I would come if they offered a % payout instead of 20$. I could easily play at my house and have just as many people over. >_>

Friday May 29th Tournament Results

Friday May 29th Winners -

Singles:
1st Place Blue
2nd Place Ryan M.

Doubles:
1st Place Rob M. & Blue

Hope to see more of all you guys in the future.

I have had some players ask about running a more competitive level tournament with larger payouts and higher entry fees once a month or once every other month. If anyone that has experience running these types of events is interested in helping to organize please contact me at the store (973)664-0912

So then as previously mentioned, this tournament is not for you. He is doing you a favor giving you a payout.
Maybe if he were posting on babysitmykids.com you'd be right. This is SMASHBOARDS. We get these kinds of events done in dorm rooms, son. It's not a favor. Every week, he bumps this thread, so yes, it's my right to have an opinion.

And as previously stated, the store would benefit more if they ran something serious. Give us a promised payout higher than 20$. >_>

Why don't you stop by the store to discuss your ideas for a more competitive level tournament. I am always willing to listen to players ideas and if possible make an event happen.

The Friday Night events have been running and successful for over 2 years. We have anywhere form 30-45 people here on a Friday Night playing various games (Smash, YuGiOh etc)

Feel free to stop by anytime to discuss your ideas for a larger event with me.

There are some pretty nice people there on Friday and its an enjoyable experience without a big payout for the most part anyway but I'd like to do something bigger. I don't know if I'll be there friday but if I am I'll try to work something out for more competitive stuff

There's no need. If anyone was going to TO a larger tourny it would probably be EC.

Make sure you read what he wrote on the first page if you plan on going.

"Entry Fee is $3.00 per player for Brawl Singles, Brawl Doubles and Melee. No Venue fees. 1st Place $10 2nd Place $5 for singles and Melee. 1st Place $5.00 per player for doubles.

This is not a highly competitive atmosphere. Most players are there to have fun and enjoy themselves on a Friday Night. Pizza usually gets delivered around 7:30 and is available for $2 per slice"

I did read the whole thread payouts arent really important to me being that I dont have a lot of people to play with and the only time I get to play the game at all is when I go to tournaments

This is really close to me but ill see if I can make it its just that I work every Friday

We have these events scheduled for every Friday. They are more casual than competitive. We do however have some really good players stop by now and then.

I would be willing to try and run a more competitive level event if an experienced T.O. was interested in assisting. I am just not familiar enough with the competitive level events to run one.

Our Friday events have been running for over 2 years now. We originally started with Melee and as soon as Brawl came out we converted over to that. We do still schedule Melee for every Friday as well with mixed turnouts. Some weeks we don't have any players for it and others we get 6-8.

Brawl is usually a minimum of 12 people. Usually more like 15-20 show up each Friday. Hope more of you guys can make it over on a Friday night.

Seriously, think about adding Brawl+ as an event. I would bring a setup if needed, just hit me up if you have any question about Brawl+ or anything. I'll answer them for you.
