I'm so happy w/ ghost noc now. Not only is the trail the same color as his drape, it also has little ghost faces coming out of it, haha.

While this article is full of "obvious" things, having it pointed it out to me in such a way really helps me appreciate it that much more.

oh man, how did i miss this article?

i'm guessing he posted that for me?

i do appreciate the effort to give me advice about solo queue, but at this point i'm just trying to find a reliable and painless way to gain elo and hoping that it doesn't take me 300 games to reach a decent elo, like it did last season.

that being said, i almost stopped reading when he started talking about the dunning-kruger effect (the #1 go-to syndrome of wannabe amateur psychologists like the author of that article, who ironically exhibit the DKE themselves) and then says that 98% of players would incorrectly answer ANY multiple choice question about game strategy. that's statistically impossible unless there are at least 50 options, or every question is an extreme trick question.

unfortunately, the most reliable way i have found so far to raising your elo is the one thing that i have a huge personal aversion to: playing overpowered heroes only. yeah it's stupid for me to not do so, but if i win with akali, graves, etc. then i personally feel like i'm abusing broken mechanics and bad game design.

this will probably be my last substantial post on the topic, since i've realized that it's not possible to convince others of my (statistically proven) bad luck, because it's something that one has to experience to believe. maybe i'll do better in premades once the swf lol tourney rolls around.

John if you're gonna consciously avoid using one of the best tools for climbing the ladder, I can't feel that sorry for you. EVEN if you don't feel "good" about using top tier stuff, if you're that frustrated/stricken with bad luck/tired of feeders, why not suck it up and steamroll through them until you get to a point where yes you can comfortably go whatever and have fun. If I have to get to 1700+ to be able to play Heimer without a team of ****in morons every 4/5 games, I will play Graves/someone else instead up to that point and then enjoy the game.

Play broken stuff, climb, play fun stuff that's not "bad", enjoy game? Formula for success? Now go my son, go play top tier monsters.

Just to point out an understanding error one of us is having here:

that being said, i almost stopped reading when he started talking about the dunning-kruger effect (the #1 go-to syndrome of wannabe amateur psychologists like the author of that article, who ironically exhibit the DKE themselves) and then says that 98% of players would incorrectly answer ANY multiple choice question about game strategy. that's statistically impossible unless there are at least 50 options, or every question is an extreme trick question.
*Dunning-Kruger effect, as he used it in this context, does seem appropriate for a reason why people don't get better at this game and don't realize that they can get better. He really doesn't mention it for the rest of the article. It made sense to me though, I dunno.

*98% Of players getting a question wrong = entirely possible. He is basically saying that if he gave a question to the entire body of LoL players, 98%( About every player below 1800 ELO) would get it wrong. That doesn't seem like such an impossibility to me.

This page really breaks down the thought processes and makes me feel better about decisions I make to push towers over helping dance around random team fights or something. Also never really looked at Baron that way.

i consider it a personal challenge ;) but i might do it anyways lol.

and you're mistaken if you think i want you to feel sorry for me. i mostly come here to vent.

but people get to high elo using all types of champions. if they can do it, then i want to do it too!

Those people also tend not to have the same kind of luck as you. Hence, you need to leverage yourself past that point so that you CAN be one of those 2K Blitzcrank players (lol Good Luck being as good as Double Lift, but that aside yes)

Use broken champs as the "stepping stone" to greatness. Not a crutch, a temporary solution for matchmaking failure. Yay

The most interesting thing in that article-ish thing I posted was the "Baron is a cool guy don't kill him" section. Also, there was someone who asked about whether to push or recall after a kill or forcing a recall like two weeks ago.

I somehow lost a game when I was 13/2 was Anivia at one point, because all the cool kids complain about solo queue

Either ***** yourself out like DMG is telling you, john, or find four people you can consistently play with to the extent where you can sacrifice using OP champs for weaker champs and still do well.

I'm hype for a LoL SWF tournament. My team'd get its *** kicked, but it'd be fun as hell. :applejack:

I think a SWF LoL tournament would boil down to 3-4 organized teams and then a bunch of random people tripping over each other.

Well as long as your not playing to win like some kinda jerk, the tripping over each other would be the fun part. :applejack:

Element's list ****ed up haha.
He had pantheon in tier 1 last one, now he's in tier 2 and he's noted no difference, lol.
It could be because he moved up like 20 champions. Lee Sin went from #3 to #12 or so, but he didn't change his rank.

What masteries should I run on jungle Noc? 21/0/9 seems logical, but the guide I'm looking at goes 16/0/14 to pick up the buff duration and flash masteries.

Oh man, normal mode junglers.

Olaf the 0/10/5 guy blaming the rest of the team for the loss. He also owned a skin for Olaf.

Why do people buy skins for champions they obviously have no idea how to play?

Why do you think buying a skin imply people are good with them?

I try to buy a skin for every champion I play, because I like to support riot.

Plus I need the skin advantage. I'm bad enough as it is.

Why is Thio questioning how people use their money? :applejack:
I simply dont understand why you'd by a champion skin for a champ you dont win with. Youd think that you would avoid that champ rather than play them.

side note: a pony avatar user I cant ignore. 8|

11-3-16 works quite well for me. Gets you that extra armor in the defense, while netting flash, buff, and movement in utility, and can grab through alacrity and sunder, which are good for Nocturne. He is kind of weak if you go for those early ganks and then try to return to your jungle for the first few levels, but this synergizes w/ pretty much everything he has (AS on passive, APen on damage, armor for a little survivability boost, movement for chasing/mobility, etc).

We should do the genesis Aus vs Texas team.

Myself, Zac, DMG, Dojo and someone else. Dphat was there but I don't think he got to play, haha.

Obviously having one ausralian is all the team needs for victory.

Son, there is a limit to how many Ds you can have on a team.

I'm very happy that there is hype. :] I will start it once I get the okay from the mods... I don't want to say too much but there is a reason why I am waiting.

Tom and pals ASSEMBLE!!!!!!!!
I'm not going to play in it because I'm going to be hosting it, but I'm sure the pals would do fine (read: place better) without me.

edit:
Tom: no dont pick blitz we already have leona. we need a ranged carry.
Blitz: MY FISTS ARE RANGED
