I completely understand if you can’t wait to play Smash but I feel obligated to remind people who haven’t bought a Switch yet to remember that the Wall Street Journal Japan leaked a new version of the Switch coming next year. So if you can wait, I understand if you can’t because I wouldn’t be able to, then wait.

"rising" is a stretch. We had two 2-character weeks in a row, and yes, that can potentially continue, it doesn't seem to have, and we might even see another 4-character week come up as well. I'd say roughly 3-5 is a good estimate, but it could easily go higher or lower depending on what happens.

Its probably not a "Pro" upgrade anyway. Its a small update at best, and it might even be phased in without warning (it could just be to redesign the insides a bit and fix the Tegra X1 exploit).

As

pholtos says the Rathalos tweet is key to consider that. If at the end Isaac is not in, that tweet will just be a giant "?" with no sense at all. Even if Isaac is in but in DLC, it would be weird if he tweeted that with so much time between it and the DLC announcement....

That tweet must mean something and what else could be if not Isaac? Why use that amount of time (setting the characters in that position, in that pose, with that enemy in that specific angle...) just to be a minor thing or even nothing?

Now I think about it, that image could have been taken using developer tools or ...maybe a trophy/pose mode in the "toy box"?

OH DEAR GOD! What happened here? Oh the 103 stage thing? Wouldn't worry about it. I really wouldn't.

Firstly, wasn't this the same magazine that promoted 108 and now they're saying 103? Sorry but even if that 2nd number is right, they are now unreliable. That is a fact.

Secondly even if it was 103 or 104, it changes nothing. A lot of our rivals are from returning franchises. And if Ridley and King K Rool didn't get a new stage, you can be sure as cement that Bandana Dee or Geno won't either. The only two who goes stages were Inkling and Simon. That speaks volume.

It's clear this time around new stages are for new franchises with Zelda and Mario obviously getting their slice of the cake. Pretty sure that is in a Smash rules list (To Sakurai - "MUST HAVE ZELDA AND MARIO STAGE")

Thirdly, Base game is half the battle. We had 1.5-2 years of DLC with this game. That is definitely going to happen with Switch. If anything, we've only done 7 months of a 2 year journey.

Finally, even if Isaac isn't in Smash Ultimate, who cares? He's now a Frontrunner! All it will take is one Smash Ballot after Ultimate and Isaac will get his spot. The Ballot worked for the ones so far due to awareness and popularity. Isaac has that now on a huge scale. Our fight is just beginning.

Yeah I just think it would be weird and almost unprecedented to have a newcomer from a new series without a stage. That hasn’t happened since Melee except for R.O.B. who is a weird case.

If 103 is the final stage count (which I don’t necessarily believe) I’d say Isaac is more likely to be DLC than to show up in base game without a stage. Not that I wouldn’t welcome the latter, just that I wouldn’t bet money on it being likely.

Actually it doesn't! Ness, Captain Falcon, Marth, Roy and R.O.B all had their franchises introduced without a stage. While it is plausible that newcomers these days will have a stage, that is not the gospel truth as for three generations of Smash that was not the case.

Also right now there are only a select few new stages (excluding the new Battlefield and Final Destination which is a staple in the series they get new ones)

Great Plateau Tower - Breath of the Wild
New Donk City - Super Mario Odyssey
Moray Towers - Inkling (new series)
Dracula's Castle - Simon (new series)

For a series that is known for having at least having a 75% chance of a new character having a stage, the number we have now is a really low percentage (at most 33.33% if you consider Daisy and New Donk City)

This means that the original 75%+ chance trend they had before Ultimate is broken. What this means is there is a higher concentrated rate of newcomers before a new stage is added. Pretty much the ratio is between a newcomer getting a new stage for their respective franchise is 3:1.

I really wouldn't worry guys. As this supposed 103 would put the squeeze on Banjo, Shantae, Rayman and many more. It would make no sense right now for them to block characters because of a stage count and I'm pretty sure they haven't. Not to mention there is already an unannounced Monster Hunter stage. There is no way it is just 103.

Monster Hunter stage looks a to be a large, featureless flat plane. It's most certainly a boss fight arena in some sort of single player. You can see the same thing during the Dracula fight.

Idk about Nintendo checking Smashboards but Sakurai has said in an interview that he does look at feedback on twitter. He also said he worries about it too much sometimes, so I cant imagine that with all the hype surrounding Ultimate, he wouldnt have at least peeked at the response to something as obscurely presented as the Rath pic.

If he did look at comments below the Rath pic then its impossible hes not aware of Isaac demand.

It was some E3 video interview with either J.C., Bill or another Nintendo guy, but the quote was definitely something like, "If it's related to Smash Bros, and it's on the internet, Mr. Sakurai is aware of it." That kind of matches with how he wants to control people's expectations.

I wonder if anyone could find that source. Maybe the Gameexplain video with Bill?

Here's a little theory I put together (It may mean nothing but, tell me what you think anyway).

There are 7 music samples left to be added to the Smash website. There are also 5 more stages to reveal (if there is 108 stages total). Each new stage may also be tied to a music sample that will be put on the website (Golden Sun music for a Golden Sun stage or a Pokemon Sun/Moon song for a Pokemon Sun/Moon stage). If that is the case we will likely be getting information in the first week of November (or the last day of October at earliest).

For those that say new stages tend to not have music samples tied to them: Great Plateau Tower, Moray Towers, and Dracula's Castle all have music samples. New Donk City Hall is the only one without a music sample that matches the game it is from (Odyssey). It actually wouldn't surprise me if a music sample tied to Super Mario Odyssey was added this week or next.

I'm not about to give up. Until December 7th, my hope for Isaac will remain strong. If he's not in the base, then you bet your behind I'm backing him for DLC. I'll keep fighting the good fight alongside everyone else.

Don't give up on Golden Boi just yet!

The Rathalos tweet may have surprised Sakurai, with Isaac fans coming out of the woodworks. But it's also a post with not as much traction as his other Smash tweets or reveals. Not to say the hype generated by it is overrated, but we really should be applying the #isaac4smash and #goldensun hastags and doing what we can in a respectable and positive way to support our Golden Boy. I think Nintendo is much more likely to look at global trends and while English-speaking Nintendo is likely aware of Smashboards, one massive newcomer thread may be brushed under if the reception isn't in full force in other areas, too.
The fan-gathered ballot results show we've been putting in the work, we just need to continue pushing hard.

What I’ve begun to think is, if 103 stages is in fact true I don’t think it’ll seriously impact Isaac. Hear me out here. What if golden sun isn’t going to get a stage, but a story mode boss arena? Venus lighthous, but the fusion dragon appears as a boss battle. We’ve seen other boss arenas that don’t count towards the 103 stage count, so it’s not THAT far out of the realm of possibility. Perhaps later, after launch they could give us mercury lighthouse of mars lighthouse as a stage on the stage select. But of launch they felt the best location representation was the Venus lighthouse repping the final battle of the first game. That would explain why they were seemingly alluding to the final boss of GS1 in that tweet.

I'm of mind that said picture was indeed a Golden Sun reference but at the same time there's always the chance that we looked in to it too much and it's just referencing Monster Hunter.

Link could have ready'd his bow, the characters could have used a more dynamic pose. It's either a Golden Sun or reference or just a cool picture as Sakurai said, but certainly not a Monster Hunter reference.

I think the pic would be way cooler if they were jumping/attacking rathalos in the screenshot instead of standing still in an "odd" formation, no? Just for the sake of possibility I will say there is a 1% chance that it isn't referencing anything
