hot take: mach rider is what kills the leak for me. why the h3ll would he be here? this game's roster was based on the ballot. who the h3ll voted for mach rider? plus, i'm a box theorist, so this many newcomers is just absurd to me.
also, it's blurry as h3ll. never trust a leak that's so blurry that you can barely even see what's going on. that's a dead giveaway every single time.

As far as this leak goes, I'm on Team 'Fake Until Confirmed By Nintendo/Sakurai' because frankly the Artsy Rayman and Crunchii's ciphers are proof that leakers will go above and beyond just for a 'gotcha Smash community, haha!' little tickle to their pickle. The LinkedIn going private seems more like cover-up to try and stop people from grabbing more information to debunk it and it's too blurry to detect any minor errors that would confirm it being fake. Also, and I know people will hate me for this, but...ahem...

VERGEBEN IS STILL OUR ONLY MOST CREDIBLE LEAKER FOR SMASH ULTIMATE!

Thus anyone or anything that goes against what he says automatically becomes questionable at best when it comes to credibility. Sure, Vergeben could be wrong or it could be something weird like 'Hey, remember when he said Simon would be at E3 and we would get a Castlevania collection?' and those two things didn't happen until much later and thus Incineroar could be DLC or something, but that again would just prove Vergeben to be correct on something else.

Add in that we have very little time left and that currently it seems that the game has gone gold and we may have the full build at the Nintendo Live event and frankly, it doesn't seem possible to have seven new fighters, as much as I would like that to be the case.

Still, I hope this gets remembered as the Grinch's Warehouse/Garage leak.

EDIT: Bringing up the 'ruffled feathers' thing again, I'm pretty sure if this were to be real it would ruffle the feathers of an entire gaggle of game-developing geese.

EDIT EDIT: Apparently is was this guy's Snapchat that went private, not his LinkedIn. Also reportedly his place of work has been called and confirmed he exists and works where we think he does. Decently solid evidence I supposed, but still fake until confirmed.

First the blog theory, then the box art theory, now... the Grinch? iirc Smashwiki has dedicated pages for retelling the events of real leaks of Smash past, so here's hoping that we get a page called The Grinch Leak. (hehe).

Personally, I prefer "How the Grinch stole the Smash Roster."

It seems to me the general tide is already shifting away from the leak. I really couldn't believe it (as in literally could not force myself to do so) because of the wish fulfillment going on. I would never begin to understand the decision to hold back not only this many characters, but these big reveals until the very end of the hype cycle like this. I just don't think there is enough time to reveal all these characters properly.

Add in the fact that we have insiders seeming to step forward and go, I know something and this isn't it, and I'm inclined to believe this is just too damn good to be true. I think a lot of the context of this picture is super interesting, but I just can't let myself believe this in earnest. Despite the fact that this would be a damn near perfect roster completion of Smash for me. Geno, Banjo, Isaac. My three most wanted? YES. Chorus Kids and Mach Rider (one of my top three choices for retro rep) of all things. YES. Shadow and Ken, well expected, but. YES.

It's just too good to be true, and I tend to believe Sakurai was serious about the number of newcomers being seriously low. And I'll admit I've just become so damn cynical with what's left of the roster that I don't believe Sakurai, in any way, shape, or form, is going to go all out on wish fulfillment like this. I'm convinced Geno is the best case scenario of one of the final newcomers and that we probably have the super disappointing Incineroar (or someone of that level reveal wise) left next to any final Echo fighters...

Let's not quite celebrate yet. This leak is like what, not even 12 hours old? If the evidence if favor of this thing sticks around a while longer, maybe then celebrations are in order. Don’t rub it in that we got in while others didn’t. We remember what it’s like to get snubbed. I’m sure everyone has one or two people they would like to rub it in to, but Geno fans get a lot of hate doing nothing but supporting our character. Don’t give people a reason to hate on us more. He said in an interview that if Nintendo approached him about putting Banjo in Smash he would be happy to let them. Key word: "would". Ask the Banjo support thread for the source, they use it as evidence that he is in. Also he said it around June, Sakurai says it takes him a year to make a new character so they can't have added him since.

Phil Spencer never said Banjo wasn't in. He said recently that he'd still be down for Banjo when someone asked him, but that's not necessarily deconfirming him.

Also, if this leak turns out to be real, WE DID IT, GENO BOIS.

I know people are using the fact that this guy works for namco as proof, but why would namco's side be doing the promotion? Expecially with how tight lipped they wanna be. Shouldn't nintendo's people be making this stuff?

It’s so surreal seeing smash be so big now that even fast food companies get in on this type of thing.

That or they really really understand their customer base....

:/ shame Wendy’s food makes me sick cuz it’s so greasy. Tastes fine, but literally anytime I eat there I get sick to my stomach. Only fast food places that do that to me are Wendy’s and burger king.
