I just hope we will get third Fighters Pass. Until then, there is 0% chance of playable Geno. Why would they add Geno as a costume if he is in FP2? Does not make any sense.

Some BS happened last year similar to this where a buch of Pewdiepie's 10 year old army was sending glitches and bs to peoples computers. This is just annoying to watch, can someone let me know when the thread goes back to normal. i just want to hear fatmans thoughts on what is going on with geno, im not hailing him like a god or anything

This will either take another thread lock or just some time to pass.

This is the moment where outsiders get to come in and gloat about how right they were when we literally just wanted our favorite character like any other Smash support fandom, but since we are one of the bigger ones and the character we want can be easily targeted with comments like 'his franchise is dead' or 'he is an irrelevant character from 24 years ago!', they come for us just because we loved the character and dared to be confident at one point and have positivity.

We aren't the only ones though, they will move on to the next one and keep doing so until DLC is done, and it's what has essentially ruined the game for me in the longer run: knowing the community at large is on par with LoL community.

I just don’t know what’s more frustrating about Geno’s deconfirmation.

The fact that he didn’t get the fulfillment of finally getting added alongside or the fact that we’ll NEVER get the **ing satisfaction of FINALLY proving every goddamn naysayer and detractor wrong all these years, we’ll continue to get mocked and treated like idiots for ever wanting him til the end of time and that sucks.

Maybe they’ll atleast add him in SSF2 or something.

I have not used this account in forever and it's probably the only time I ever will, but I just came here to voice my sympathies with you guys. I was never one that actively rooted for Geno nor did I ever play Super Mario RPG, but I always thought he'd be a cool and pretty unique addition, and as someone who's rooted for relatively underdog characters in the past like Roy and Isaac, I fully sympathize with you guys.

And that also said, all this spiteful hatred towards the character and his fans is absolutely disgusting and pitiful, because I know if it had been the other way around people would be singing a different tune. Seems like they just want an excuse to make fun of people and piss them off.

The biggest loss of Geno not making it into Ultimate as a newcomer is the fact he will probably never be in the same roster alongside all the veterans together.

If it helps, I'm trying to report these "ragging on FMOI" posts too. Note, calling out his theory is fine. Ragging on him clearly is not fine.

I want this to move on too. And the mods will respond best to reports. Just do try to keep in mind that there's a clear difference from calls outs and ragging. Like, the earlier thread had someone mistake the Reimu thing as some kind of knock to their characters. The post wasn't meant to, but I can understand how it's easy to mistake for that too. So overall, it looks non-tactful and it feels like it was troublesome. I'd suggest we move on from the doxxing conversation as is too for similar reasons. It only is going to cause more heated statements, despite not being intended.

Oh, on another note, I should look into more randomizers. I just wish they would make them for the alternate system releases. For instance, Zelda 1 randomizer isn't designed for the GBA port, which suuuucks.

Hey thread! Figured I’d stop by and just say that I know how it feels to have a character you really, really wanted disconfirmed, or just never show up at all. For Wii U, my first foray into speculation, that would be Snake returning.

I think it’s unfortunate that Geno, at the very least, didn’t come with Beware the Forest Mushroom’s track or have a deluxe helmet. I myself love SMRPG, and like Geno. I didn’t quite think he would be playable, but I liked the character. Guess we’re just gonna have to figure out a solid Mii head to implement!

Overall, I think it’ll be good to approach anything Smash leak/speculation related with a healthy level of skepticism, especially when it comes to Geno, unfortunately. Good for all of you in terms of how you’ve taken things so far. I don’t think it’s fair that folks are taking time out of their day to poke fun or be particularly unkind to any of you, regardless of what their opinions are of any particular users. It’s truly unfortunate.

While I don’t know anybody’s particular backstory with Geno or many folks in this particular thread, keep in mind that many of those fanbases will likely meet the same fate with 3 characters remaining. I WOULD recommend, however, to take a step back as needed if it becomes a bit much. The internet can be a pretty...savage place, at times, I guess.

Either way, I may not post here often but I figured I’d stop in and at least let you all know that the rest of the fanbase doesn’t strictly dislike you or hate this thread. You’re human beings just like I am...unless you’re a secret lizard person, in which case well done staying hidden!

I don’t get why some people assume we mindlessly follow everything Fatman says as fact we should believe 100%. A lot of us in this thread disagree with ideas of his, even if we may agree on some or at least find some things reasonable. All of what he says is just theories and predictions, even if based on stuff with “in-the-know” people he’s talked to, but even he has said he also looks at other stuff and doesn’t agree with those people on some things.

I also believe Fatman is being genuine. Maybe those people are lying to him or have wrong info, but I cannot fathom Fatman being a giant conspiratorial serial liar/troll after everything I’ve seen/read during all these events over the past two years, and his past as a Geno fan who was even down on his chances during Smash 4. I feel the idea he’s some liar is just a big misunderstanding, the people believing in it not caring enough to see if there’s another explanation or, if they somehow have proof, they sure hate sharing it for some reason.

Alright so first things first, this 'Enix with Enix, Square with Square' thing is stupid as hell and let me kill it now.

Square and Enix aren't separate companies with separate teams: they are one company after the merger many years ago. There is no 'Enix side', this is just something dumb that people have said to justify why the costumes didn't show up in Wave 2. I once fell for it too until I used my brain.

