Thought I'd contribute before all of the good topics were taken up.

Certainly there are tons of good Mario games, but there are certain levels in the platformers, courses in the Mario Kart franchise, and even a few arenas from the sports games that just make you go "Wow, that was Awesome" every time you play it. A LOT of the galaxy designs did it for me just out of the craziness and off the wall level design each planetary path had. Another personal favorite of mine is the Whoa Zone from SPM for the same reasons I like galaxies levels; it is pure pandemonium to navagate, but it is all rewarded by a very unique old school side scrolling galaga-like shooter boss. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only person who has a favorite level, so the question arises; what is your favorite level in a Mario game?

Yoshi Valley from Mario Kart 64 is my favorite, but 2nd and 3rd have to be the castles from Super Mario World and Super Mario Land 2 since the former has several different paths to Bowser and the latter takes a lot of ducking and dodging.

Ice Land, Sherbet Land, Shiver Mountain, CRYSTAL PALACE GOD YES, World 3 of NSMBWii, Joke's End....

Basically, anywhere that is ice-themed.

Second place goes to Pipe Land, and third goes to the Underwhere of Super Paper Mario. Great concepts that I thought would never be explored in the games, even if the former was right in front of my face.

This is a good thread. There are so many good Mario levels out there.

I like the desert level in Super Mario Bros 3 where you have to get around the quicksand and avoid the sun that's trying to swoop down and hit you. It's fun to speed run that level. I also like jumping over that tornado thing before the sun begins it's offensive on Mario.

Wet-Dry World.

Always wanted to know who lived in that town. Great music too.

Glitzville and Delfino Plaza take the cake for this one.

Other honorable mentions would be Tick-Tock Clock and Matter Splatter Galaxy.

Delfino Plaza is easily one of my most memorable stage/level (if it can be called that) out of all the mario games.

Other than that, I would say SMW's Bowser Castle. Two paths was cool and the final boss fight was a lot of fun.

Wet-Dry World is by far the most interesting locale I've ever experienced in a Mario game.

I really like Hazy-Maze Cave and Boo's Mansion, though. I also found Sirena Beach (Sunshine) to be interestingly eeries, which instantly made it a favorite of mine.

Spire you keep being awesome everytime I find you at random around this forum.

WDW fascinated the **** outta me when I was a kid. I don't know why but something about it was so fun and intriguing. The whole concept, for starters, the interesting enemies, the water-level changing. I can't count the number of times I got nabbed by the big purple dude, tossed to a lower tier, landed in the mercy of a shovel-tosser, and pitched right back down to my doom.

And then I found the secret city! Maaaaaaan. I felt like such a genius when I thought to triple-jump into that painting (hey man, I was like 12 or 13). I didn't think a cool, mysterious city would be my reward.

Man, I don't think I actually realized how much I loved that level until Spire got me to think about it. It was a real trip.

I could not agree more. After going there in Sunshine I fell in love. It was literally like being on a vacation.

Wet-Dry World was amazing to say the least.

I've always liked the secret levels in Sunshine. I'm not sure why, i think it was the music that made it for me.

Other than that, Maple TreeWay in MKW. **** YES

As a kid, I always loved exploring and wandering around Peach's Castle in 64. Finding powerstars and unlocking more sections of the castle with more levels was just awesome to me, maybe because the whole place is just so ominous and mysterious.

The secret levels in Sunshine are fun, but insanely hard. I hate that it removes FLUDD the first time you play them, though; it made the gameplay feel... empty, like my options were far too limited.

Oh, I forgot to mention. I really REALLY enjoyed the Gusty Garden Galaxy. I think I just like Mario riding on flowers and plants and things like that, because I loved that one village in Sunshine with the dandelions (can't remember the name, starts with a P).

I just think it's fun that everything in Mario games are so...unreal. That's of course true but I mean the stuff Nintendo does with it is crazy. I'd never see Mario riding on flowers, or on a floating ring of water in the sky. The creativity is great.

Ah, the Mario games always have had marvelous, amazing, and even beautiful worlds and levels.

For starters, we have Rainbow Road of MK64. As a child, I was completely fascinated with that course... And who can forget its classic BGM? In addition to that, we have the Rainbow Road of MKWii, which is drop-dead gorgeous; I also love Maple Treeway of the same game for its music and overall looks.

Chapter Five of Paper Mario always gave me a bit of a thrill. What's cooler than going inside a giant active volcano, battling a huge Piranha Plant in lava at its bottom with one of the coolest boss BGMs ever, and then nearly getting blown up? Well, several things, but it was still awesome.

Gusty Garden Galaxy should be among anyone's list at least due to its amazing music.

But nothing... nothing will ever top Good Egg Galaxy for me. When I first played that level I was absolutely in awe. Though, remembering that makes me a little sad, actually, because I'll never experience it again. I was totally amazed to view the beautiful graphics alongside that immensely uplifting background music...

Pianta Village, you mean? : P

Chapter 5 in Paper Mario is definitely one of my favorite courses as well. Melty Molten Galaxy is a magnificent galaxy in SMG not only because of the music, but because of the erupting volcano. The graphics in that level were superb. Hell, the graphics of the GAME were superb. Tick Tock Clock from SM64 and DK Mountain from MK:DD are my favorites as well.

Yeah, but he was talking about a village with flowers and dandelions, so I was assuming he was talking about Pianta Village :p Although, Pinna Park is still pretty epic.

Boggly Woods. The first time I saw that place I was floored, it was the coolest looking area I'd ever seen and I just couldnt help but love it.
This.

And to add more to it, the music suited the place perfectly.

Yeah, but Pinna Park has dandelions on the outside of it. You have to make them happy or something in one mission I think.
