This is why I've come to dislike Smash, Sakurai and especially the fanboys of those two alongside Nintendo fanboys. You express your disdain for something, you get bombarded by people telling you to be thankful or be happy with what you were given. That is the
worst mindset to have. Just because someone works hard on something doesn't entitle them to blind praise and compliments. I'm recently reminded of that #ThankYouGameFreak movement. As a Pokemon fan that has since fell back from the series since Gen VI, I couldn't believe people were that adverse to the criticism that were given to GameFreak for their underwhelming approach to obtaining Pokemon and outright keeping certain Pokemon behind a paywall and DLC. It's one thing if people let it be, it's another thing to not only call fans entitled for not wanting a third of the roster only, but to outright buy the game not because you look forward to the game, but simply to spite those who won't.
That mindset allows companies and developers to get away with doing the bare minimum, not listening to critique is how you end up with three instances of a battle system that has no incentive for you to partake in and addressing would-be critiques that in any other sequel, would be addressed, making for a better game. I'll tie this in to Smash to further prove my point: Still images are not worthy content. Pasting a few promotional art pieces from Eternal Darkness is not acknowledging Eternal Darkness, it's a cheap way to pretend that you care about it. Slapping five stars on artwork of characters people want is not doing them justice. And worst of all, a poorly made costume is not a good thing, it only makes you want the real thing, IE King ****ing K. Rool. Me ******** and moaning about that costume led to him coming to Ultimate and it was because I didn't settle for less that his overall inclusion and reception have been as big as it was. As a consumer, I was happy with what I saw and made it clear by buying Ultimate. As a consumer that tried out the product given to me, I was not happy with certain choices made with the game in terms of content, characters and features. That is not being ungrateful, that is me giving my input on said product. You are not ungrateful for constructive criticism.
Same with assists, settling for a cameo of a beloved character that only appears in 40% of the stages isn't a good thing, it's a copout. Compromises are never to be made in any shape or form, Consider the fights had in real life over varying things, rights, power, equality, money, economic freedom, etc. Do you think any of the would-be accomplishments in history would take place if people simply were grateful for what they had (or didn't)? Sorry to get to that point, but settling for less is never ideal. It starts with a silly cartoon character throwing bombs and goes to bigger matters like whether or not you and your family are allowed to live your lives as seen fit without oppression.
Short version: If you're mad about this, you have every right to be. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. You are not ungrateful for constructive criticism.

take a break from this place. That is all I can suggest. Sometimes you have to fall back and collect your thoughts and zen. You've done a great amount of service for everyone here and in spite of things, at the very least you can take solace that a few people share your sentiments right now.
