Not too bad. Nothing new in terms of leaks, but based on what Fatman's been hearing talked about behind the scenes, we should be in for some good stuff.

uhhh… 6 or 7 names? the hell!? Ok wherever this is coming from it's not from our NoA source or any of sabi's sources lol. All we have heard are the deconfirmations you already guys heard from me pages ago (ryu crash and tracer). Names floating around is just speculation imo yeah, that just means there isn't a solid name nailed down yet. I dont know what names those are or where they are coming from tho, lol.

You're good, I was just curious since it's a somewhat common complaint. The only one of Sora's designs I dislike is his Dream Drop Distance appearance. I feel it sacrifices the charm of the original, while also failing to match his KH2 design. Making him younger for plot reasons didn't help either.

The points you dislike were actually explicit design goals for Sora's character. The original design was intended to echo Mickey Mouse, which is why he has the large shoes, shorts, and spiky hair. It was all to mimic Mickey's silhouette. One of the goals for KH2 as a game was to make Sora cooler both in gameplay and design. And KH3's design iirc was built around looking more athletic to suit his greater mobility.

If you think Sora's designs are bad now, you need to see one of the earliest concepts. When Nomura presented this at a meeting with Disney he was met with total silence.

Yes it did originally come from a video game. It came from the critically acclaimed title "Half Eaten Grilled Cheese Sandwich: Adventures on Polar Bear Island" for the PS1.

In a good way like "HAHA, Oh wow... I never would have considered that!" That said, it's just a name that's come up and most people don't take it super seriously to begin with but, unlike PP, I think people would see it as trolly in a good way. It's a stretch but I'm putting it out there that there's probably going to be at least one character that people weren't counting on.

Hmm, a character that people don't really speak of much but a good amount of people would be happy about probably is a secret of Mana rep.

Secret of Mana has had a bit of love in recent-ish times with the SoM remake on PS4, the collection that was released stateside last E3, SoM being on the SNES mini, and could also tie into the Trials of mana remake coming later down the road.

Would a Resident Evil character count? I think the only person I've heard bring up an RE character for Smash on a decently regular basis is PapaGenos. The RE series could make for a really interesting addition to Smash, and I don't imagine anyone would be opposed, especially if that character is Jill. I'm imagining a character that has a limited ammo system that either slowly regenerates over time or refills when you land attacks. Their specials mostly consist of different weapons, mainly a handgun, a grenade launcher, and a magnum, and you have to pick and choose when is most appropriate to use which, lest you find yourself in a bad situation.

Hello, thread! All this talk about Geno has finally given me a reason to create an account here! Been a big fan of SMRPG ever since I was little.

in regards to this supposed release date for Terry on Friday, I'm not sure if this was shared already but the Smashbros website was down for a bit on Monday...

Yo, just your usual thread lurker passing by here. I was never much of a forum goer myself, but I've been reading through you guys' conversations here since right before the SNK trademark slip up on Nintendo UK's website and I've been hooked since. So much has happened here in just that small timeframe between then and now it's astounding. To call Geno's saga (and Smash speculation in general, really) a rollercoaster is one hell of an understatement lmao. The constant sudden turns of events, not to mention the miscellaneous other discussions, always keep me coming back.

On the topic of Geno himself, I'll admit, I didn't get the chance to grow up with SMRPG as many of you must have, but I have known about and been intrigued about both for a long time. Throughout the years I've seen a multitude of people everywhere on the internet singing their praises, drawing fanart and sharing their memories of this one puppet boi and his game of origin, and being as much of a fan of the Mario series as I am, I had to check out what the fuss was all about sooner or later... and it turned out to be later Well, when the time came that I became more invested in Smash speculation after E3 2018 and the ****ing bombshell that was Ridley, I began to root for Geno the same way I did for everyone's favorite space pterodactyl beforehand. I just like seeing fan favorites like them making it even if I'm not personally attached to them, y'know? From there on I went to witness his rising popularity and expectation, the incessant leaks of varying credibility surrounding him, the entire Grinch fiasco and the Spirit deconfirmation ****show- uhhh, debate.

