An echo/semi clone wouldn't make any sense since there's so much possibilities with Geno's moveset. But hey, if I had to choose between this or not having him in the game at all, i would take it.
That could be a bad thing, or a very, very good thing. Generally, I'm inclined to think the latter. Being able to be an echo certainly helps your chances, but the tradeoff can be disappointing. I'm sure there were many Dark Samus supporters who were hoping for more. And Dixie supporters definitely are. At least we don't have to worry about that. We just worry about complete disconformation.

The only issue with relying on Smashdown for the total number is that the second there is a DLC character it breaks the division by 12.
Also, Smashdown could just end when you don't have enough characters to fight with depending on your player count
First off a robot and a puppet are literally nothing alike. They would have no moves in common whatsoever, and echoes are almost certainly only going to happen for characters that are from the same series. I get that you’re just trying to contribute, but this is a garbage suggestion lol
This. Like, I could totally see Sakurai re-using some assets from Mii Gunner + the Geno costume, at least as a base, and then build onto that to create a complete, working, unique character. Seems like a waste to not use existing resources, really, since they're already there anyway.

Incidentally, I've been skimming through the entirety of the thread, just to get a picture of how far we've come. It's been a wild couple of months--the thread went almost double its length in the last month and a half alone.
We've talked about leaks (most of which are now completely disproven), Music, Mallow's role in Smash (this comes up a lot, lol) and a ton of conspiracies, which have only gotten more believeable with time. Some excellent videos have been posted, along with some fantastic fan art. Funnily enough, moveset is one of the least talked about topics. Go figure!
The mood rarely dips below extremely (Though sometimes cautiously) optimistic and positive, and I never saw a hint of toxicity. This is an absolutely incredible sub-community, and it's awesome to get to experience the fun and terrifying excitement of this gen's Smash speculation with you all! I can't wait to share in the biggest moment yet to come...Geno's confirmation!
We should see about setting up some online matches, and maybe a tourney, once the game releases. Would love to throw down with you guys!

Yeah exactly! It will be the most satisfying things in the world. I have wanted geno for a few months now (i only played RPG a few months back oops) but as soon as i realised how likely he had become i wanted to join in on the hype here as i knew it would only fuel my hype more and support him. The payoff and excitement will be even higher now if that reveal comes thanks to all of you. Oh gosh we are 4 months off and are already getting all soft haha.This. I would say a Nin direct next month focused on the online service mainly with a few other games sprinkled in and a character reveal to close. Then another but smaller smash direct like you said in November to give out the last little bits of info. Most likely about the supposed "Spirits" mode on the menu and features. The direct next month will most likely talk about smashs online because that will sell a lot of subscriptions too and we don't know much about it either. Like even though the game isn't out yet people may just buy a years worth before hand for the sake of it once they see that smash will have a good online system (i hope).

It should 100% have actual Smash Info. Getting a nintendo online subscription needs to have benefits. Playing smash online (a game that only releases once every 4-7 years) should be your leading pitch for online. I wouldn't be surprised if there is yet another 15-20 minute Smash section for this direct, showing off online, 2 new characters, and a set of echoes again. Perhaps, even with Mii fighters likely getting into online, it would be a good time to announce that with the possibility of a 4th Mii fighter type (Mii Spellcaster/Wizard is one I've been seeing people throw around these days). I just hope if it does happen, it doesn't detract of actual smash character chances, like Geno/Issac, etc.

Sakurai's been wanting to include him for quite a while.Not to certain about 2 new unique characters. I see them talking revealing some echos and maybe 1 unique newcomer along with some online information. A full Smash direct i think will occur late October/ Early November which will reveal the last 2 unique characters for the game. My predictions are Geno ( opener) and Banjo-Kazooie (closer) Before this Smash direct there they will reveal 2 unique newcomers and more echos thru other mini directs my guess 1 newcomer Pokemon and the other well its up in the Isaac, Elma or someone else i really can't say for certain. So really in total we will get 8 new comers. we already got 4. just 4 more to go folks! :D
Could be more than 4 though. A "few more" is technically anywhere from 3-6. We've gotten 4 uniques in 2 months, with 4 more months left for promotion. If the trend continues, it could mean up to 8 more uniques but I won't go that far. Don't be shocked if we get upwards of 6 more unique fighters.
I am all for that. I am just playing it safe with 8 newcomers total. Echos don't count as unique newcomers. I hope yours is the case though. To be honest we now that "not too many new challengers" (for base game). DLC will happen guys. It will be a money maker for them and they know it. For the DLC portion - how many DLC characters you guys think they will do? For some reason 10 stands out to me. This game will reach 100 characters (echos counted) after all DLC is said and done what you guys think?
As cool as that would be, I don't think we'd get two unique newcomers from Square. The most I could see would be Geno and maybe Zack as a Cloud echo, given he'd make the most sense. Hopefully plenty of music and even a new stage follows with them.This is just a theory, but I think Geno will be revealed in a direct, along with some more final fantasy stuff, kind of like how lots of Castlevania stuff was in the last one.

Feel the need to state that while I agree that it's ****ty when people a character you actively support down and then turn around and say "oh I'm so happy for you" is incredibly two-faced, there's no point in firing back. It only fuels a cycle of unnecessary hate.
I'd argue there's been far less toxicity and more positive vibes and hope. Not speaking for the others here, but I myself am rooting for the likes of Isaac, Skull Kid, and Banjo & Kazooie (plus countless others) and I see quite a bit of that positive vibe in other threads too. Sure there are outliers but they aren't as rampant as they were before the direct last week.
On Smashboards things seem to be great, but unfortunately whenever I look over other sites everyone seems to be redirecting previous hostilities towards Geno's fanbase. Though I suppose these individuals may just intend to argue against anything. Just wanted to say that I hope our fanbase can refrain from firing back.
I know I would've thought that before too, but now the doors are blown open with how much they added from Castlevania. I think they're going as far as they can.
I'd say Ridley and K. Rool showing up ignited a new level of "Holy Hell, this really is the best chance we have."
