So GAF has a link to the audio drama and has an incomplete plot summary of FFX-2.5.

I haven't read the plot summary yet, but the reaction to it isn't the best XD

Oh god, I didn't even read any of it but the replies to that thread are... less than ideal.

Maybe FFX-3 will let you dress your party up as different characters from other FF games in a desperate attempt to get people who aren't interested to buy it!

No! ****!

Why couldn't X-3 be a prequel with Auron, Jecht, and Braska? That would have been much better.

Also since Tidus and Yuna aren't together, shouldn't Tidus disappear?

Besides, why no VI-2?

Ever FF forum I've looked at has pretty much said the same thing, and I personally agree. Frankly, part of the reason why I was never really interested in X-2 was because they turned Yuna into that idol garbage and decided that Rikku was better off with skimpy clothes, and I would hate to see more of that.

Hahahahahah, oh wow.
I'm so glad I hate X's story right now, otherwise I would be pissed.

So X-2 was a dream, Sin is back, and Tidus and Yuna are having a fight.
Oh, and Auron may or may not have a daughter, she's one of the protagonists.

It's like everything I would expect from a bad fanfiction.

Unfortunately FFX-2 was the first next gen JRPG I played at the time so it holds a special place in my heart. Played it while visiting a cousin whose X copy was scratched beyond belief.

I played 3J, 1, 2, 7, 8, 9 in that order until then haha.

If only Crisis Core and Dirge of Cerberus were officially dreams then I think my respect for square would rise exponentially.
I actually liked Crisis Core quite a bit as a game, and I thought that DoC, as a game, was just kind of a mediocre distraction.

But the stories for those games. Holy ****, it's like everyone at Square just kind of threw their hands up in the air and said, "**** IT! Someone go check fanfiction.net for ideas."

It's kind of funny how they gave up with the FFVII compilation at the moment. They kept setting something up and stopped.
I'm actually fine with that. I like VII as a game, and I'm even okay with some of the spin offs, but Square whoring that game out was getting really old really fast.

I didn't have a playstation until FF9 came out, and going from FF 9 to FF 7 was a hard transition because of the graphics.

I never played past the first disc of FF 7.

I actually kind of liked FF X-2 besides the JPOP BS beacuse the job system was in the first FF I played, FF 5, and I've always liked the Job system better than the static character classes.

So the tie in novel, X-2.5 is partially leaked so far.

Oi

It takes place a year after X-2 and

Tidus died a horrible death (a bomb blew his head off, whether enemy bomb or an actual bomb, Idk) and Yuna (who was acting cold towards Tidus) revived him effectively making him a zombie. A voodoo style zombie. There's also some sort of sexual content in the novel. And Tidus being stupid by saying that he's worried about losing his fighting spirit because Yuna looks sexy.

What...

I mean really, what can I say about that?

Are we sure this isn't a comedy? This just has to be an attempt to outdo Disgaea or something.

Not sure if fanfic, or if Square is pulling our legs.

I just watched a Spoony episode of FF and saw this thread. For a moment there I thought this thread was about that.

I haven't seen a ton of Spoony's stuff, but I know he seems to harbor an immense hatred for FFVIII to the point where he did an extensive video series on it, a lets play and even dressed up as Squall.

This leads me to believe that FFVIII is his secret favorite game but he's embarrassed about it.

Spoony's latest episode on FF XIII further explores why it is such a horrible game

and why Square needs to hire REAL writers

It's a bit sad that the scenario idea from Nojima wasn't bad for XIII. It just was really poorly executed, directed, and written (I can't remember who did the actual writing/script). I really hope that the FFX novel and audio drama had input from Toriyama or something since Nojima is heading the story for XV.

Speaking of story, what are the impressions for Bravely Default's story?

I'm honestly not expecting it to be amazing or anything, it's the gameplay and music that has me excited, but it would certainly be nice if the characters are at least likable.

It's because it's a job system mechanic that has me excited.

It's apparently a "Spiritual successor" to 4 heroes of light, which means I'll probably at least like it

What, at all, was good about it?

It wasn't the story, it wasn't the gameplay
But the story WAS good.

Barthandelous be like "Eh, you gotta go to pulse"
Then Lightning was like "Kk"
Then Barthandelous was like "Psych, I'm gonna kill you"
Then Lightning was like "Kk"
Then Barthandelous be like "Jk, I actually need you to kill me so the world will end"
Then Lightning and co. were like "Kk"
Then Barthandelous died and turned into Orphan
Then Orphan was like "Kill meh plz?"
Then Lightning and co. were like "Kk"
Then the world was ending and Fang and Vanille went super saiyan 5 to save it.

You can't tell me that's not a good story.

The gameplay was a little hard though.
I can only tap the X button so many times.

I'll be honest, I have no idea what it's about. But stylistically it reminds me heavily of FF9, which automatically grabs my attention.

The Bravely Default demo is out.

I love the art style personally, and the combat looks as interesting as I hoped it would.

It feels very much like a classic Final Fantasy game, and I'm glad to see the Job system return. The Difficulty settings are amazing, you can turn off EXP, money, or job points if you felt like it, and you can adjust the encounter rate.

I would have liked it if combat was a little faster, the noticeable pause between attacks when your character braves being my main complaint.

I'm really looking forward to it now. The music is good too, the battle theme and the theme that plays when you open the menu in the overworld have stood out the most for me so far.

EDIT: Just found out you can fast-forward battles with the d-pad, and it's really fast on the highest setting.
I also had to run from some Imps or my party would have been wiped out, playing on hard. This is a good sign.

Bravely Default made me realize how much modern Final Fantasy just doesn't suit me.

S-E doesn't need to make all these big budget games, I'm fine with just games like these.
All I hope for is that these teams don't get relegated to just iOS projects in the future.

Pretty much this. Playing 10 minuets of Bravely Default's demo was more engaging than the entirety of FFXIII. I really wish Square would stop focusing on spectacle and would instead focus on addictive character building and good, fun adventure stories. I'm sick of FF trying to be a series of somber, emotional epics with more money dumped into graphics instead of game play.

This is probably why V and IX really stand out as some of my favorite games in the series.