Then, in mid-December, I did it. I got around to playing SMRPG on my SNES mini after making sure I had access to all the first three Paper Mario games because I also really wanted to play/replay them following it. . Had a blast from start to finish, getting invested in its world, story and characters, listening to Yoko Shimomura's absolute banger of a soundtrack and even learning to like the turn based battle system I was kinda unsure if I'd really enjoy. And on top of that, I really appreciated how much it helped flesh the Mario universe with more personality and lore than any game in the franchise before, as well as starting a legacy of awesome RPGs set in the Mario franchise with the Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi series, both of which being in a rather sad state right now unfortunately.

And that's where Geno comes in. Much as I love the rest of the cast in the game, he really stood out. I feel I don't even need to explain why given how I'm probably in the largest concentration of Geno fanboys on the internet, but I'll do it anyway: he's a star being sent by a higher authority to put an end to the Smithy Gang's takeover of Mario's dimension and repair Star Road by possessing the coolest looking doll I've ever seen which has ****ING GUNS AND ROCKETS INSIDE HIS FINGERS AND HANDS!!! Yeah, I was won over.

All of that blended together made me want him in Smash about as badly as everyone else. My support of longstanding requests like him, my attachment to the character, however recent, his brilliant moveset potential and the prospect of more representation of this rad part of the Mario franchise that just doesn't get enough love in Smash imo. I rarely ever write freaking essays that are as long or elaborate as this, but I just really felt the urge to show my support lmao. Also, expect me to like and leave remarks here when I feel like it I guess.

Alright, with the reveal seemingly imminent, here’s my “Fighter #5 Announcement Reaction Tier List”. The following list, I should stress, has nothing to do with my personal opinion of the characters involved, they’re just what I think the “general reaction” would be. Or, in other words, how much the reveal would “break the internet”.

S (Smash speculation is forever broken, anything goes at this point): Master Chief, any Sony rep, Sora, Crash, Waluigi, a Valve rep

A (Big names that a large amount of people will be excited about): Steve, Doomslayer, Rayman, Spyro, Tracer, a Dark Souls rep

A- (Big in Smash... less so in the general populace, sadly): Geno, Isaac, Bandana Dee

B (Great characters that certainly have their fans both on and off Smash and would absolutely make fun additions, but are generally from more niche series): Lloyd, another Capcom rep, Shantae, Arle, Ryu Hayabusa

WTF (Mass confusion, yay!): Reimu, Jonesy, an unexpected arcade rep like Frogger or Q-Bert, another “hardware” rep, another “common enemy” character

I’m personally expecting they’ll pull out all the stops for #5 and go with something truly Internet-breaking.

Dang it guys. It's been awhile bsince I have posted here (lurked every once in awhile though) and things got crazy day by day.

Seems like we're still in that spot of uncertainty whether Geno is a thing or not. Oh well. Hopefully things turn out for the better.

I am currently in the camp of Doomguy/Doom Slayer is #5 character but I also want Geno as #5. As long as both get the chance, it's fine. Crossing my fingers, either way.

Thanks! I know it's nearly the definition of impossible, but I would love it so much. I'd especially like to see their take on Data Drain when all possible opponents would be actual video game characters lol. Seeing that Final Smash would be absolutely beautiful.

I imagine anyone who survived it would have to spend some time as a shrunken version of their classic sprite designs, creating some from scratch for the fighters who wouldn't have any to use

Exactly. Most of us are guessing November 1st because that's when the new spirit event starts (there is the SNK copyright at the bottom of the event which wasn't present during the Tetris event), which made people assume that would be his release date, and on the DLC page Terry is "Coming Soon". I think Terry will be released on the 5th or 6th (if there's a Direct) but Nintendo will announce when his presentation video is coming. Might want to keep an eye on the Mii Costume section of the presentation in case certain characters get costumes.

I mean the game dropped on Pearl Harbor so I doubt theyre too concerned about smaller holidays.

All Saints Day isn't even mentioned on most calendars, and is only really known to/celebrated by Catholics. Far be it from Nintendo, a Japanese company, to care about a primarily European religious observance. I don't think they're going to hit us with anything on the 1st, but because it's a holiday in some part of the world isn't the reason.
