Simply put, no matter how cryptic you were, you were still referring to Lloyd before any insider did publicly at the end of the day, as you just stated right now if I’m not mistaken.

The best part about this is you can pretty accurately gauge someones /v/ exposure by their opinion on this matter alone. I've been fooling around with those games since high school and it's literally the only place I've ever seen active reimu for smash support congregate until we saw the results of sabi's poll.

Regardless of who gets in from here on out, I'll always be thankful to Sakurai and the rest of the developer team for making Super Smash Bros. Ultimate what it is. Are there characters and other stuff I still wish was in? Yes. Are there decisions regarding characters and other stuff that I disagree with? Absolutely. But even still, Sakurai and the team clearly put their heart and soul in to make this the best game they could, and no matter what, I'll always be thankful for that.

Well lets start! Everyone has kind of gone on with their own history about Super Mario RPG and what makes it great to them.

That being said, what are your thoughts on that title? Was Geno an instant hit with you? I played the game for the first time last year and I really enjoyed it!

My friend loved the game growing up and he tried to get me to play it, but I just did not like the art style (Ignorant child that I was). So, Geno getting into Smash is not just my dream, but my childhood friend's as well.

All of these costumes are going to be upgraded, but not how you think. They will all be combined into one fighter. Thus, creating the ULTIMATE fighter!

So I know we have all been talking about the likely, what about curveball #5. I personally think if it was originally “the end”, how about a huge selling franchise from Nintendo. Well lets start! Everyone has kind of gone on with their own history about Super Mario RPG and what makes it great to them.

I grew up with SMRPG. I was 9 years old when it came out and it became one of my favorite RPGs on the SNES. Keep in mind I had just played Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy 6 at the time, so those were tough acts to follow. The soundtrack will still get stuck in my head from time to time and I'll end up humming along to Hello, Happy Kingdom at work. I haven't played it recently, but this thread certainly makes me want to.

As for Geno himself, I actually didn't have the same degree of love for him as the already established characters, though I did learn to like him more a lot later. Bowser being on your side blew my mind as a kid. Just having him and Peach (who was still Toadstool in America) fighting side by side was like a fever dream when you're 9 years old and didn't have much experience with face-heel turns in media.

And through the years, I'll always be disappointed how the series didn't really pan out and lead to a busted relationship between Square and Nintendo. I liked the Paper Mario and Mario and Luigi games, but they just weren't the same.

I was wrong. I said in the King Boo thread last week that "he can't be in because he'd have to be labeled a Luigi's mansion character but Luigi is labeled as a mario character" was the weakest argument on this site. In the past month we had Tetriminos, Pokemon Sword/Shield rep, and Resident Evil deconfirmed via spirits. If they keep up this trend, it's going to make speculation that more interesting and unpredictable.

If the "we" was that much of an issue because it made me, an outsider, seem like I've been here forever, then I apologize. It wasn't my intention and I'll have no problem remaining an outsider and just posting in other threads if it's that uncomfortable. If smash fighters weren't largely a zero-sum game, I'd probably post everywhere since there are so many choices I love and want other fans to be similarly happy.

Guys c'mon, today is Thanksgiving... you know, the day of THANKS and giving blessings. Why don't we take the time to pause and reflect all that Sakurai and his team have done for us? I think the Lloyd supporters and detractors have said their peace, and let's just calm down about all of that. I don't want new folks like C cosmicB to be scared off.

I'll admit, Thanksgiving isn't very celebrated where I live, but I think there's a lot of value in the holiday's premise and I'm always welcoming of a good moment to appreciate what we have. Sakurai and the team's work is extremely commendable and we can be sure they put their all into making Smash Ultimate the beast of a game it is. I could spend a good while just congratulating everything they've done in the base game alone, and we've got tons of also quality DLC already and will continue to in the foreseeable future as well? Talk about gift that keeps on giving. I can't think of a developer who is as beloved in the industry, and for good reason. I'll let Geno say it:

I wanted to say, Fatmanonice, I really enjoy reading what you have to say. Your posts keep me coming back here. I don’t think you’re a leaker. I don’t view you as an insider. You’re just a dude with some connections that speculates about things.

There seems to be some trolling going on recently. I created an account just to say: Fatman, thanks for doing what you do. I appreciate it. You seem like a cool dude. Thanks for keeping us in the loop as much as you can.

Honestly I think I enjoyed reading fatman posts even more before all this sabi stuff happened. He has to walk over so many eggshells now because all his theories and speculation are intrinsically based on things he can't share a lot of the time. If I could go back and have become an active supporter back during 4 or even just the start of ultimate I would have loved to get to know him and the rest of the old guard. I love spinning threads of speculation pepe silvia style and in another timeline I'm sure we could have really hit it off.

That said it's thanksgiving and while dinner table fights between the in-laws is customary I hope we can take a step back for a second to appreciate the season. I know I'm thankful to have this thread here and all of you all who participate in it. We're the most active group here by far and few can even say they have much of one at all. Even massive fanbases like Isaac's or Waluigi's have largely retreated into their own spaces because there really just isn't enough hope or interest to go around to keep a thread alive. I love being on Mr. Sakurai's wild ride and I couldn't ask for a better gang of degenerates and ****posters to take it all the way to the end with. When geno gets in I'm really going to miss having this to jump into everyday to see what new news or shenanigans is going on. We'll still have the social thread and competitive discussion to mull through and I'm sure fatman will keep dropping his thoughts over on papa's discord group but it really won't be the same. Here's to the geno gang, the greatest fanbase around!

Honestly, this changes the game for speculation. Especially with popular franchises (Like Resident Evil) getting spirits from OUT OF NOWHERE, kind of soft deconfirms them. And Nintendo, themselves, are doing it. We could now get insiders going "Yo I heard Dig Dug is coming!" Then we get a Spirit event from Dig Dug...What is this madness!?

I get your sarcasm (It seems to be sarcasm), but some people were actually considering Tetrimino as a possible character, some unironically. Honestly Tetrimino could have been a left field pick. I don't know what a moveset would look like, but I could see Sakurai becoming very creative and having them spin for attacks, etc.

But then there is the fact that I'm writing this at midnight. Anyway, my point on the spirits situation still stands.

First off, can we not tag fatman over this? He has enough going on.

Second, fatman is responding to someone who's been here a while and is being constantly obnoxious and continuing to badger him. Totally different situation. And tbh I haven't seen anything from KCCHIEF. Maybe I missed it. The problem with what you were doing was that you kept bringing it up long after it had been dropped.

Fatman may have been the first to hint at Lloyd, but technically, his sources are just the insiders themselves (while their sources are usually actually in Nintendo or other companies) and he still had to have permission from Sabi himself, so it's not like it was first-hand info and he didn't spill the beans anyway.

Well, it is of my opinion that we will be getting at least one more character from those respective companies. Even though I have no personal attachment to any of the characters I'm about to list, here are the characters who I think are the most likely from those companies:

Bandai Namco: Tales of character (likely Lloyd)

Capcom: Dante
(Originally it was a RE character, but those sudden Spirits give me massive doubts right now. If Dante is ever deconfirmed at some point, then the position will move to Phoenix Wright.)

Sqaure Enix: Gex. Sorry, Geno fans, time to pack it in. Your irrelevant doll is donezo. Gex will wreak havoc and defeat all who oppose him.

(Nah just kidding, I legitimately think Geno's chances are great. He is my SE prediction. That's why I'm in here supporting his fans.)

Hopefully those picks don't ruffle too many feathers.
