I honestly haven't noticed too great a difference while playing with friends, but that's just me.

I think it will take a bit more time to understand all the match up implications.

However reading more about the patch I think ZSS, Pika, and possibly Rosa will be harder. Megaman actually might be an easier match up though.

Supposedly Rosa actually got pretty hard due Luma's hitlag and stuff.

ZSS and Pika are probably worse though. We at least have Nair for ZSS and aerial Wizkick for Pika though.

Problem is, ZSS has a ton of disjoint she can use to get around nair. Plus she can literally fish for grabs with no problem because her rewards outweighs her risk for them by so much. And pika can easily bait and punish aerial wizkick too.

They're definitely worse matchups overall, but tools are tools.

I'm actually happy with the way Ganon is right now. Sure it'd be nice with a faster Jab and a better Grab Range, but this patch was great for Ganon, so I'm not really hoping for anything come next patch.

Well, glad someone is optimistic about this patch, haha. I just got absolutely bodied by a pikachu and decided I hate this game forever.

So I like and hate this patch lol. In terms of on shield Ganon has an easier time coming in, but when it comes to Ganon players having to shield themselves. PSing is pretty much warranted because more often then not if they cross up your shield, or use a move that isn't perfectly spaced but you can't shield grab per se, throwing out Ganon's tilts take hella long because of the shield stun. I'd say it's a mixed bag. More just cause Ganon's moves are easier to punish in general compared to most of the cast. :(

So I've been playing Ganondorf for a while, decided he is too much fun and I'm maining him now haha. This patch though, seems both amazing and really bad (for solo ganon mains). Basically it's this: if Ganon had to be the aggressor in the matchup, that matchup is now better, if he had to be the defender, now it's basically un-winnable. You can't punish much at all out of shield cause his grab has such bad range and tilts are so slow.

Overall I like the changes tho, going to test out the new patch in a few days at my locals, see if it helps anything.

It's not that it's un-winnable and that he can't punish. It's more just you have to PS (Perfect Shield) more than before. I'd definitely say though that because PSing is now having to become a thing in most MU's across the cast. Aerial Chokes when you're pressuring someone and the new Nair when Spaced is amazing in neutral.

keep in mind perfect shielding is now a 3 frame window instead of 4, so in that sense it is definitely worse, especially considering that ganon is arguably the most dependent of the entire cast on perfect shielding.

I heard somewhere that projectiles have a different shieldstun formula than other attacks and are actually worse now. Can anyone confirm this? If this is true, this patch might end up being a buff to Ganon.

Most are worse, but some are better. Eggs and gordos, for instance, appear to have more shieldstun than before.
Eggs AND DAir? The Yoshi buffs are gonna drive me insane.

:4yoshi: was among my least favorite MUs pre-patch...Ugh

Big news, Shield damage has been increased for direct damage. It used to be a direct correlation with damage, now it's multiplied by 1.2 or so. Bonus shield damage is unaffected however.

U-smash/F-smash do like, 30 shield damage now.

Blobface Blobface Sounds like they haven't come to anything concrete just yet. I would hold off on the cake until the science guys come to a conclusion :p.

Although, if this is true then imma be the first one to eat that cake. Extra shield damage is always appreciated.

I believe Shield Damage has been increased, too. Just by playing, it truly feels like Shields take more damage. I was close to breaking a shield with Up Smash today, something I've never done before

I agree with Swoops.

Hmm.. Attacks doing more damage to shields might be an illusion since you're forced to stay a little bit longer in your shield when hit now, due to the heavier Shield Stun.

Or, attacks now actually DOES do more damage to shields, and the heavier Shield Stun is the secondary effect caused by this.

Supposedly shields do not degenerate while you're in actual shield stun. Only immediately afterwards, at least that's what I read.

I´m finding that the new Nair makes SH FF Nair a more rewarding approach option, as it has follow ups and makes people scared of short hops, so you can see how they react and add more to your database of how they roll/defend/escape for future reads and other evilness.

Ok, so apparently, shields always had 40/41 or so hp, and we just never realized it.

Weird. That actually explains a lot though.

In any case, with this new information, I do think intentionally pursuing shieldbreaks is a viable tactic for Ganon now. You can hit a shield with F-air or U-smash, then seconds later still get a shieldbreak with aerial wizkick. This is particularly helped by N-air being a combo-starter/kill setup now, since there's now a real reason to shield with Ganon above you.

You can still get punished if you use F-smash but definitely doing UpSmash into anything can lead into it. A spaced Nair can also give us a Shield Break setup as well, since you can't punish that with a throw anyways.

I'm actually curious what @Ray_Kalm and Vermanubis Vermanubis think about the patch so far and how it affects Ganon. I've heard alot form others already.
I've had next to chance to experiment with anything, so my opinions are inconclusive. :p

I will say though, that I don't think anything meaningful has changed, i.e. I don't think Ganon will fin much he can intentionally implement outside of hitting shields with USmash under platforms. I don't see people attacking shields with FAir or anything like that.
