Final Fantasy XIV BETA

I looked around and didn't see a topic on this, so I figured I would make one.

Is anyone playing the beta right now? I want to know what its like but it doesn't seem likely that I'll get accepted.

So, anyone else hyped for this game?

It really matters. I honestly hope either XIV or XV goes back and makes it into a true time-based RPG, not this "Oh, your opponent can attack whenever, you can attack whenever" stuff. I mean it's fun and definitely keeps you involved in the battle all the way throughout, it's just I haven't played a turn-based fighter where people attack based on speed in quite some time(Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga I think xD?) So yeah, selfish reasons but it'd be nice for at least one of them to go back to this, no twists or anything like that lol. Oh yeah, and each character has a diverse role, like dragoon, warrior, mage, etc. Just one of those things that made me like the characters more.

Regardless, I'm hyped for them already and will be buying them barring any suckage info that leaks I s'pose =P

This really upsets me. They've pretty much stopped production for Versus XIII and Agito XIII and now they're focusing on XIV?? IIRC, 13 comes before 14.

It's because XIV will be an online game like XI was. It's a separate vein of FF games.

Not surprising for them to just be tossing around ideas at the moment. XIII's done with and I don't think Toriyama is involved with any other projects at the moment.

Nope. XIV isn't doing anything of that sort. Versus XIII was halted because of FF XIII, not because of XIV. Most of the team in Versus were involved with helping XIII's team. FF XIV has pretty much a totally different team (XI's) which is why the game's release date isn't tremendously far from XIII.

Agito's slow because the team is working on that and The 3rd Birthday as well.

I've never really been into MMORPG's (Tried WoW with a friend and it was fun, but we quit for no reason lol) but this one is intriguing.

I'm guessing there is no set release date yet is there.

Production Division 1 through 4 all work on the FF series but PD3 specifically works on the MMO FF games, FFXI and now FFXIV. That division most likely had NOTHING to do with the development of FFXIII, FFvsXIII, or FFV. The divisions that were doing that work were likely comprised of mostly PD1 and PD4, the two most commonly associated with mainstream FF and KH games. It is extremely likely that FFvsXIII is still being developed since there was a trailer at Jump Festa 2010 in December and it's very doubtful that PD3 was working on it since they've been busy with both FFXIV and FFXI (which they are still making content for). It's not news that they've been planning on making FFXIV a 2010 release as was announced at last year's E3. SO STOP ****TING YOUR PANTS ABOUT THIS BUTTHURT NOMURA FANS FFVSXIII IS STILL COMING OUT ****.

SO ANYWAY

When is the Beta going to happen? I thought they didn't have signups for it yet. Is the beta only on PC or PS3 also?

I kindof liked FFXI. It wasnt the best MMORPG I've ever played, but it was interesting. Of course, this was a time of my life where I sucked at MMORPGs and would go into level 40 territory at level 5 because I wanted "ADVENTURE!" (MMORPG's arent really known for their adventure for low-levels...)

The beta is on both PS3 and PC, but you can only register for the PS3 one if you have a special code that you can only get from buying FF XIII. I was pretty disappointed with that since I didn't get it yet. I signed up for the PC beta and I'm waiting for a response.

I wanted to bump this to know if anyone is trying this or not, sorry if I wasn't supposed too.

I'm really curious (I played XI for 3 1/2 years) to see what they do with this, since it is a solo/quest based game, not leveling/grouping. It has potential to be good if they have end game things that are not all pvp based (it seems as if this will be more casual than ffxi, where logging in for 1hr was a waste of time if you didn't have 6 to spend) So I'm really hoping it won't go into pvpville. Usually solo games like this that is casual and based on yourself lead to pvp (as there isn't much to expand with) but if they make solo/small group mini-missions and a Colosseum with achievements or something, it could work out being revolutionary.
