Falco's Up B

I'm not sure if other Falcos do this but I just recently thought of something. When you have to recover from below all you can basically do is Up B right? Well I just thought of something, don't you have those times when you Up B and while you're charging you're facing away from the stage(I don't mean you Up B away I mean you have to recover going up and your back is facing the stage) and you still recover? When Falco uses his Up B(same goes for fox) when they face away from the stage when they Up B they tend to recover(get back onto the stage). So for example, if a Falco were to chain grab to spike me and I were to attempt to recover I'd jump(obviously) then use my Up B but with my back towards the stage and if he's holding the legde I'll pass right through him but I'll still make it back onto the stage. But yeah I really think this will the better Falcos survive in Falco dittos and not get gayed by trying to Up B and someone grabs the ledge.

How would you turn the opposite way. without spending too much downtime?
Hit the opposite direciton and back so it'll be like hold the control stick Up and away in a diagonal direction and hit B then you're facing away from the stage(but if you're already facing away from the stage then you don't have to worry about it). Also if anyone doesn't understand please ask.

I don 't have the stuff I need to record a vid unless someone can give me their wii # and brawl code so I can send a replay for them to upload? But it's not that difficult to understand, all it is, is just using your Up B when you're going up but when Falco is charging his Up B he is not facing towards the stage, he is facing away and when he passes through the person who ledge grabbed just move towards the stage and you'll land. I'm pretty sure out of all of your matches played with Falco, surely that has happened to you or you've seen other Falcos do it.

How does facing away improve the distance of your Up-B?
It doesn't improve your distance, it's just that Falco's fowards momentum after his Up B sucks but if you were to be backwards and went towards the stage(As in when you're going up while your opponent grabs the ledge) you'll barely land which is helpful.

To practice this I suggest doing this in training mode(only two players are needed for this).

Ummm... absolutely nothing.... Just your signature....
Sorry if I sounded like if I was mad Lol but I really want people to know this I think it's a very good find.

When Falco flips around at the top of the Up B, he can DI a little further when facing backwards. Being backwards pulls Falco onto the stage because of that flip vs his body pushing himself away when facing into the ledge.

That's sounds just about right.

That's always annoyed me (against edgehoggers in general). Now hopefully I'll be able to get around it. Thanks for the help!

I've had the same prob as Denzi, thanks for the topic Kismet, I'll try it, hope I'll avoid edge hogs most of the time.

this might help sometimes. maybe from a really weak spike. but a proper CG to spike from another falco will send you so low that your body wont even reach above the stage after u firebird

not if you DI properly and have the timing down. if the opponent doesn't edgehog, i can barely make it most of the time. anyways nice find.

im talking about if they edgehog
That's what Tommy and I were talking about, if a Falco were to chain grab to spike you you would immediately jump after being spiked and Up B going up backwards. Which means when you pass the ledge hogging Falco you can DI backwards towards the stage and you'll land.

Somebody actually tried to bring this to everybody's attention a while back but people just shrugged it off, probably because they didn't believe it actually made a difference.

Semi-Off-Topic: when you UpB facing the stage your magnet hands work much much better and could actually save you if you are in a few uncomfortable positions

Well not if your opponent is holding onto the ledge(for example a Falco ditto) so if you were Backwards you could DI better towards the stage(When you pass through the opponent whom grabbed the ledge) and land. In a situation where you're trying to firebird vertically, you'd need this. But the situation you mentioned would be where you just used a curved fire bird recovering horizontally(only if you couldn't use your side B because the ledge would be a little bit higher)
