I've strongly believes that our precious Geno shall be confirmed as a New Comer of finally being (PLAYABLE) in Smash Ultimate's roster, no matter what with all of video leaks popping out like woodwork:

If you're gonna make a Smash game that'll probably be your last, put in every cut character and most of the stages, the fan favorite characters who never made it in, develop it for the entirety of the Smash community (competitive and casual), and plan DLC prior to release.

Geno makes sense for the base roster of a game like Ultimate. As for DLC, it's anyone's guess, but with Microsoft and Ubisoft partnering with Nintendo so much lately, Banjo, Steve, Rayman make the most sense. Plus, it also makes sense for any other future third-parties to be DLC-only, so that way you're not paying a billion different people with the profits from the main game.

Interesting news. It SEEMS that the characters added to SMash 4 probably weren't ballot characters. The start of their data was added right before the ballot ended so the characters added to DLC were probably predetermined.

It could be that the Ballot was determining the characters added to Smash 5 instead.

I still think that timing was the major issue on why he wasn’t included. Cloud was added pretty late. I agree that this news is positive as I’m sure Geno finished reasonably well, but I think Sakurai already knew how popular he was, he didn’t need the ballot to address that. But I can definitely agree it’ll be much more appreciated if he’s added now.

I don't think Geno was relatively high on it, but seeing as how characters like Waluigi and Krystal were deconfirmed immediately and Ridley is in the game now (and, y'know, Geno has a Mii costume), I think he has a pretty awesome chance. People really should support him more, I don't see how he could not make it in this time around.

Too be honest, the amount of people on that poll is not very much. I'm not sure it could be scientifically viable.

It's just the Japanese audience as well, mind you.

I actually don't imagine Geno has a lot of support in Europe as well, seeing as the game didn't come out in Europe until the Virtual Console/

As much as I love Geno, him getting in and King K. Rool not would be odd. As popular as Geno is and as much as Sakurai wants him in the games, you'd think King K. Rool would be in on the fan demand alone alongside Geno and Ridley, not still excluded. King K. Rool is about the closest thing people speculating for Smash Ultimate can call a lock, and his fan demand has been shown time and time again. That doesn't make him guaranteed, but I almost always am going to be more skeptical of a leak when the King isn't included. Geno, Chibi Robo, Simon Belmont, and Rayman though? I'd be pretty damn excited about those additions.

Also, as much as Ultimate seems to be catering to fans, I'd be surprised to not see one of the more popular new characters make it in such as Ashley, Bandanna Dee, or Captain Toad in addition to the main fan picks. So that also brings about a level of skepticism when I see a leak that pretty much fails to include anyone new.

My whole post was more or less pointing out how I didn't believe the leak based on character choices. Those four would be cool newcomers for me, but I don't hold any stock in that leak.

Chibi-Robo had a little mini resurgence around the initial planning of Smash Ultimate too with Photo Finder and Zip Lash, alongside his Amiibo. Plus he's a cute little robot buddy and has plenty of move potential. Sure, he's far from the most popular of characters or requests for Smash, but I think he's a very reasonable addition to the roster. As reasonable as the likes of Isaac or Rhythm Heaven reps given they're all newer series completely lacking representation.

I'm prepared for that. As long as Sakurai includes a way for me to make Geno again, I'll be good. Geno being a costume AGAIN even after everything seems to be going well for him is a grim reality I must be prepared for. I know this, if Geno is not playable again this year, I'm retiring from speculating Geno being in Smash for good. I'm 31 years old, I've waited 12+ years and 22 since SMRPG for Geno to be in another game again. I feel like Geno has everything going for him this year, and I've basically screamed at Nintendo to hear my cry. I've downloaded RPG twice on VC and purchased Geno's sole dlc costume, just to show Nintendo I'm willing to pay money to see Geno again. If he's still not playable I will finally give up. 3 strikes and you're out. I can't wait for another console. We've waited long enough for our character's turn.

This is true...but at least I can say I supported Geno back in the Smash 4 speculation days as well. I wasn't terribly vocal at the time, as I was too busy supporting Shulk, but Geno's was one of the first three threads I came to when I created my account here.

I mean, way before I ever wanted Bandana Dee or Shulk, before I even knew of the speculation scene, I wanted Geno. He's one of the few characters that has consistently been on my mind anytime I think of Smash over the last 20 or so years. Though he may not always be at the forefront, I doubt I will ever stop asking for Geno in Smash.

...until he gets in of course, lol. This is just the time it feels closest to happening, hence why even a quiet supporter like me is speaking up. I'm excited!

Well, I think the main reason his support may have dipped in the Sm4sh days is because of the Wii U. Honestly, I didn't contemplate jumping on the forums because it didn't seem to be as big of a deal as Brawl. No one really had a Wii U, so less people were interested. I kept my eyes on the game from a distance, but never participated.

That being said, I was ecstatic when I saw Geno appear as a Mii costume. Really got me excited for Smash 5. Anyway, we are here now. Let's just show our support and hope Geno makes it in this time!

Chibi-Robo is one of my top two choices and even I don't believe he'll be in Smash. I'm pretty certain the picks for this game are going to be based off of popularity, and Chibi-Robo doesn't have that clout. Geno does, but not my boy.

They've got room for maybe half a dozen new characters to add. They have hard data on who's the most requested for Smash from the ballot. I highly doubt Sakurai is going to go for picks that'll receive a "Huh, okay" response like several of the original Smash 4 picks (Duck Hunt, Wii Fit Trainer, Bowser Jr., etc). It's going to be characters that a lot of people are going to cheer for, like Geno.

I mean, I'll lose my mind if Chibi-Robo gets announced, but it'll be me and less than 1% of the playerbase. So I've come to terms with the idea that he won't be in a long time ago. It's still possible, but highly unlikely. My current holdout is for Dark Samus, my other top pick, who has a lot of circumstantial evidence pointing to her being in at least as an Echo Fighter.

Most of ROB's specials are similar to how I think they'd make Geno. With some added effects. It'd be interesting to see if that was true but they couldn't get Geno in Brawl. His laser is like Geno Beam, he has a disc, and the rocket boost wouldn't have been too far off for Geno.

But his normal attacks and the spin don't really work.

I was wondering what people would think if his characters ended up being close to a mixture between Mii Gunner and ROB, with maybe a few snake thrown in.

I always kinda thought the Geno Whirl attack would be similar to how character's throw trophy stands in Subspace. I feel Geno would also have a chargeable beam attack ala Samus, Lucaria, Mewtwo, etc, but it would actually be a strait forward beam rather than a ball.

If he does get confirmed, I'll make it a priority to play through Super Mario RPG before the game launches, and see what all the hubbub is about, since I know almost nothing about the character.
