That’s a pretty poor way to look at people who could have information. You have to treat things with skepticism but an open mind. Doesn’t mean you commit to a stance with them. You can try to throw him out all you want, we should have thrown him out ages ago by your logic but he was right about a good deal of ge base game.

This doesn’t have to be an all or nothing scenario and shouldn’t be. I noted he’s in a worse place from a credibility standpoint. I’m not denying that, but there’s still opportunities for him to be right down the road. Doesn’t mean you believe him wholeheartedly every time he says something or the opposite either.

He’s still worth paying attention to with an eye of healthy skepticism.

He has backtracked on almost everything he has claimed. He only gained notoriety because Verge endorsed him. He is where Verge was getting all his Minecraft stuff from.

Was it just those two? I thought that Erdrick was supposed to be the big rallying character for insiders that they all believed in.

If that's the case then I think Erdrick's standing in Smash has been lessened, Nintendo's existing commitment to Dragon Quest notwithstanding.

The problem is people didn't have skepticism with what he claims. Whatever he claimed was now "the truth". No more speculating allowed. Any speculation was shutdown with "BUT VERGE SAID THIS!" and a lot of us got really sick of it. I'm hoping at least this stops people from taking his words as gospel.

While I do really want to throw out Vergie-Burgie that's kind of a flawed outlook cause all we know about the DLC is that Joker is in. Verge has screwed up big-time for this Direct but we shouldn't instantly throw out all the information he has brought us cause for all we know Verge's claims about the DLC was right but outside of that not so much, He's great with Smash info but not other info.

Of course I could be wrong and Verge is gone which I would gladly accept but just don't throw him out juuust yet, Absolutely take his info with a big grain of salt but don't completely disregard what he's said yet. Just cause he didn't get Joker right does not mean he has got the entire DLC line up wrong, He didn't get K. Rool either and yet he was right about almost everything he said about Base.

And given the Direct, I'm beginning to wonder if Tansut only heard about Erdrick as a potential future character and not Brave specifically. The datamined stats otherwise contradicted his words.

Oh yeah that's right, I remember that now. AFAIK the only straight up leaked picture was the Ken leak but that wasn't what he was talking about.

As for Cloud, if it was only minutes in advance then that's not much of a leak.

Same. Those were the two best things there and the only good things there, but, even then, they aren't any of those games that would make me scream lol.

I guess though the only 4 things that would make me extremely happy are a Geno reveal for Smash, a Ninten reveal for Smash, an SMRPG remake reveal, and Mother 3/Mother trilogy remake reveal.

But the direct sucked

Exactly. It's kinda ironic that the first part games revealed are far more hype than any of the third party ones (except for technically SMRPG though, but that's a first party game developed by a third party company, so Idk).

Yeah discussion regarding the DLC was pretty insufferable for the past couple of months outside of here because people were taking Verge’s words as gospel. This sets things back to level 1 which I f anything will be a more healthy space for actual discussion and conjecture.

Going along with this it seems very possible that Verge and Tansut (and very possibly other “insiders”) do have legit sources but that said sources got leakb8d. And as Fatmanonice said Nintendo is way more into doing that than people thought. That’d honestly be a very easy explanation for things.

I'm speculating that leak that "Nintendo was mad about" was the leak on 4chan that no one cared about that mentioned Piranha Plant alongside Incineroar and Ken. But if it was specifically an image then it wouldn't be that either.

To be fair, he didn't really know what it was, just he assumed it was a picture because of how ruffled Square's feathers were.