Anything that you are saying right now doesn't matter because the situation is different and only Sakurai's word on exactly why we are getting a repeat can truly clarify why it has happened. You can speculate all you want, and you COULD be right, but unfortunately you are not Sakurai and therefore you cannot answer my questions. Basically, you can be an expert business man (which I doubt you are by any means) and know exactly X Y and Z reasons why this would happen, but you aren't Masahiro Sakurai or Nintendo or Square who were involved in making deciding factors, so you physically cannot actually answer this question for me.

This is why I am waiting for the Famitsu Column for an answer.

Also, we have been ignored.

In Melee, you can't justify no 3rd party additions as a reason. Just because MANY requests were ignored doesn't change the fact that OUR request was ignored, it simply highlights we were one of many. As the games go by and we become one of the biggest requests who still gains steam and shows the proof of it while other requests either get in or get canned, it becomes a bigger deal when your request still gets ignored.

In Brawl, we definitely got ignored, and we know why that is since Square hadn't gotten off their tantrum high-horse yet to work with anyone at Nintendo outside of a few things, and Smash had been a big deal since Melee.

In Smash 4, we weren't ignored, we just didn't get what we wanted. However, we got a consolation prize and acknowledgement, like I already said.

To then go from a consolation prize and acknowledgement and suggesting that next time around it's likely your character will be playable just based on the language, only to wait this long for the costume to return with essentially no changes to it and not even remark on it in the slightest while we've surged to never-before seen heights of pushing for the character ever since the Smash 4 Ballot and his costume reveal all the way to now?

That is called being ignored. It has the same vibe as Isaac fans when they took forever to reveal his AT and then were somehow shocked that they wanted him playable, except it's worse because all three parties (Sakurai and his team, Nintendo and Square) ALL ALREADY KNOW how much Geno is loved and requested and they STILL decided to ignore all that this time and just give us what we had already gotten before.

This reeks of a parent getting new things for their other children and getting them what THEY want but forcing their one child to wear only the same style despite their complaints and requests that this isn't what they wanted and just waving them away while talking on the phone or watching TV.

Also, I understand it's very much not this way, but it can feel really personal at this point. All the evidence that seemed like it favored him, the fact that Ultimate had been fulfilling fan requests left and right, and how Sakurai acknowledged him and did more DLC to fulfill more fan requests? When all the other really big fan picks get in and even though you were with them almost the whole time you get sidelined? When it seems like everyone else under the sun is getting what they want, including your friends around you, but somehow it;s just never your turn when it really seems like it should be next?

When all you do is smile and feel happy for everyone else but never yourself, it starts to get real dark...

Square Enix being separated inside is well-known story. Everyone know that at this point. Even SE developers are admitting it in various interviews. Company reviews from the workers are saying all the time that there is a huge dividing wall between the two parties. This is getting better after DQX, but still they aren't acting as one company. Square Enix isn't a normal company as you think. Once again, this is an open secret of SE since their foundation.

As I expected, Geno got turned into a costume, and that probably means he won't be playable.

But since it's just speculation and it's harmless, even though it's unlikely, there are some details that can make you wonder if that's really the end for him:
-Will there be another pass or not?
-Could a character from a previous pass be promoted as a playable character in the next pass?
-Why was it that, inthis specific reveal, they opened with Mii Costumes?

As unlikely as it is, if you want to speculate then go on, it's not over until it's over. Yes, it definitely looks bad for Geno but, then again, it's not looking good for any character that's not in yet and who is from Nintendo, or worse, an Assist Trophy, and that doesn't stop people hoping for Isaac or Waluigi.

And don't bother with the trolls, they always go out of their caves during this seasons to refill their stocks of Wojacks.

God, this right here. THIS is what kills me more than anything else.

This is why I hope so much that he still someone gets in this pass against all odds, or that Nintendo isn't stupid enough to cut their profits yet and do more DLC to open the doors again just a little bit. This is why 'Welp we lost guys, but there is always Smash 6!' gives me no comfort.

First off, we don't know if there will be a Smash 6 or when that would happen.

Secondly, this REALLY is Sakurai's magnum opus and as such, could actually be his last entry in the series even if they go on without him. Sakurai is our best chance at getting our boi in as far as I'm concerned, so if he leaves so do our chances of ever getting him in.

Thirdly, even if Geno got in the next game, I'm not sure how happy I could be when the roster is gutted and all the favorite characters of my friends get removed but NOW OF ALL TIMES mine gets in. Imagine Geno getting in Smash 6 after they cut out all the third-party reps they can't keep! People will stick to Ultimate because it was the best in the series for content. Imagine having to ask or beg your friends to play Smash 6 so you can play as Geno and they just sigh and say they don't want to because Ultimate has all the characters they want and Smash 6 cut all of them.

It's like how it was for me and Smash 4 when everyone wanted to play Melee. Truly, we would have won, but it would be a hollow victory as far as I'm concerned.

Nah, I'm pretty sure the reason he can't give it up is for the same reason I can't fully give it up, which is that we've been in this fight for most of our waking moments and we've seen enough **** on Sakurai's Wild Ride (TM) to not give up until it's 100% all over.

He's been here for 15 years with all of which have been dedicated to this character during Brawl drumming up hype despite third parties being a new concept, after the mii in smash 4 and i presume after the mii returning in Ultimate. People saying that Fatman is some silly cult leader trying to convince people Geno is likely are either mislead by users goig into other threads and just talking about stuff he says (ive seen that happen a lot in Newcom Spec) or are just grossly underestimating his passion for the character and not looking beyond that. While he has been costume'd, we have been here before. Brawl (not myself) and 4. Even if he has been deconfirmed, keeping the train going is a good idea as if it was anything else, it would be give up all hope. Its just gross misinterpretations coming from several ends of people coming in
