match would have been the winner of Gnes vs. Rich Brown. I mean really, his two nightmare matchups? There's very little chance he could have won that. On top of that, the losers of Gnes/Rich Brown and ADHD/Ally would have been waiting in the loser's bracket to face him later on. Add in the potential for other players who have beaten him recently (Fatal) or come close (ESAM) to cause upsets, and you'll begin to see how small his odds of attaining the 1st place spot would have been.

Thanks everyone for your congrats.

It means alot, like really ^_^

Also i dont really care about the speculation with adhd/m2k, i honestly believe everyone had a chance to win, no matter who they were, its all about who's playing better when it counts.

It would have been completely different with atomsk, and fatal having to join the open bracket. So the open bracket seeds would have probably been different as well.

How is what Ballistics said unreasonable at all? If you put the #1 player in the world in the tournament, he will probably win. I didn't know that was such a controversial statement.

If I were Gnes I would be somewhat upset. Evidently he was playing extremely well and he didn't get to play against the #1 player in the world. Although the $12500 might make him feel better.

Seeding isn't arbitrary. #1 seeds are #1 seeds because they have the highest chance to place as #1. This isn't complicated.

Congrats to Gnes though, well done. (Hopefully that doesn't come across as sarcastic. Seriously, congrats.)

It's not so much unreasonable as much as it seems rude. Come on, it's pretty much a "lol M2K would of whooped yo *** if he was there" john when we're supposed to give our grats to someone who worked hard to get 1st place (pretty sure he worked hard, anyway). Dampering on someone's victory isn't cool. :(

That's definitely true, it's not the most polite thing to say. But people were saying that it was actually wrong, which is not the case.

Also, based on the post just below yours saying "Gnes is a God", in a thread which is all about how good Gnes is, I don't think we need to be too concerned about not enough congratulations for him. His self esteem isn't going down any time soon.

Congrats again though Gnes, well done. Diddy is broekn, ban him.

M2K and ADHD not being there is no reason to discredit Gnes... dropped 1 game all day. Had Gnes met M2K in bracket I wouldn't be surprised to see Gnes continue his sweep, M2K isn't the best at the matchup. Never had the feeling that ADHD is that consistent either.

I voted for Gnes winning when he only had 8 votes for winning at AiB. Just goes to show how great his playstyle and skills are.

Zhuuu you should pick up brawl if you're getting bored of melee. It's actually pretty fun depending on how you play and the characters you play, it's just not fun at first because it feels like you can't move lmao. It also makes melee more fun and makes you think of different stuff than the normal melee stuff. I have a lot of fun playing both, more fun than playing just either one of them I think.

If not, oh well. You are one of the only reasons I still play/watch melee lol. I love your aggressive/technical falco style,

mmm, Melee is getting stale only because I've been playing a really long time and have accomplished most of the goals that I set for myself. That said, I don't think I could commit to picking up another game, cause of school and stuff. But yeah, Brawl is pretty refreshing. I remember going to the Brawl room at Apex and playing friendlies with random people. I think Falco fits me the best, he has a lot of the things Melee Falco had + a Marth cg LOL, can't complain there.

Brawl is really frustrating at first because my approach to smash is to just react to everything (never do anything preemptively). A lot of the defensive stuff (rolling / spot dodging) are really ****ing fast, and the attacks are just barely too slow and I end up missing a bunch of stuff cause of that LOOOOOOOOOOOL. Maybe I'm just too slow or something / should just wait more...

And yeah thanks. I try to keep an aggressive style, but people these days are too good, so I've fallen to the campier side unfortunately =( Watch pp for the smart aggro =D
